  • What do you get when you mix Italian style with German reliability? The Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia! The first series of cars, built between 1955 and 1959, is the most collectible due to the purity of the design. Enthusiasts lovingly call them 'Lowlights', since their headlights are placed lower than on later models. Our perfect pair of a 1956 coupé and a 1958 convertible offers classic motoring for all seasons and will take pride of place in any serious Volkswagen collection.

Coupe all the way! The convertibles lose the gorgeous curves when the roof is cut off. In my opinion. I had a 59 Ghia (not a lowlight) as a parts car once. It was a rust bucket. Same colour as the 59 in your video. In currently using many of its parts to restore a 61. Great video thanks for sharing 👍

Thanks for watching and commenting! Always great when our videos bring back memories. Looking forward to seeing your '61 when it's ready! You could argue, that convertibles always loose a bit of the original design, yet they're both gorgeous cars!

Haha, it’s a hard job but someone has got to do it. Seriously, it’s an absolute pleasure and honour to work with cars of this quality and provenance. Thanks for watching!

According to babvvo and tebbvo laws, sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas
station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be
banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine
and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027
on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any
longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. so beware of expensive cars today they will be forbidden and worthless tomorrow!!

None of what you said makes these cars “worthless”, even as a museum piece

Let's see what will actually happen. Yes, the EU plans a ban on the sale of new passenger cars with ICE from 2035, but synthetic fuels may change this. In addition, many other things can happen. I am confident, that we will be able to enjoy our beloved classic cars for many years to come and not worried, that they will be forbidden.
