Can't speak for this, but Mass Effect 2 was a good game.
Yeah 2 was pretty good as well. More centralized than 1 sadly not a lot of exploring planets and stations.. Then came 3 and ME became an onrails shooter.
Robert King mass 2 my favourite one and I love first one. I did like third one but 1,2 were the best. Andromeda is another story I better wait when this game will be on sale game don't look promising to me

MrCurbinator sure no X-ray vision but when you point your gun in the general direction of an enemy you get a ui that tells you exactly where he is and how much health he has left. Personally I feel that's may as well be the same thing.
Ben Neumann that's been the way in every mass effect. Maybe its a little more in your face since its right over their head vs top of the screen. Btw I found X-ray mode. When there's 3 guys left in a multiplayer wave they highlight them so you can get rid of them quickly and get to the next round

I can't believe they actually added the scan planets thing they done after ME1. I admit that the planet exploration got a bit boring in the first one but at least you had freedom! instead of making the exploration better they just abandoned the landing on planets and deploying the Mako and replaaced it with one of my biggest grievances about the ME2/3, I fucking hated scanning planets and they kept that same shitty mechanic in this one.......I'm OUT!
Marmite Hawk - Fair enough, if you want to just quickly scan planets and pick up resources there should be an option for that, like auto-rectify battles in Total War games. I want to actually go down to the planet, find the objective and do something to claim the reward. The fact they just abandoned the planet exloration annoyed me, even though I get the argument that a lot of people complained and it was changed.
It could be done better Imo.
Andy - Yeah it was just a big letdown for me. I was going into systems and not interacting with anything in any real way. There could have been a compromise, e.g - Scan the planet, find a resource, beacon etc - land, explore a little, find the resource, a little combat sometimes (some native monster attacks or mercs are going for the same beacon), defeat them, drive back to ship, take off.....say, 15/20 mins per planet or an option to just resolve if you're like the other guy ^^^
The exploration from 1 done better woulda been wonderful.
The vistas from ME1 were fuckin incredible, the freedom was great, but it was under developed and would get repetitive quick, even the bases where you had some mission had the same layout. You just needed to improve upon it, make it diverse and with several points of interest, and why not, tweak the makos driving.
Otherwise, removing it for shitty scanning didn't do anything good for the game.

Kevin Wilson You know what they kept the annoying scan planets mechanic and got rid of squad mate customization, and the paragon system. The lead character you play with also is boring and the squad mates couldn't be more cliche. They could have just reskinned ME3 in a new universe and taken my money.

You should definitely try to first 1-2 games in the series for comparison if you like the general concept of this type of rpg.
Pretty much everything you criticized in this video isn't an issue in the first 2 games.
I haven't played the 3rd so I can't comment in it.
Playing the first 1-2 games won't make Andromeda any better but it will help you understand why people fell in love with the series back when real effort was put into it and EA had minimal or non-existant influence.

Inquisition was better than DA2, DA2 was really horrible. DAI was too easy and they failed to create fluid game, they even said "don't do everything from first area or you will be overleveled" or something. But everyone wants to complete (ofc)the area 100%

That's a fair point Dunestorm. I don't doubt that there are some things that feel like a Mass Effect game. However, just by seeing a few things in this video, I'm already missing some of the features of the old games. I'll probably end up getting it but when it goes on sale. I know bashing the animations also seems cheap, but they just look really cartoony. From what I've seen so far, it's just not convincing me... Also, I've been following Mack for the last 4 years and he has been pretty much spot on for a lot of the games he reviews. Just my opinion ;)

What is good about the ME games? I tried all 3. Could not even finish one of them due to incredibly boring story, tedious and clunky gameplay.
The first one when it came was unplayable due to melting the 360's hardware. So when I tried it on PC many years later it was smooth, but still boring and clunky as fuck.

Well, I do like a good story and are not unpatient. I love Bioware's Knight of the old republic (only the first game). Loved the atmosphere there, the dialogue and the choices to be good / evil.
Guess ME just isn't for me. Didn't find any of it interesting.
One correction Mack. The trial is the final release version. Bioware confirmed that they were able to include the Day One Patch. So this is what will be played next week.

Joker socom 1-3 is how you do a third person shooting.
Personally I'd say Warframe is the prime example of how to do a third person shooting game - while most of it would work just as well in first person, the melee combat system of that game just simply wouldn't work in first person as its more akin to Dynasty Warriors or Devil May Cry as opposed to Condemned or Zeno Clash thus you really need that field of view to know how wide and far your attacks will swing to make sure they connect with the enemies around you.
Mass Effect Andromeda wasn't made by the team that did ME 1, 2 & 3.
It was (sadly) developed by the Bioware B-Team, their first attempt at a AAA game too.
The voice acting and script in the trilogy is interesting and well performed.

dead_zombies Horizon Zero Dawn is more liberal and it's currently the most successful game out.
cagnazzo people have no taste especially ps4 players, they will lap onto whatever game comes out in order to validate their consoles purchase, zero dawn laso has gameplay issues, roll alll the time and just bow and arrows for the next 20 hours or so. open world but you cant go certain parts till you keep on goin with story, story is just an afterthought. facial animations are also laughable especially for npc. zero dawn wouldve made a great monster hunter game had they gona that route.

