OMG I cannot WAIT for this one. 😍
*this* version of *this* one is my favourite Aurora song. I love the unison of their voices when they sing the "to me (promis)" line, and I love the interplay of their voices when they sing in harmony. I love the sound of Pomme's voice. The vocal melody with its lifting run floods my brain with endorphins. I love how the accompaniment is that guitar put thru whatever effect, and that it fades to becomes a very "French film" piano accompaniment for Pomme's verse (my first few listens I was too captivated by the melody/harmonies/lyrics to even be aware of how the piano replaces the guitar... the song would be coming to its comclusion and I'd be all "hey, where'd the piano come from?") And the lyrics are amazing. Aurora sings "and everything matters to me" about presumably a person (but who knows with Aurora; all the business about driving in a car could be a metaphor), but my brain envisions it all as the "universal you;" the human race and every scrap of life on this planet, mattering in the grand scale of things (ie, beyond it mattering to Aurora). The chorus just unravels me, every time. And I love music sung in different languages; French happens to be one I understand, but I'll listen to anything in any language if the music catches me.
Pomme hasn't "caught fire" with reaction channels (yet) but she has a TON of content on UA-cam, if you're looking to add some farther-from-the-North-American-mainstream artists to your channel... she's amazing. A *very* worthy rabbit hole to go down (she's been around for 8 or 9 years now I think?)

They sing „pour me“ („pour moi“ + „for me“). Promis means promise in english. :)

@@johnytwo I keep going back and forth on what I believe the last line is; I'm in the "promis" camp atm but it could be the inexplicable Franglais "pour me" cuz who knows with Aurora!
But "promis" makes sense to me with the context of the lyrics Pomme's verse ends with - she's saying "Promise" as in "[I] promise [you/it]."
So: "You and I; in the night, we'll find somewhere to place the flowers we've picked. I promise you [that we'll find somewhere for the flowers]."

Pomme (Claire Pommet) is a French singer/songwriter who is also from 1996 like Aurora. She is also featured in this song "Everything Matters" on the album "The Gods We Can Touch", and she wrote the last verse in French.
I think it was Aurora who contacted Pomme online asking for this colab, because she heard of her music, and wanted a song with some French in it, because she was recording the album in a small castle in Norway previously owned by a French baron 😄
Amazingly this was the first time they met in RL in late January 2022 after the album had been released, they recorded the vocals for the album separately (during Covid), and had only talked in online video chats.
They did hold a public livestream together, where they talked about making a music video for the song, but it never happened unfortunately.
They also talked about doing future Colabs, which is probably why they sing "promis promis promis" (promised) at the end, which is not actually in the lyrics of the song.

I thought they sing „pour me“ as a mix of „for me“ and „pour moi“.

    • @Einyen
      @Einyen 3 місяці тому +1

@@johnytwo I thought so too at first, but I had this discussion in another video comments with a French guy, and he convinced me they are singing "promis", and now I think the "r" in promis is actually audible.

Probably my favorite track from "The Gods We Can Touch" album, and this is my favorite version! They've only collabed on this song, but there are multiple versions, including one where Pomme made a surprise appearance when Aurora was performing in her home country of France. That one's really cool too.

I think this song is generally my favorite from the last album. But as always with Aurora whole album is great:). I love how poetic it is and general meaning of the song :). Regarding this great live performance I think that even the colors and background is artistic and dreamy:)

