    I have been a Hasselblad shooter for 52 years now. Currently using the X2D. That said, I have always wanted a TS lens in medium format. I've shot with large format cameras, and have long owned a Nikon 24mm TS lens. I have been eyeing this Fuji lens for quite a while now. I whole-heartedly agree with what you said towards the end of the video - I am willing to purchase a GFX body just so I can purchase and use this 30mm TS lens! Great informative video, as usual!!

    I have to say the truth: this is the first good and thorough review I see on this lens, thank you for it!
    Might get this lens to pair with my 100 II :)

    The 30 T/S is a phenomenal lens. It hasn't been off my original GFX 100 since I bought it. An absolutely essential lens for architecture and a great landscape photography lens too. It is expensive but the mechanics of the lens are top notch and justify the price.

    Fuji redefining once more the standards for Medium Format. Thanks for the comprehensive presentation, top as always. - According to the Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) I was always tempted to get into MF by the X2D. Unfortunately there are so many reports about wobbly lens mounts and that is honestly not acceptable at that price tag. Even old entry level Canon 550D doesn’t suffer of that X2D issue; if it makes click, the lenses are totally fixed. Or on my Leica SL and M, it is fixed like welded. It’s a little bit a pity Hasselblad has that mount issue on the X2D, I never read or heard something similar for the X1D and X1D II. - It would be nice to have some RAFs you don’t use as samples for download and pixel peeping. 😅

    A great feature here (distinguishing this from the usual Canon / Nikon alternatives) is that the lens actually sits fixed when mounted on a tripod using the tripod mount adapter, and it is the camera body that is shifted as necessary. In this way, you avoid parallax when stitching. This is similar to the XT, of course...but even more flexible in that it allows tilt also in vertical orientation.

    In your hands even Fujifilm HiRes 400 mpx works. Astonishing! I learned new things from your illustration of the lateral/cross shift of the tilt function. Thank you. Greetings.

    Thank you for this video. I have been waiting for the (rumored 60mp) Z7 III to be officially announced before I make my decision between it and the Fuji GFX line. The fact that Nikon has not even bothered to make a tilt shift for the mirrorless line has me leaning toward the Fuji. What an amazing piece of glass! great demonstrations as well… I appreciate your efforts!

    I would love to see some of your horizontal panoramas from use with this lens. Especially at 15mm of shift. I have found that there is considerable distortion on the far edge of the shifted files, especially noticeable on man made objects like buildings where the dimensions are known. I am seeing elongation and flattening towards the edges of the shifted images, and the amount is considerable. Thanks Paul

    This was a delightful presentation with science and examples. I've never shot with tilt and shift, but I've been curious about it since I first read about the Nikkor F mount tilt and shift lenses and the Zone 6 4" x 5" cameras. As usual, your explanations and examples made everything clear.

    Lovely video of this extraordinary lens. It reminded of how much I liked working with plate cameras which had their lenses on a rack and bellows. Still life photography can be so creative with focus control like this. Seeing this video has made me think about Fujifilm more seriously as a medium format option. No leaf shutter a la Hasselblad but that needn’t be a big drawback. How does the colour science compare? Fuji has a good reputation in that area.

    • @mathphotographer
      @mathphotographer  8 місяців тому

      Colour science at Fuji is great too, and lots of vintage film filters hard to reproduce yourselves in post-processing, so go for the Fuji pre-settings :)

    really nice! But for now I am happy with the pixel shift on the SL2, works amazing. Tried it now on Sony A7RC... well you need to import the individual file into Sony's desktop app and combine it there... too much hassle.

    • @VitVids
      @VitVids 8 місяців тому +1

      Leica SL2 also takes care of RGB aberration when parts of the image are moving (eg leaves or grass) while GFX creates artifacts that ruin the image.
      I own X2D and really happy with it, but I wish it had more lenses. H system had tilt shift adapter, maybe Hasselblad will make one for X system

    • @mathphotographer
      @mathphotographer  8 місяців тому +1

      Leica SL2 pixel shift is the easiest since the work is done automatically in camera. Thanks Armin.

      Multishot is fine but it will not help with distrotion of the lens only give you more freedom for crop. Tilt shift keeps everything straight.

    Interesting video. Thank you.
    I have been using a Canon 24 TSEii adapted to a GFX 50R & I very much like the combo. However, I went on a 2 day over night wild camping trip in the Lake District, UK, & I now realise that I need to reduce my back pack weight (my camping gear is pretty light weight already). So, I started looking for an alternative to the 24TSEii - & weight is the one reason why I would not consider this GF30T&S lens. I've ended up with a Nikon 28 PC lens adapted to the GFX 50R, it is much lighter & more compact that either the 24TSEii or the GF30T&S. Granted, shift & tilt will be limited, but I will have to live with that if it is a question of taking such a lens on a trip or leaving it behind because it is too heavy.

    thanks for the great video, i currently use the canon lenses to shift. The question is if the metadata information of the shift does reflect on the lens vignetting correction? or is that not a factor in this lens since it is not an extrem wide-angle.

I have the sl2s reporter edition and I would love to add the Summicron 28mm safari to my collection. Can you tell me if the safari green or military green as you call it is the same kind of green used on the sl2s reporter edition? Many thanks in advance, Peter.

    • @VitVids
      @VitVids 8 місяців тому

      @@memcrew1 I guess convinced with the statement in the beginning of the video that GFX is the best medium format camera now.
      I’ve seen a video from another photographer (Wil Moreno) on UA-cam who had X2D, sold it to get GFX 100 II, and now switched back as he couldn’t get the same color quality out of GFX even after hours of editing.
      I don’t have GFX and never tried it, but X2D does produce really good colors indeed. I tried to simulate them with my Nikon and couldn’t get there either.
