I remember when this pattern came out in 2014 in the crochet world magazine I love it because it makes the yarn so soft as you go on with the pattern. Best pattern ever.

Question, why turn the work? Why not just work in the front ? Does it look different ?

If working in the round, you can choose either way, with the back side facing, or with the front side facing. If working rows, it will be necessary to turn to work the second row. Personally, I find it is easier to work the second row with the back side facing. Either way it should look about the same.
