This was my first Kirby game and my first time being introduces to the little gumball, so needless to say it holds a special place in my heart. So seeing Adeleine show up in Star Allies made me incredibly happy. Then I saw Ribbon. My heart nearly exploded. KIRBY X RIBBON FOR LIFE
it wasnt my 1st kirby game(that honor goes to adventure.:3) but it was what made me really love the kirby series world and its music is still cherished in my heart and i love the characters it introduced like the fairy queen, adelienes new look and ribbon(i love ribbon and kirby's interactions, they're the closest kirby has had to a romantic interaction and compared to other nintendo couples were at times it ambigous or not explored its cute for how simple and sweet it is.:3) i really hope the next kirby game brings back the other characters and cutscenes for each world like this, dreamland 3 and nightmare in dreamlands intro's.
This is my favorite of the dark matter trilogy. I still like how this game looks, my problem with it though is that it's a very slow paced kirby. Favorite songs are Aqua star Factory Quiet forest Apple basket minigame Ripple star 02 theme Shiverstar Rock star

I'm surprised this is the first one that made you sad. The plot of Planet Robobot is that a father loses his daughter in another dimension and thinks her dead, only to spend his time inventing machines and gathering resources and money to find her... only to be so corrupted by his greed that he forgets his daughter entirely and doesn't remember her when she comes back.

The first Kirby I played (actually ended up getting this instead of the GBA e-reader, good choice there), and honestly it's the only one I've thoroughly enjoyed. The powerup system and shard puzzles add just enough depth and variety to keep me engaged every time. I love the environments and music as well, it's just an overall very appealing package imo.

3:14 - The other games that used the D-Pad for movement was mostly wrestling games, most famously the 4-Horsemen of N64 Wrestling Games by AKI aka WCW vs nWo World Tour, WCW/nWo Revenge, WWF WrestleMania 2000, and WWF No Mercy. There are more such as WWF WarZone and WWF Attitude, but I think you meant in terms of platforming. The only other game I can think of that uses the D-Pad for movement in the platforming genre on the N64 is Mischief Makers. It allows you to use either the D-Pad or Analog Stick
Tony Hawk games for the N64 allowed the dpad to be used or the analog stick. Being a game very focused on input combos, playing with the analog stick is definitely worse

4:25 You may not need to wait long Johnny, as after the most recent Kirby game (Star Allies), the HAL team has stated that the next game will be the beginning of a "new phase" for the franchise. If they're doing a big gameplay shift like that, alongside some more experimental 3D centered spinoffs being released recently (Blowout Blast & Battle Royale), I have a feeling the next big Kirby game is gonna be a full scale 3D adventure. That's where my hopes lie at least.
yeah, they experimented with Kirby's basic moveset with Blowout blast, then did the same with a lot of the abilities in Battle Royale (they even made sleep usable lol), with Star allies they also already made an HD game. Now they just need to put everything together. I really hope we'll get a real 3D Kirby game for the Switch :)
I played Kirby Super Star Ultra and The Crystal Shards and I still don't get why people says Super Star is better. Yeah, Super Star Ultra was fun but it really doesn't give much reasons to replay it (and is super short) especially the dungeon one but Crystal Shards was always a blast to pass, especially with how well connected were the worlds, levels and even the cutscenes. Personally, I think Crystal shards is better mechanically and in effort. Nothing against Sakurai but Crystal Shards is far more memorable.
I know I may not need to say this, but the first kirby game to actually use 3d direction was Blowout Blast, and that was an eshop game based on a Robobot minigame, and basically just kirby 1 with a z axis. Only other games are Air Ride and Kirby The Fighters, and that's the farthest you can get from traditional kirby, so yeah, no actual big kirby adventure in 3d just yet
Kirbo's Blowout Blast is technically a 3D Kirbo game, but it was just a Kirbo minigame from Kirbo Gurren Lagan but milked to death(i know I wrote Kirbo to have a laugh and Kirbo Gurren Lagan is Planet Robobot)
If you count it, Kirby Air Ride is a full 3D Kirby game, especially City Trial mode, where you can actually get off the warp star and run/jump around (although you can't suck up bad guys when you're not on the star).
This was my first Kirby game growing up and i loved it so much. I had so much fun running around and picking new combinations. Though easy, it was an amazing experience and looking at the start screen my heart melts from nostalgia.