I didn't wanna agree with you because of reasons but I played this game for 10 hours, and a massive ME fan and was so hyped for this game. This piece of shit of a game should not be called Mass Effect. It's an insult to the fans, insult to the franchise and insult to all of those people who payed 50 quid for this. I refunded my PreOrder as soon as I finished the 10 hour trial. Shame I can't get back the 4.99 I payed for the "origin access" shit

Well Mass Effect as a franchise was good until the third game so this is not new or unexpected.. Btw is anyone bothered by how young the characters look? Like in some teen series like One Three Hill or Teen Wolf.

blablabla90909 Well it was solid in the gameplay and graphics departments. What really mattered to a Mass Effect game like writing, character development and story was bad. The only good parts of the game were the ones which involved something built upon from the previous games. The first two were story-driven while the third was Gears of War driven.. I personally consider it a failure. And btw I don't hate GoW, they are just different types of games and liked for different reasons.
After hearing all the negative stuff about the ending, I finally made it to the end about a year ago. Granted, I had the expanded ending dlc but overall I thought it was pretty good.
What was the big issue people had with it and what exactly were people expecting?

About crouching - that's an interesting way of addressing (badly) a control issue from the original Mass Effect games, in which crouch was mapped to your left analog stick push-in function, so in the midst of a firefight you'd end up crouching by accident and crawling along instead of running for your life.

The N64 version was ass and the old PC version had an inferior soundtrack and insidiously bad FOV, and there is too little ammo for the weapons. The new release fixes the core design issues with the immediate gameplay while adding several graphical, audio, and convenience features. Nightdive let me appreciate a classic for the first time. I highly recommend it.

Facial Expressions and character animations are VERY BAD. Bioware promised patch.
Character Creation is a JOKE, worse then any previous Bioware game. It just doesn't look good.
Music is AVERAGE, not as deep as in previous MEs
Gameplay is not that bad, only thing I didn't get why they removed the pause stuff in previous games. In higher difficulty is the gameplay OK.
Character story - well its trial, beginning of something new. It is NOT GOOD. Ryder personality is like a child, which probably should be, but its not fun. I hope it will develop further. Companions and story is ok, but sometimes annoying, boring. With the facial failure it is boring. The story telling of a DEAD EYES is interesting like a text readed while there is a screenshot.
Questing, Research and other features looks OK.
I am not sure where 40 million dollars went for, but probably most of it was consumed by bad management and poor developers salaries.
Only reason I will not cancel the preorder is the hidden edge of the story telling. I am just curious as a ME fan, how its going to be. After I finish the game, I can say if it was or wasn't worth a buy. I am just trapped. Heartbroken fan atm.....Masochist probably :D
You can get EA/ Origin access for around $5 for a 1 month subscription, then try the trial for 10 hours, and then you get about that off with the discount you get.
Vlad Singer Most of the money was dumped into cinematic trailers and massive advertising to maximize the profits.
So I was spending last 2h of trial by re-creating main character (3x times, as You can't skip the intro), and I am finally somehow happy with it. The animations are still killing it, but hey, ok....there is nothing else to play. I must say I had fun to re-play the trial mission and I will gladly continue to play when released. Maybe it is my demission, maybe the game is not that bad.

I was never interested in this game, they were emphasising the wrong things about Mass effect in the marketing like better combat this, more combat options that........... I recently played the trilogy on my own without buying it from the hype back in the day, loved the story, especially mass effect 3, dialogue felt really professional especially how I was going for a soldier type background with Shepard so I was very friendly at heart but at the heat of certain moments choices I had to live with had to be made, renegade choices...... those moments always felt badass. MACK TRY TRILOGY, YOU WILL HATE ANDROMEDA.

Holy god the characters really are jarring. Mixing that kind of facial mocap with wooden cutscene acting is the same as sticking ham slices on the faces of thunderbird puppets.

Mass effect 1 is an actual RPG. 2 and 3 are call of duty in space. Andromeda looks like a fucking abortion. Only thing I truly liked about the mass effect series were the awesome characters. Now instead of a group of total badasses you have a bunch of tiny bopping hipsters, the art team for Andromeda should be castrated.
What I wouldn't give to see Mack driving around in that rover from the first Mass Effect ...the bell would be broken.

Mass Effect 2 was the best game I ever played, twice. No other game ever got me so attached to my companions and wanted to genuinely explore all of their story and dialog options.
has anyone else noticed how weak and half arsed the male protagonist is compared to male Shepard in the first 3 games? i cant take the guy seriously or any of the other characters for that matter.
i played the first 3 to completion years back and i remember the voice actor Mark Meer did great job doing the dialog where there was a lot more passion behind the words not to mention a much better writing over all.
Almost every character had a unique personality and they were more believable.
dont get me wrong it wasnt the best story writing/ dialog/animations etc, but i could tell a lot of heart went in to those games.
Yea, Ryder's personality is not very interesting at the moment. I still have hopes that it will somehow evolve later in the game...but if not...man...sad
