Mine was a 1995 2500 4x4 with the 5 speed manual trans and 4:10 gears, 33" tires stock and 10mpg. Pretty base model, my biggest bitch was it just wasn't easy to drive , I had the complete front end rebuilt, aligned and it just was too hard on the track bar, worn out in 6000 miles. Crappy front end and I even had an aftermarket frame brace that tied the steering box and frame rails together. My 99 Cummins 3500 dually 2x4 drove like a dream. Not the 95. Good luck, excellent video.
If you have an issue w/ the smog/air pump, please do a video breakdown on the delete if you choose to do so (pump is an obsolete part now). Evidently a shorter belt & modifying the tensioner pulley can accomplish such but we're unclear on the specifics here in Florida (another V10 owner i know is dealing w/ same issue). Thanks in advance!
you dont need no 4x4 :) just mash her in 2wd i just picked up a mint 2000 dodge ram 1500 5.9 magnum 146k miles its 2wd.... cant wait to road trip her and get her going
@@moparmaniac5206 if its a five speed you have nothing to worry about. The V-10 was built to work hard and does it very well, it was not built to commute to the office everyday. Expect 10-12 miles per gallon and more power than you'll probably ever need. I seen one pull a 60,000 pound houseboat out of the water and that is on UA-cam! If you need fuel economy get a Pruis.
@@happydays2741 thanks happy days. The truck actually is an auto I believe. Should I do a fav job and switch over to a manual. And yes I know that video you were talking ab that was crazy 😂. The guy who’s selling has a 3rd Gen Cummins 2500 and said he pulled a semi 2 miles down the highway bc on of the tires blew out
Cross country road trips are the best. I’ve went to Colorado a few times and also New Jersey to buy stuff. (From WI). It’s just so fun to get out and do crazy stuff not many people do.
I got a 95 shorty Ram with the 5.9 V8. I LOVE my truck. Seeing your truck parked in the parking garage made me simle. Love these second gen Rams. All Rams actually. Would love to own a V10 Ram one day. If I had to get a big towing rig. That would be the one
Hard to believe that you can't find a 20 year old rust free truck in Wisconsin.😅😅.Just busting your chops. Here in Buffalo everything has rust after 3 years.Enjoy your videos.
I recently purchased a 1998 Ram 2500 V10. It's an automatic, club cab but with the two rear doors, 4x4 8ft bed. 118k miles. Does your son still have it?
Someone is selling a 96 2500 SLT v10 automatic for 2,000 OBO. Looks in amazing shape cosmetic wise. Well taken care of. Is that a sketchy low price for one of these or just possibly a steal or average price?
It's crazy watching this video because when you were showing driving through Utah you passed right by my town. That Maverick you stopped at is maybe 10 minutes from my house, if you would've got off the exit right before and headed west you would've come right into my town (Plain City). Just cool to be able to recognize all the scenery in a video. Also a pretty sweet pickup on the truck, 4x4 would be better but hey you got a road trip out of it and those are always great.
I really liked this video, and I subscribed as a result. Just a suggestion though - ditch the background music except for during fast forward type shots - it is distracting and frankly you are much more interesting than the music. Keep up the good work.
I just bought my Father-in-law's 99 Ram 8L V-10 4wd Short bed quad cab. I can't wait to see what you do to your truck good luck. My first project is replace the heater core the second is the dash. Thanks for the content.
Matt tells me it was ended in 2003 in this form. However the SRT10 truck was available 2002-2006. SRT10 was a Viper engine. I feel the variant that is ours was in competition with the diesel engines. Obviously the Cummins won out regulardless of its higher maintenance cost.
Those old dodge trucks are comfie enough for long road trips, they just are not affordable to drive. I think the v10 got worse gas mileage than the old 440 hemi.
@@fsctrucking nice.....i have to turn off my over drive....at least im supposed to.....and wow that kills the mileage plus i was towing a giant 5th wheel on the 75 through KY and TN mtns........thirsty girl
I give my respect to the seller for giving him a full tank of gas✊🏾
That isn’t cheap either
Makes me miss my 96 2500 V10 4x4. Hopefully buying another soon. Good content!

I'm digging the tunes on this clip!
The beautiful Utah scenery, and the cute prairie dogs
The V10 starts like that even with a new battery they ALWAYS have that initial starting pause lol

Yo, I’m trying to buy one and it’s a 99 w 160k miles and a shot rear brake line. What problems should I expect besides the bad gas mileage

I would swap out the automatic for a 5er. The automatic transmissions in them years for Dodge didn't seem to hold up very well.

Nothing particular. We've had no issues with her so far.
I have a 1996 no rust no problems and she has 250,000 miles does burn oil or lose any fluids!