The closest thing kirby has EVER had to a true 3D game is in the City Trial mode in Kirby air ride. Just hop off your star machine and run around. 😉
"The best cominations are the types that combine two different flavors"
_shows the steam ability_ yes that is the best one
F-Zero also runs ar 60FPS on N64 B)
That's weird I just watched Antdudes video on Kirby 64 and right when I was done this showed up in my inbox.
13:27 Squeak Squad is a DS title. Its okay though.
4:20 anyone else rewatching this after Forgotten Land was revealed
me had to. gotta love when nintendo says oh yeah hold my beer to Johnny
I hope Johnny notices the director of superstar ultra is the same one for returns onward, the man's good with kirby.
Not gonna lie johnny ur mic doesn’t sound the same when ur talking over the game in this video
Alright, lets study
*this video came out*
Nevermind. Johnny time
Remember that the video isn’t going anywhere. Your studies will.
@@michaelrhett4958 They wont move away from my bag
Antogame 1 Fair point
Antogame 1 Because you won’t finish your studies. Lol
Fuckin love Kirby 64, I acquired it by trading a Hitmonchan Holo pkmn card in 4th grade. Best deal in the history of deals.
I was hoping he’d mention Shiver Star looking like Earth!
I NEVER KNEW YOU COULD DUCK TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE DYNAMITE. I thought it was just the worst let combo.
Johnny: Uploads video
Me at work: Time for my break. I'll be back in 15
This is my favorite of the dark matter trilogy.
I still like how this game looks, my problem with it though is that it's a very slow paced kirby.
Favorite songs are
Aqua star
Factory
Quiet forest
Apple basket minigame
Ripple star
02 theme
Shiverstar
Rock star
Johnny: We're gonna melt!
Me: So.....basically Earth is soon gonna be Mario's world 8
That part makes me sad 😞
Edit: I haven't lost hope.
Unlike Johnny.
Oof
Kirby 64, one of the many evidences, that you should't pass up every 7 out of 10 game.
To this day, Zero Two's final boss theme is still my favorite Kirby final boss track of all time. I love it that much.
Eh, Moonstruck Blossom is the best to me!
i really like zero in general. an actually creepy final boss for kirby at the time(still honestly find him and the dreamland games in general to have a rather unsettling feel for nintendo with some of the enemies and bosses like king dedede's stomach opening compared to other games which feel more epic and bright with the final boss being dark backstory-wise.) and pretty shocking for a nintendo game to show blood at the levels zero two did alongside zero's eye bursting out.
Wow.
First Kirby video that made me sad...
Time to leave the internet for a while.
@@CrazyRiverOtter I am talking about the global warming message at the end...
Unlike Johnny.
I haven't lost hope.
@@meganinten0078 Why are you calling him "Jhonny" everywhere? His name is pronounced "Johnny".
@@cloroxhammer3289 Oops.
My mistake 😅
Thanks for the help
Was about to jump in the shower. Then Johnny slaps me in the face and says "No. You watch my review instead"
This was my first childhood Kirby game like many others here. 5:38 No, I did not play Dream Land 3 and yes, I did flip my shit trying to get this crystal shard. I think it claimed at least one of my controllers.
8:34 Honestly that move reminds me of Filia from Skullgirls, specifically some of the attacks that Samson can perform. Also for whatever reason I was reminded of Kill La Kill thanks to that move.
Incognito Mode fuck yiu
The first Kirby I played (actually ended up getting this instead of the GBA e-reader, good choice there), and honestly it's the only one I've thoroughly enjoyed. The powerup system and shard puzzles add just enough depth and variety to keep me engaged every time. I love the environments and music as well, it's just an overall very appealing package imo.
Finally, Johnny's tackling the best Kirby game.
But he's not at Return to Dreamland or Squeak Squad yet...
@@MegaKH2fan No mention of Planet Robobot? Bruh...
Hub Pie He’s not doing Return to Dreamland, though
Honestly most of the Kirby games that aren't spinoff's are really easy to consider the best atleast post SNES.
Thought it was (In my opinion) Star Allies?
How would you feel about a My Hero Academia game by Hal Laboratory with Kirby and friends as secret characters.
Ah yes, my favorite in the series.
TheBassSinger fuck off dude your channel is dead. You get 2 views on your videos.
You must be fun at parties.

