    Thank you! I bought the cross baby blanket pattern a couple of years ago when our grandson was born. Now I'm making it again for our expected great nephew! The video was such a helpful reminder and aid to the written pattern. Thank you.

    That's how I learned to crochet the cable stitch over 20 years ago. Thank you for bringing it back I couldn't remember how to do the next row after the cables and come out even with the first row.

    I would see that border pattern called... I believe The wave pattern worked back n forth and I searched everywhere for it in rows or even a stitch count so I could make a blanket for my future husband without success. Tonight here I am looking for borders to use on a fleece throw for him and you've got a pattern. Bless your heart. Perfect! 😊

    OMG Bonnie you are the cats meow. I only discovered your UA-cam channel today while learning to do cables, woven stitch and knurl stitches. Many thanks for your clear instructions and soft flowing voice.

    This was just the video I needed!! I’m trying to follow this vintage sweater tutorial and they used this exact stitch, but they didn’t specify that the used stitch doesn’t count as a skipped stitch. There was not a single tutorial out there that talked about this type of cable stitch, so thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

    Hi Bonnie!! I just did a practice piece of your cable design - what a beautiful look! It has so much relief to it. Other crochet cables, although pretty, seemed too flat to me. My Grandmother, God rest her sweet soul, would have loved this. She would think it's nothing short of genius! It's the piece I've been looking for to add to a pocket shawl that I'm designing. Thank you for your generosity in sharing this with us. God bless you! Meredith

      +Glenn K. You are very welcome! I think you will find all the stitches you need on my channel. Just be sure to follow the pattern as the primary, and the videos as secondary. The patterns will vary as to how to start and end rows, among other things. Many blessings to you Glenn!

      @@BonnieBayCrochet I have to say using as the divider in this Afghan(one row of the knurl Stitch followed by four rows of SC then the cable Stitch, followed by four more rows of SC then one row of the knurl Stitch...it's very striking! Goes very well with this Tree of Life Afghan. I'm on my second Afghan. I've changed it up quite a bit. My center panel is not six trees. I combined a grouping of two trees into one giant tree using an 8 post cable Stitch as the trunk. As each branch died off I used a bobble Stitch at the tip. I'm thinking I will do leaf appliques "falling" on each side of my middle panel with the giant tree. My top panel will be the same as the bottom on the original pattern. I wasn't big on the flower section on my first one. But it did turn out nice! as much as I made it for myself when I was finished God laid upon my heart to gift it to a friend last week whose mother is in hospice. She's been through a lot...Sent to her with the Afghan, the poem by Johnny Rider Jr called The Oak tree. Very fitting for her and this Afghan... Trees who have lost their leaves. My friend is the oak tree and she's still standing 🙏🏻

    Beautiful border stitch but discovered it tightens/shortens the project. Made a circle poncho and used this as a border but had to unravel it to widen my project bc it made the poncho too snug.

    • @BonnieBayCrochet
      @BonnieBayCrochet  7 років тому

      Yes, this is a denser stitch, but works better in rows. When added to stretchier stitches, it does help to give them more definition and stability. For the bottom of a poncho, definitely go with a more flexible/stretchy stitch to give a nice drape.

    I've always wanted to do this stitch, thanks to this video I can! Question ... after the cable row you then did a row of singles ... should I do another row of singles before doing the cable row again? Or would you start the cable row right after the single row? I sure hope this made sense. Thank You very much for your tutorials!

    • @BonnieBayCrochet
      @BonnieBayCrochet  6 років тому

      Row 2 of this stitch is a row of single crochets worked in a specific manner (per the above video). You will need to work this row before moving on to either another row of cables or any other stitch. I hope this helps!

    How can this be done on a corner edge of a crochet piece? Would it be the same amount of stitches for the cable or more/less?

    • @BonnieBayCrochet
      @BonnieBayCrochet  3 роки тому +1

      Great question Namrita. I would add extra stitches in the corner the row before working the cable stitch and you should be fine.

  • @abbycole7485

    I was learning the stitches to make the Gaithsberg Stole and the stitch guide in the book is very misleading for this particular stitch. I had finished the row of sk 2 sc, sc in 3rd, etc before realizing it wouldn't work in any way. Please initiate a change for future versions of your "Contemporary Celtic Crochet" book, i crossed everything out after step 5 and hand wrote it instead!

      Yes, weird things happen during the editing process at a publishing house...things that are sometimes beyond the control of the author. This has been corrected and is in the on-line errata on my website. I hope you are able to understand this stitch better with this video.
