    The thing is Amy, the childish haunting in your voice, the tired piano playing, the build to an almost heartbreaking cry in the song is exactly what makes it so great!

      She dislikes the sound of the demo and that she sounds like a kid on it. She does sound like a kid on it, she was a teen. She has the right to dislike that the label (yet again, as with Bring Me To Life) forced her to do something she didn't want by using an old demo version of the song instead of the re-recording she did.

But they did re record it for the video with the rock part, so she sounds more mature. And that is the radio version almost anyone (that didn't buy the album) recognize. So she is kinda wrong.

    I think she hates on My immortal because Ben Moody wrote it and it was their biggest hit at the time until Bring me to life.
    Ben Moody would pretty much not let her have anything to do with the production of Fallen. His view was she was there to sing and that was it.
    There are videos on UA-cam "The making of Fallen" if you watch them you can see all Amy did was sing and make video tapes.
    I saw Evanescence in Montreal just before the pandemic hit and they only played a couple songs off Fallen My Immortal was not one of them.
    I get it that she hates Ben Moody and doesn't want anything to do with what he produced but these songs are Amy's now and no one outside of Ev fans even knows who Ben Moody is so she should embrace Fallen and claim it as her own.

    • @osamus1796
      @osamus1796 3 роки тому +9

      Actually Amy wrote all the lyrics and melodies for the Fallen Album except for the songs My Immortal and Tourniquet. Tourniquet was originally written by Rocky Grey except for the second verse which was added by Amy. It's not true that Amy did nothing but sing. The making of fallen videos were recorded long after she had written all the lyrics. BTW David Fortman produced Fallen and not Ben Moody. Guess you're a bit misinformed in regards to the band's history.

    • @osamus1796
      @osamus1796 3 роки тому +2

      In addition, during the regular tours they usually perform Going Under, My Immortal, Imaginary, Bring Me To Life, and even Whisper. Do you expect them to perform the entirety of Fallen when they're promoting a new album? 4 songs from each album is a lot. You have to realize Fallen is old by now and Amy has grown up a lot since those lyrics were written. It's normal for a musician to relate more to their recent efforts.

    • @T.N.S.A.F.
      @T.N.S.A.F. 3 роки тому +4

      @@osamus1796 Sorry,.. I'm afraid you're misinformed or in denial.
      Tourniquet was a song from Rocky's old band (Soul Embraced). My Immortal was about Moody's grandfather. There's two songs down.
      Most of the other songs were written by Moody while he was still in High School they were reworked and rewritten over several years by Lee,Moody and Hodges but the original songs were penned my Moody.
      Amy's only contributions was the bridge to My Immortal and lyrics to rewritten and reworked songs. She had very little to do with the music portion as Moody not only plays rhythm and lead guitar he also plays piano. Being the bipolar control freak he admitted to being, who do you think wanted control over the lyrics and music on the album? Finally you only have to listen to the differences between Fallen and The Open Door to know they are two different styles written by two different people then Listen to Moody's album " We are the Fallen" and THAT is more in line with the Fallen album.
      I'm an Evanescence fan and I don't have much use for Moody but I do not deny he had talent.
      One last thing, in old interviews available here on You Tube Amy is quoted saying she wrote Bring Me to life when she was in a depressed mood and an acquaintance told her (not Josh Hartzler) that he could see right through her eyes down to her core.
      Now 2021 she is saying in interviews she wrote it about Josh. Which is it?
      When Bring me to life was written Amy was seeing Moody briefly then she moved on to Sean Morgan. Josh Hartzler was only a fling she had in school then rekindled it after breaking up with Morgan. Very unlikely Moody would have wanted that song on the album if he thought it was a love song about Hartzler, ESPECIALLY when he had feelings for her himself at the time.
      P.S. I am no no way misinformed about Evanescence.

    My Immortal becomes a totally different song, if you picture it being about her sister that passed away. It actually really makes sense if you think about it. It's probably not, because Hello was written about that, but I like to think Amy is deeper than writing a song about a breakup, you know?

    • @detectivekornfed
      @detectivekornfed 3 роки тому +9

      "My Immortal" is based on Ben Moody's writings on his grandfather's death. Ben is the original, and former, guitarist of Evanescence. "Hello" and "Like You", were written by Amy about the death of her younger sister, Bonnie. I think Bonnie was 3 YO when she died, and at that time Amy was 6 YO. ☹

      @@detectivekornfed Thats the truth! It was Bens song! Thats why is different from the others.. it took years to Amy accept it but now is classic for them. Still one of my fav songs. Wishing Ben didt leave. He didnt clain anything at all..

    • @carpediemearth
      @carpediemearth 2 роки тому

      My Immortal is not about Amy's sister's death, and Amy didn't write the words (except the bridge), Ben wrote the words from fiction, from a short story. He and Amy co-wrote it musically and Amy did the main melody originally.
      Amy wrote most of Fallen from being in an abusive relationship; a lot of the songs stem from her feelings and experiences with that and the damage it did. Some exceptions are Hello, which she wrote about the death of her little sister when she was six.

      Angela yeah i agree with u. i fell in love with the band because of her voice and the album with the music, like her voice casted a spell on me. plus she was very young at the time and at least trying to make a good start to the band. the origin album i don’t know too much about but the songs on their i knew were going on other albums. i also do not know much about the lost whispers album. i know it was in 2016 but some of the songs were taken from other albums and like the synthesis wish classical rock trying to get back to their band again. i think in all honesty, the bitter truth album will be a hit to us fans! i don’t even think it’ll go viral because nobody listens to evanescence anymore, but true supporters and true fans will take the effort and make it go viral again :) i know this has nothing to do with what u commented, but i just don’t like how people quit following because they thought the band wasn’t together anymrie or they just wish amy was young again. but even though she’s older now and has a kid, i look up to her and see that she is still the same person that was in the music videos of “my immortal” and she actually did all this. age just doesn’t mater to me, her voice is phenomenally a goddess❤️ her voice literally casted a spell on me to listen tot heir music and i really hope i get to meet her one day! also all my respect goes towards the band too. if there wasn’t an amazing band that gave up on her, there wouldn’t be an evanescence today. but throughout all the breaks and the members leaving and gaining new members to join, i’m SUPER thankful that more and more people are interested in joining evanescence. despite the coronavirus, i really hope they can be doing more live-streams as concerts. i don’t have any social media besides youtube and tik tok, but i really hope they’ll do a youtube live stream. idk if most of their followers are on youtube or what but i wanna meet all them ❤️