@@SD-uw7zu Alright, I'm just bring this last comment because we can literally do this all day. If you want a reaction from me, the congrats, I'm both rolling my eyes and mildly annoyed. I hope that my reaction satisfied you. If you legit feel angry at my mere existence for whatever reason, I'm sorry, but that's your own problem. I'm not responsive for the anger you possess on me, that's all on you. If you just want to say what you said because you want my content to either improve or you legit are giving me constructive feedback, then at best, this is the motivation for me to kick into gear and starting making more content, or at worst, a waste of time you could've been doing to actually give me critiques instead of glorifying on an absurd standard you possess. If you literally just want me to waste time replying to you with this long comment just for the kicks, then I again, I hope this has entertained you. What I'm overall saying if you were to take this comment into consideration and at heart is that you take the L now, no one would bat an eye and you would walk away. Otherwise, you're literally doing nothing productive with your time or anyone else even if you think you are. Best of luck.
Johnny you really need to stop with this long frontloaded ad reads, really kills the vids.
People keep saying this, I dunno why you're ignoring them.
“Ever heard of Dedede’s belly that’s going to chomp you up? That’s scary. For Kirby 64 this is more scary.”
Have you heard about that mf-ing pocket watch that can eat you up in while facing Star Dream in Planet Robobot? Make sure you bring that cross here 😰
No one cares if you’re first
3:14 - The other games that used the D-Pad for movement was mostly wrestling games, most famously the 4-Horsemen of N64 Wrestling Games by AKI aka WCW vs nWo World Tour, WCW/nWo Revenge, WWF WrestleMania 2000, and WWF No Mercy.
My childhood!! The first time I played it i tried to jump on all of the enemies like Mario and died immediately. Then I discovered the overpowered fridge powerup.
@Camden Cox I agree with you 100%. It kills enemies and heals you. There's no limit to it either. I think I once beat the whole game with only the Fridge (except for the parts where you have to use another power)
13:00 The saddest part of this video.
*sigh* 😞
It is all our fault...
As a person with depression it makes me want to cry :(
Edit: I haven't lost faith
It's not so much OUR fault as it is the fault of a select handful of lobbyists and entrepreneurs.
@@CrazyRiverOtter Look I don't want to waste energy talking about this topic in the internet.
I am a religious person, I haven't lost hope in the future.
Mixing the powers of Ice and Spark to turn Kirby into a refrigerator is one of the laugh-out-loud funniest moments in the entire series.
Maybe Johnny is losing it but I am one of the few people who still has hope.
As a religious person, I still have hope for the future.
Kirby squeak squad is a DS game my dude, and you also forgot about amazing mirror.
13:27 Really?
*No Kirby in 3D*
*Weeps in City Trial*
Can we all please convince Johnny to play Kirby Air Ride?
12:26
_"But if you're looking for a colorful Kirby game that's easy to jump into and gives you plenty to experiment with... then play Kirby Super Star Ultra."_
Gladly, if I didn't play the everloving Hell out of that game in my younger years.
I'm not jumping into this comment section but I'm challenging anyone reading this to find the comments with idiots denying global warming.
Found plenty already!
Shit Johnny, that ending video was depression. Now you sound like Nicholas Cage from the movie Knowing.
That part made me want to cry :'(
4:25 You may not need to wait long Johnny, as after the most recent Kirby game (Star Allies), the HAL team has stated that the next game will be the beginning of a "new phase" for the franchise.
I feel like at times I'm the only one who remembers Blowout Blast which technically is a full 3D Kirby game
Yeah, Blowout Blast is amazing.
Kirby's Blowout Blast is technically a dedicated 3D game. However, it's very simplistic & short.
This is by far my favorite Kirby game and nobody seems to talk about it these days.
A SomeCallMeJohnny review is here!!! Better throw those tax forms to the side and sit my Butt down and watch.
7:02 "...like a glorious fire chicken!"
I believe the word you're looking for is pheonix.
So Moltres?
No hate on Audible or anything, but if I want to hear commentary with a smooth buttery voice and have a laugh sometimes, I'll just put on John's videos in the background while I'm doing something boring.
