- A Persona 3 remake is finally happening... and yet another Persona 5 game. What do I think of either after watching the two announcement trailers? Check it out here.
Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica are coming in late 2023 and early 2024. Persona 3 Reload is a remake of Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable. Persona 5 Tactica is a follow up to the smash hit Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal.

I get that P5 has had a lot of years, it's lasted longer than the P4 era, but really, game-wise, it's about as much as P4. More if you count the gacha stuff, but that's not the same.
P4 has Golden, Arena, Ultimax and Dancing. P5 has Royal, Strikers, Dancing and Tactica.
This is true, though I think the difference between the P4 and P5 spin-offs and sequels is that the P4 ones were of much smaller scale compared to the mainline Persona games, whereas some of the P5 ones are standard RPG length. Hell, Q2’s nearly as long as your average Persona title, Strikers isn’t too far behind, and I dare say Tactica won’t be a short romp either. That’s a lot of time dedicated to the Phantom Thieves when vanilla and Royal were already astronomically lengthy games.
@@TrashorTreasure I'll give you that. Give or take the length of one Arena game (but that's not the same due to the genre emphasising competitive play rather than a story even if they're canon).
Sadly there won’t be any male party member s links and I doubt whatever they’ll be adding to make up for it will be worth it. I still like the social links for the girls and I personally buy into Sees being friends by the end of the game and that the members are way closer with each other by the end unlike the beginning. I also feel like them being more like coworkers is the point for the most part and there is legitimate tension between the members. Especially Yukari and Mitsuru. Hopefully the remake addresses most of your gripes with P3. Man I wish they put the answer in though. Regardless of how people feel about it(mostly negative) remaking P3 is a great opportunity to improve on the answer. It’s bewildering that people don’t want the answer and are glad it’s not in the game because they didn’t like it. Guys. Things can be improved.
I totally agree with your sentiment regarding Persona 5. It’s one of my favorite games, but I was sick of it after Royal. I don’t even care about Strikers, and I only bought Q2 due to FOMO (and rising prices of 3DS games)

There's a very simple explanation for that: it's a Persona 3 remake, not a Persona 3 Portable remake. And the reason they're remaking the original is so that fans and newcomers alike can experience the game. They're gonna focus on reworking the combat and UI, as well as dungeon design. The female main protagonist was not present in the original game. She was originally introduced in a remastered port made for the PSP, which btw just got re-released. If you'd like to experience that entirely unique version of the game, you are free to do so at a relatively cheap price on all modern consoles and PC. This version of the game isn't available outside of the PC, and I'd prefer they put in the work to make the combat and dungeon design more interesting and enjoyable than try to figure out how to do that twice with two characters with two different stories. Tbh, the only reason they went that route on P3P was because the game, outside of dungeons, was presented as a visual novel with 2d pictures and half-baked backgrounds. If they presented it like the original P3, they'd have to rework a lot of the characters actual animations during the romancing, to make it so that they male characters will decide whether or not they're into you based on your gender. It's basically putting in double the animation work, and that's just not a realistic expectation, especially if it's going to be a real remake, where the gameplay and dungeons are designed more like P5. And theyre most likely gonna rework all of the stylization of the third game to fit in more with the bright colors and grungey, street art designs of the UI in 4 & 5. Not to mention, they're completely reworking about 150 hours of gameplay from the original...addinf on the female protagonist would literally double the work load. Basically, of course they're leaving out the female main character, because she's not important to the overall experience of the original P3. She's important in portable bc they structured the game around her inclusion.

I'm more excited for Persona 5 Tactica than Persona 3 Reload. I get why many wouldn't be as excited for P5T either due to P5 fatigue, or because P3 is finally getting a remake. I lived through the Persona 4 era of milking, so I understand because I was pretty tired of P4 by the end of the era when we were gearing up for P5, but the difference between how I felt back then vs how I feel now is that I actually really, really prefer the P5 cast by a massive degree and want more of them, so I'm not feeling fatigued at all with P5. I think P5T looks super fun, and I absolutely love that the art style is similar to the Persona Q games since I love their chibi art styles, too. Still have my fingers crossed that we get one more P5 game after P5T and that it ends up being Persona 5 Arena.
As for Persona 3 Reload, I'm still excited for it. Persona 3 was my very first Persona game over a decade ago. I have fond memories rushing home from school to play more of it until the credits finally rolled. Other than me just liking P5 more, I think a reason my hype for P3R is a bit lower is because I never really thought P3 needed a remake; the original version is still very much playable. I'm also disappointed that ATLUS is only covering The Journey and not combining the elements from both FES and Portable. It's like majority of fans were clamoring for a remake to be a definitive version, but now it's just an extra version of P3 that exists.
Also Atlus basically wants everything to be P5. A tactics game - P5, a remake - make it like P5, a random phone game - P5 spinoff

Persona 5 tactica is out!
Only issue so far with P3: Reload is the entire original voice cast is not going to be reprising their role. I’d get it if was just going to be Vic Mignogna (Junpei Iori) but they could have easily gotten the rest of the cast. This comes off as more of a financial decision rather than artistic one. Nothing against the new cast I heard some of their samples and I think they will do a great job but those are some big shoes too fill so the jury is out on that one. At least both games will be day one on game pass so I don’t have to break the bank to play them.
It could be a financial decision, though it could also be that the original VAs voices might be too deep or age has caught up to them. They might be able to do shorter lines, like in P3D, but maybe an entire game might be asking too much from them whilst still believing that they still sound like teenagers. Then again, they are professionals, so who knows? ATLUS is weird.
@@TrashorTreasure I don’t think age makes sense when people like Yuri Lowenthal still get plenty of roles*coughSpiderman2*. Now scheduling is a strong possibility perhaps they wanted to do a global release and couldn’t get the original cast back together in time. I’m still leaning on the financial angle cause it makes the most sense to me. Especially with how greedy Atlus has been lately. Well Metaphor: refantazio looks cool can’t wait to see more of that.
@@TrashorTreasure I'm mostly gonna say age has caught up to them since its probably gonna be pretty hard for them to redo the same voice from years past so knowing atlas they probably gonna try their best to get sound likes or at best new voice actors to try get the job done

It's fine for me that they don't include "the answer", but I don't think femc is too much, I hope atlus doesn't sell them as dlc, hopefully not, someone is excited about the remixes, I hope they do a remix of danger zone.
P3 is one of the modern Persona's I enjoyed so I'll be checking out the remake.
As for the P5 milking, it's not surprising. Remember how much they milked Persona 4? I just wish they port SMT V on other platforms aside from Switch but they can't be assed.

In the Atlus official web site they say that there's not going to be any content from FES and Portable, so they are just remaking the original P3...60$ for less content I guess
