Should of mentioned current relays are gravity sensitive devices. If they are mounted upside down, the start capacitor will stay in the circuit and eventually fail (leaving an oily mess)
Thank you Robert! Really appreciate your comments & support 🙏 Def takes a lot of time & work to put these videos together. Stay tuned for new videos every week! 🔧⚡️
Very nice tutorial. I keeping all technical information and troubleshooting in your video thanks a lots sir 🙏 for all your sharing about HVAC technician. God bless you sir 🙏
Just found your channel and I must say I'm enjoying your videos because your a good instructor which makes learning so much more fun 😉 I have a degree in electrical so it's refreshing to see someone give a more detail explanation of how things work. I'm also digging your use of schematics which other UA-cam Channels tend leave out 😊 Keep up the good work!
Took forever but I finally narrowed down the problem with my Delta 31-695 disc/belt sander. Also took forever to find a suitable relay. Aaaaaaand ALSO took forever to figure out how to wire the aftermarket relay........until I found this. I was a nuclear electrician in the Navy so I had a pretty good understanding of how these work even though I've never encountered one before. This video was EXCELLENT! You explained the theory of operation PERFECTLY. Thank you.
I'm your fan but I've noticed it'll take forever for an apprentice to understand your drawing explanation....I think the best way was to start when power enters compressor windings through common terminal then try and explain the start winding terminals and run terminal differences
Very simple but thorough explanation as to how this simple circuit works. I'm working on a fractional horsepower refrigerator. The unit was tripping circuit breakers. I then found that the thermostat's contacts were burned open. Replacing the thermostat I found a tripped CB again. I measured the total motor current, way out of range, I shut the unit down although the motor ran. After a while it overheated and tripped the thermo fuse, which eventually stayed open permanently. I suspected the current relay's contacts welded closed, keeping the start coil energized, not being disconnected. I haven't had time to get back to the job. I noticed another tech made up a short cable with a normally open push button switch, which he would connect up to the start coil. He would hold the button down (closed) and power up the unit. As soon as the motor took off he would release the button. I thought that was a pretty good diagnostic tool to have. I've noticed that not all fractional HP compressors do not have start capacitors, that right? If so, I suspect the start coil is would at least 90 degrees out of phase from the run winding, true? Nice channel appreciate it - Jim
Bonjour, la valeur du condensateur est de 88 microfarad 250v. Peut-on remplacer un condensateur de même valeur 330v? Sans le compresseur danfost ne subisse aucun dommage ? Aidez-moi svp
Run capacitors and start capacitors can be used. This was just one example of a wiring diagram using this relay. Thanks for watching & Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
Thanks, JMT. I’m a casual observer; I’m not involved in hvac servicing. ?: can you explain when the start cap gets charged in your explanation with the schematic? Btw, the schematic plus visuals of the actual components are fantastic 👏🏼👍🏼
Jumper man Tech is by far the most instructional channel on YT. Just start calling him "Professor".
Haha thank you! That was a good one. Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️

The best explanation of a current relay I’ve seen. Thanks Jumperman Tech!

What about relay using PTC inside?
So current relays can’t be used with run capacitor compressors?
Run capacitors and start capacitors can be used. This was just one example of a wiring diagram using this relay. Thanks for watching & Stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️
