And, I’m a Trivia sponge, so here goes: They had just completed a Tour a month b4. So, they went & rented a Stadium to practice the performance. He ended up with a Throat Infection & the Doctor highly recommended he not do it bc he might lose his musical ability. He said no! Can you tell he had a severe throat infection? Most people think he was drinking booze from the cups bc on the piano. He’s drinking Honey & Tea. His command of the Audience was more than coincidence it was miraculous. Considering there were so many people there the sound was getting absorbed through them. So the people @ the back we’re following his hand gestures bc the actual sound hadn’t even reached them b4 the next sound was coming @ them. Go back & watch what his hands are doing & what the Audience is doing. NEXT: Radio Gaga is celebrating Radio bc M-TV is just getting started. LADY GAGA was a huge Freddie Fam growing up, so That was where she came up with HER STAGE NAME! You have to listen to the words to really understand the meaning. Most of us didn’t have a clue what a Band looked like unless we saw them in Person! NEXT-MICROPHONE. At sometime along the way a Microphone Stand broke, so that was the only spilt second solution they could come up with. He realized the freedom he had to move, dance, & engage the Audience. But, he just wasn’t sure about the song bc he didn’t want to taint Elvis. SO, he played it for Michael J. (Yes, they were friends!). And Michael told him he HAD TO, he said “Freddie, you have to”! (Can’t you just see that!?). NEXT FREDDIE’s VOICE. HE HAD 4 extra teeth so that’s the reason he had such an overbite. He had the ability to naturally flow from Octave to Octave. It was a natural progression, for him. SCIENTIFICALLY: Test were done on his Voice. He was able to use his Throat muscles on either side of his vocal cords. Which is normally seen in some Opera Singers. His Vocal Range was from Low Bass F, to High Soprano F! They were extremely surprised to find out that he could go from about 92Hz to 784Hz, effortlessly! See ACTUAL REPORT BELOW: nyone who has listened to a Queen track knows that Freddie has a unique ability that still has not been truly replicated since. His ability to blend highs, lows and mid range notes cohesively and with immense precision. This skill was due to the fact that Freddie was able to create faster vibrato and harmonics than any other singer at the time. Not only this, he was able to shift through registers effortlessly. Although he naturally held a baritone voice, he primarily sang as a tenor and of course had no problem then shifting into soprano parts. One study on Freddie’s vocal range even confirmed that he was able to vary from about 92.2 Hz to 784 Hz, meaning he was reliably able to hit notes from the booming low of F#2 to the high pitch G5 - that covers a full three octaves! LAST FUN FACT: His Lead Guitarist is playing on a Guitar he & his Father made. When he first starting to learn they were too poor to afford a high end guitar. So, they just made one! The included some “extras” that would normally have to be separate instruments to get all those features (think Concerts when you see guitarist changing Guitars depending on the Song….that’s why he didn’t)! It is actually all 1 Song!) LEAD GUITARIST: Brian May’s family couldn’t afford a Guitar so he & his Dad made it from an old Cabinet. Because they were making it there are a lot of extra features that he wanted. It is truly a “one of a kind”! Fun Facts: The kisses are for his Mom bc she is watching on T.V. The reason he waves his arms sideways is to tell the cameramen which direction he is going bc he moves around so much! The kicks are to get the cables out of the way.

Queen is great live. All four of them played their instruments extremely well, wrote songs, sang beautifully, and arranged their songs. They put on a terrific show with Freddie being the most flamboyant showman. They were pure talent. One of the best bands ever!

As ever Queen smashed it, another great band AC/DC live at River Plate Argentina absolutely superb.

That wasn't even a queen crowd, it was a famine reluef concert and Freddie just blew everyone away. And Queen were essentially a supergroup - they all wrote multiple massive hits, they all played multiple instruments and only John Deacon, the base player, didn't really sing. Freddie had a throat infection and was advised not to sing. Deacon retired in 1997, 6 years after Freddue's death, he was devastated and couldn't carry on.

