Pomme is yet another rabbit hole. Her lyrics for the last verse show why French lyrics rarely translate well. The shape and sound of the words are a key to the music.
This song is such a story telling.
Agreed, Pomme is worth exploring, even if you don't understand a word she says. Her stuff is so good, and she's also an excellent live performer. I honestly didn't expect to like her own stuff very much, but obviously I was an idiot.

My favorit colab of Aurora. I love their harmony, Pomme going lower in one part and higher in the other, pure magic to my ears. They made a 1h+ video wher they are just taking tru IG (I think) and it's so fun to get to know how they ''created'' this colab during pandemic with out being able to meet. Actualy they met for the first time few minute befor they shot this video, pretty cool to see how Pomme is teaching to Aurora to pronouce her french part. Fun fact: when Aurora came in Montreal Pomme was in the audiance, (as she live part time in Québec/part time in Paris) when Aurora present the song some ppl shout out that Pomme was their and Aurora was so excited to see her, Pomme didn't get on stage for the song, but she did in Paris few weeks after. This dress on Aurora is EVERYTHING. She looks like a celestial Goddess. She's so fair, soft, and innocent looking, but the she looks amazing in red. She has a similar green dress, but I absolutely love the red version.

Let me introduce you to Pomme.
Her real name is Claire Pommet and her stage name is Pomme which means Apple in french.
She will be soon 27 yo, from Lyon in France, and is multi-talented :
- amazing voice: she often exposes her beautiful lower range but there are songs where she exposes amazing upper range : check her duet with Aurora where she harmonizes on top of Aurora in the second chorus ,
- great instrumentalist: she plays guitar, autoharp, piano, cello, vocoder, banjo, synthetizer, …),
- she composes and writes almost all of her songs.
- She is also an actress (lead role in the movie "La Vénus d’Argent" released in November 2023) and
- She is a writer ( she wrote a book for the youth titled "Sous les paupières").
She erupted on the french musical scene about 9 years ago, with some covers and duets on YT, when she was 18 yo .
Then late 2017 she had her first stage performance in Paris and she released her first Album "A peu près".
She wrote 2 songs on this first album.
But since then, she has composed/written ALL songs from their next 3 albums: the second album "Les Failles", released in 2019, the 3rd called "Consolation" released in august 2022 and a recent one in 2024 titled "Saisons".
She is famous in France: she has won the Best Newcomer Album award in Les Victoires de la musique 2020 (France music award ceremony) and she has won the Best Female Artist award in the 2021 edition.
She starts to be recognized on the international scene as well:
- Aurora is a fan of her (Pomme also is a fan of Aurora since 2015) and Pomme was the first featuring on an Aurora album (wonderful duet called "Everything matters" ua-cam.com/video/yX8bYwl9rKc/v-deo.html ) , they started a nice friendship, we can expect some additional collab in the future.
- Billie Eilish also stated she is a fan and subscribed to Pomme’s channel: she probably has discovered Pomme thru her cover of Bad Guy and Billie, when she was on french radio, talked about Pomme and asked Pomme to text her so they can get in touch. Later Pomme said they did. Again Pomme is a fan of Billie and made this very beautiful french cover of Bad Guy with an autoharp.
- She is also highly praised by Julia and Angus Stone or Asaf Avidan that picked her for the opening of their concerts in France in 2018 . Julia invited her later to cover her hit Big Jet Plane with her autoharp on the album Songs for Australia (record from many artists to fund the battle against fires in Australia) and Julia , when she decided to sing a song in french, also asked Pomme to write the lyrics of a french translation of her hit Dance. They performed recently several duets together.
Pomme plays autoharp since she is 14 yo, she explained she discovered this instrument as an absolute fan of the folk and country music ( fan of Joan Baez, Dolly Parton, ...)
She defines her music as Authentic, Acoustic and Sad. She said there is always hope in her songs however.
For some of her songs, hope is visible at the surface and some others, you have to dig down.
Her songs relate to the Nature and the environment, to her own story and family, to different social issues (eg La lumiere is a song on Alzheimer's disease) and also her experience as a young lesbian girl.
She said she is transforming her dreams and nightmares into songs or visuals for her videos.
Her lyrics are poetic, she loves to leave room for personal interpretation and reinterpretation.

I already knew about Pomme before this song, so when it came out I was so exited, Pomme is one of my favorite french singers, maybe in the top 3, I love french music, I think I have like 600 songs in french, I have more french music on spotify than spanish music (my native language) and Im watching Pomme live in her first time in México ever this may 24, and just bought some signed vinyls from her official store.

The acoustic version of Cure For Me is pretty nice and different from the original. She has an audio-only version on her channel and she also performed it on P3 (same session that she did Rasputin).

I'm glad you got round this as it is definitely the best version of Aurora and Pomme singing this song IMHO, better than the album version, and up there with the very best of Aurora. It really is divine. Out of interest, there is a video of Pomme meeting up with Aurora, and teaching her some French. I think it's for this performance, as Aurora is wearing this dress, and it's the only time I've seen a video of her wearing this dress. There are several other videos of this song being performed on UA-cam, including one at a big concert on stage, and another in a TV studio type setting. Each has its own particular charm, but IMHO, this is the best. I've also seen a UA-cam video of Pomme performing this solo.

As a french, i knew Pomme before discovering this duet, and was a fan of her "Les failles" album. Otherwise, I may never have known about Aurora ! 😳
Then, little by little, I went through Aurora's songs : The seed, The river, Runaway, Cure for me and so on... What a wonder !

Before Aurora, I listened (and still listen) a lot to a French singer named "Zaz". She, like Aurora, has meaningful lyrics wrapped in happy and sweet music. Pomme reminds me a lot of Zaz and thanks to this collaboration with Aurora I discovered her. There are some clips on YT of Pomme and Aurora which show that they have become good friends with each other and I hoped that they would make a little more music together. (In one of the videos they actually talked about it, but if it comes to anything... we'll see). We've talked so many times about how good Aurora's voice is (even in French) that I don't need to highlight it anymore and I think Pom's voice falls a little short here. But it's a great start to Tuesday... thx as always. (I'm not commenting on your hair today but....😅 )

I'm with you, Ashlena, this song is very special, even by Aurora standards, and this is my favorite version. I get the sense this isn't an easy song to sing (with those note acrobatics), but Aurora just crushes it live, exactly as you'd expect. Pomme's part is easier, but that takes nothing away from her performance too. As someone else suggested, she's another rabbit hole worth diving into. She is way more talented than even this song and performance suggests.
