I made this short video to give the upfront differences in these two Classic Volkswagen Icons. Yes we could go into a DEEP dive, but that would be a 2 hour film. Anything missing from this short film that you want to add, please leave it in the comments section below. I also did a podcast on this 2 years ago you can see here ua-cam.com/video/N0h2zq4hz7M/v-deo.htmlsi=gc2p2CZI4sB6_BA9 Please Subscribe to my Channel Here! my first car in 1968 was a 1963 Karmann Ghia. a very fun car to drive. after it got wrecked its engine went into a 1960 Beetle. I always enjoyed driving VWs. I was a VW mechanic for 20 years.
I once had a girlfriend that when we first met told me she had a Ghia-- I was excited, thinking she meant a Karman Ghia. I was 19, had always wanted to drive one. Much to my dismay, however... it was a MUSTANG Ghia. Kelli was a sweet girl, but when she moved to Texas I wasn't sad to see that car go. Her, I missed.
My 1st car and 1st vw is a 1966 karmann ghia(still with me) ,when i brought it it has a 1600 dualport motor, and now i still own several bugs, both the ghia and bugs have camber compensator, hd swaybars, hopped up motor, but they drive different from what i feel 😊
I owned a electronic-stick-shift Karmann Ghia and would take it to a nearby unfinished development and practice my drifting. I thought it handled so well I never felt in danger. It was also popular on my College campus. I'd like to get one and convert it to electric with a small gas-powered range extender.
"Volkswagen's ability to create a vehicle that is aesthetically pleasing" or Volkswagen's ability to commission an Italian design house to create it for them
Interesting video, but how are parts for the Karmann Ghia hard to come by? Never had any problem, and the VW dealer even had the thermostat in their warehouse!
Yes, I remember the episode where they had a Beetle follow them around as potential punishment if their own car failed. But, they also admitted it was the only car that made the whole journey without breaking down or needing any modifications. It was hilarious.

I had a 64 karmann GIha for my first car in 1975.
2:50 Never forget you Vince
I had to put him in, I miss that guy so much.
I have owned several VW Beetles but I have never really had the urge to get a Karmann Ghia. Just personal preference, I guess.

Wau excellent job
Was this made with AI? Sits in the uncanny valley
Yeah this feels... Weird...
Ok😮
I'm with Richard Hammond on this one. He once said the Beetle is the worst car ever made.
What are you doing on this channel then?

Have you been in and drove either? They both drive about the same, underpowered and the suspension sucks.
I restore the beetle and also repair the ghia, yes I have been in them.