.. and that was Freddie Mercury with a horrible trout infection…. he was advised by the doctor to not perform…

The Two constables att he beginning were performers. Radio personalities. It was a gag. I was a young guy at Ft Bragg (Now Fort Liberty) when this aired . Myself and a bunch of freinds were at a cook out and were mesmerized when Queen hit the stage onj TV. We all immediately knew we were watching history in the making . We were not wrong!

Freddie was told by doctors not to do this show the day before as he suffers from vocal nodes, which are benign growths on his vocal cords which cause him to get laryngitis and was suffering really badly here. He was warned that doing this show could have lasting, damaging effects to his voice and still delivered the performance of multiple lifetimes

IDK why you were so shocked by the brevity. They said they were just “stepping in” and getting back on the road… lol. Hit it and get it. Love these guys. 😊

For the entire time Freddie was on that stage he literally had the planet in his hand. From our homes we all sang and clapped along with him. That's why it is truly the greatest performance in music history.

Now you understand what Freddie said - "What instrument do you play Freddie? Freddie replied: "The audience Darling, the audience." He made you feel like you were the only person he was singing to. There were 72,000 people in the stadium and since it was broadcast world wide, over a Billion watched this live! About the "Beer" on the piano, most of it is Apple juice, Freddie knew how to take care of his "Instrument"

The band were very tight. They had a very strict time to perform and they had rehearsed it to the second. The sound onstage was awful and they could not hear one another (you will see a lot of visual cues between them throughout the performance.) They were incredibly professional and it shows! Four fantastic musicians at the top of their game. Well maybe not Freddie, whose voice was not at its best here because he had a severe throat infection and was advised not to sing. You mentioned tequila - he did have a vodka or two before the performance for medicinal reasons (obviously). Thank goodness he didn't follow that advice. They stole the show! RIP Freddie 💔

The more relaxed I was and was able to have more fun! It's weird I guess.. but yeah.. the more people I played for.. the more fun I had.. and the more fun they had!! Some people are like that lmao

I used to preform for people all the time back in the day (Guitarist and Singer) And I ALWAYS drank beer!! Now.. Beer may not be good for your vocals... but it's great for your beer drinking audience!! Because they are too buzzed and having too good of a time to notice the bad vocals in the first place lol!!! So.. IMO.. I might as well drink beer too and Enjoy like they do! lmfao

This was not a Queen audience as they were not on the schedule when tickets were sold. Many who went for other artists, came away Queen fans. They practiced their music for about a week to be sure they could cover as much of their songs in the allotted time, shortening some What the light right side of stage move from green, to yellow then yellow with blinking red. When Freddie indicates to stop, the light will turn red and the power to the instruments would have shut down, but they had completed their set. Queen was used to playing stadiums so no problem for them

I saw Queen several times beginning in 1975 and they gave it their all in every one of their concerts.

Before their set, Freddie told Brian Roger and John that he was HIV positive. Of course it affected the world and the press were total morons but Bassist John Deacon was deeply affected by Freddie passing away. He did the memorial concert in 1992 but in 1998 retired for good. I'm a gay Australian guy and the way the press handled it in Britain and here in OZ was fucking pathetic. Dave Grohl was dead right. Queens Live Aid performance is considered the best live performance of all time. I'm 63 but feel like a 20 year old. I saw Queen here in Melbourne Victoria twice and twice with Adam Lambert. There were so many people watching it live all over the world that the police gave up on noise complaints here in Melbourne. I got together 2 JBL bass speakers and 4 JBL satellites around my lounge with a 3 gun projector.When Queen finally came on, I pumped up the volume. The streets were freezing but no one gave a shit. There was no agro or fights. I invited people in to watch it. Man I miss those days. RIP Freddie You are surely missed. GENIUS Queen smoked it!

Us old folks are used to the audio/video quality. 😄😂 I saw Queen back in 1978 and Freddie was already having the crowd sing back back to him, whatever he threw out there. It wasn't a set thing like all the AaaaOhhhhs at Live Aid. Just when he felt like at the time. They are great in concert for many reasons, my personal ones are that they never tried to recreate the studio performance. You got something different every time. And they had songs that were just made for the crowd to sing and perform. I hope you enjoy your journey down the Queen rabbit hole. ✌💖😃