Aurora is well known internationally and Pomme is famous only in french speaking countries. But they are both equally as amazing.
So let me introduce you to Pomme.
Her real name is Claire Pommet and her stage name is Pomme which means Apple in french.
She will be soon 27 yo, from Lyon in France, and is multi-talented :
    - amazing voice: she often exposes her beautiful lower range but there are songs where she exposes amazing upper range : check her duet with Aurora where she harmonizes on top of Aurora in the second chorus ,
    - great instrumentalist: she plays guitar, autoharp, piano, cello, vocoder, banjo, synthetizer, …),
    - she composes and writes almost all of her songs.
    - She is also an actress (lead role in an upcoming movie) and
    - She is a writer ( she wrote a book for the youth titled "Sous les paupières").
She erupted on the french musical scene about 9 years ago, with some covers and duets on YT, when she was 18 yo .
Then late 2017 she had her first stage performance in Paris and she released her first Album "A peu près".
She wrote 2 songs on this first album.
But since then, she has composed/written ALL songs from their next 2 albums: the second album "Les Failles", released in 2019 and the 3rd called "Consolation" released in august 2022.
She is famous in France: she has won the Best Newcomer Album award in Les Victoires de la musique 2020 (France music award ceremony) and she has won the Best Female Artist award in the 2021 edition.
She starts to be recognized on the international scene as well:
    - Aurora is a fan of her (Pomme also is a fan of Aurora since 2015) and Pomme was the first featuring on an Aurora album (wonderful duet called "Everything matters" ua-cam.com/video/yX8bYwl9rKc/v-deo.html ) , they started a nice friendship, we can expect some additional collab in the future.
    - Billie Eilish also stated she is a fan and subscribed to Pomme’s channel: she probably has discovered Pomme thru her cover of Bad Guy and Billie, when she was on french radio, talked about Pomme and asked Pomme to text her so they can get in touch. Later Pomme said they did. Again Pomme is a fan of Billie and made this very beautiful french cover of Bad Guy with an autoharp.
    - She is also highly praised by Julia and Angus Stone or Asaf Avidan that picked her for the opening of their concerts in France in 2018 . Julia invited her later to cover her hit Big Jet Plane with her autoharp on the album Songs for Australia (record from many artists to fund the battle against fires in Australia) and Julia , when she decided to sing a song in french, also asked Pomme to write the lyrics of a french translation of her hit Dance.
Pomme plays autoharp since she is 14 yo, she explained she discovered this instrument as an absolute fan of the folk and country music ( fan of Joan Baez, Dolly Parton, ...)
She defines her music as Authentic, Acoustic and Sad. She said there is always hope in her songs however.
For some of her songs, hope is visible at the surface and some others, you have to dig down.
Her songs relate to the Nature and the environment, to her own story and family, to different social issues (eg La lumiere is a song on Alzheimer's disease) and also her experience as a young lesbian girl.
She said she is transforming her dreams and nightmares into songs or visuals for her videos.
Her lyrics are poetic, she loves to leave room for personal interpretation and reinterpretation.
This is something she discussed with Aurora recently in a live stream and they were both in the same direction here (as for many other things BTW). You can check this incredible conversation (in english, after the first couple minutes from Pomme in french): ua-cam.com/video/mOQWFUkXrM0/v-deo.html.
I would recommend for your next reactions to Pomme (any of these is great, but this is my personal rank list):

U check sweet Pomme, she's a hell of an artist in her own right......these two are a hell of a team......they look so good together yup the beautiful Viking Fairy Queen and sweet Lil French Apple great combo......and this song is so freaking good, the piano arrangement is a work of art, I know, I'm a keyboard person with piano training since age 4,, and the message is so fucking good missing details because of the speed an atom and a star man Aurora knows how to put thoughts together and get them through everything matters for sure
Was looking forward for this reaction well done!

I'm surprised they didn't do more together. I've been on an Aurora binge today watching her multiple live concerts. I understand your priority towards your tipping subscribers but when you get to the other requests I really hope you watch some of her early stuff live from 2016. I love all of the Lollapalooza's ( I watched the Chicago one today). When she did the Oya Festival concert 2016 is the moment I fell in love with her when I discovered her. ua-cam.com/video/6L_uc7nIg00/v-deo.html BTW, I always let all the AD's run when I watch your video's. Pomme (Pom) is actually another of my favorites. She has a soft gentle voice, her mid range is like velvet and often just vocalizes like Aurora in "Through The Eyes of a Child" but with her own beautiful tone and style. Good example of both characteristics: ua-cam.com/video/b_E0pqf_Ht0/v-deo.html

    👍😍❤️
This is from her latest album released in January 2022.
On a livestream by Pomme, Aurora recounted how their collaboration came to be:
"I made my album in a castle in Norway, and it has French history. And this man lived in this castle like hundreds of years ago, and he was French, Marcus Gerhard. And he loved art and music and he celebrated and invited people and I thought it would be a nice way to honour this French castle by having you."
    Interviewed by Bedroomdisco, Aurora said:
"I wrote it a long time ago, quite early in the process and I already knew with that song that it was a part of the vibration that I wanted the album to be. To me it's about - which is an important keyword for me, because it can be about something different for everyone -, but it's about two things. If you listen very carefully, it's a beautiful and a sad story. There's something ominous about it too. But also something extremely beautiful. It's about these people, the you and them me in the song, and they are going through something which forces them to think about life differently and they look at each other and they look around themselves and they just grasp that time is slipping out of their fingers too quickly. I look at everything and am imagining in the end of the song they drive this car out to a sunset and they watch one very last sunset together and... there's a fear that you miss out on all the beautiful things. There is so much beauty in this world, the small things as well."
Explaining to Apple Music, Aurora said:
"I don't normally do features. I knew a bit about [Pomme] because she's extremely sweet and very talented. I wanted to include some Frenchness on the opening song as a gift to the castle that gave me a lot of the inspiration to finish this album. I asked her if she could write the ending of my song in French, and she wrote a beautiful story about the flowers we picked in all of your favourite places. It is an ode to Baroniet (Baroness) Rosendal."

Thank you for posting Aurora's explanations! As she has said (something like), each listener can make up their own stories of her songs--I have one--but this is a gold nugget of information.
