in 2022 they also removed the snow, mud & sand, rock & dirt buttons
It seems like instead of adding more features and make it nicer as supposed to be refreshing it every year They’re actually taking away all the good stuff such as 2019 LE used to come with alloy wheels and now it only comes with hub caps and 2021 XLE comes with fog lights and now it doesn’t!!!! What else are they going to take away for 2023 model…… the touch screen? And make it come with an old cassette player radio thing 📻

Jeff, thanks for your videos. I would prefer the 2021 because of the fog lights. In my area, they come in handy. Also 2022 I believe dropped some buttons on the awd. Also, did the 2022 have phone charger by the back seat air vent? 2021 has that. I do like the illuminated buttons on 2022 but not enough to give up other advantages of 2021. I would also like to know if engine/transmission specs are the same for both years. I understand they are.. I also read Rav4 may have fuel pump issues. Is that true for both years? Or was it addressed.
Toyota should have kept the fog lights on front of 2022 RAV 4 XLE. You add features on to the new models not eliminate them. Needless to say, this causes safety hazards. That SUV are too big to have only 2 headlights on it.
It's kind of a shame they dropped the fog lights... not only is that a useful/safety related factor, I think the front looks better with the fog lights. I do love the new illuminated switches and buttons inside. That's a huge help at night (especially if you have the black interior).

Is Toyota updating RAV4 Xle? They dropped RAV4 xle 2020 standard sunroof and power back door. And 2022 year they dropped fog lights. Why they dropping standard equipment to package? RAV4 2019-2022 have tss 2.0. I would like to see RAV4 2022 have tss 2.5 or 2.5+. But bigger brother Highlander is updating faster than RAV4. Highlander 2019 have TSS-P , Highlander 2020 have TSS 2.0, Highlander 2021 have TSS 2.5+. I don't understand Toyota. Why some Toyota vehicles skip TSS 2.0?
They probably added a strong LEd. Alot of manufactures dont need fog lights anymore because the strength of LED lights are so strong. They do look cool to have for sure.
XLE premium has fog lights.
@@shaynewaite5329 True, but the one being discussed/reviewed in this video is the XLE, not the Premium. While the Premium would be my preference for a lot of reasons, it's a bummer that they're being dropped from the XLE requiring you to move up to the next level rather than at least offering them as part of an optional package.
No fog lights on a XLE trim, That’s absurd.
I expected to have fog lights and an auto dimmer rearview mirror. Toyota took a step back in that part of their safety feature. I will have aftermarket fog lights and auto-dimmed mirror put in later.
Then don’t buy it 😂
My 2022 Rav4 XLE Premium has fog lights.
Yellowing “fog lights” have never helped me see in the fog. I think it’s overrated. Top things to look for as a smart consumer:
1. Resale value (does it hold over time)
2. Engine (piston valves, manifold, etc [is it a good engine-and easy to tackle])
3. Transmission (is it solid? Or does it have a history of failing after a few years/miles)
4. Electrical (history of failure?)
5. Safety features come standard what what are they?
6. 4, 6 or 8 cylinders? (Gas price and how much you’ll pay- is it cost effective)
7. Interior (does it meet your practicality-leather if you want it, personally me black non-leather for me )
8. Then I finally care of the bells and whistles…(tires, rims, decal, LED lights integrated, FOG LIGHTS, etc >))

thanks for the review. I put a deposit down on a 2022 Hybrid Limited this week. I had to pay full MSRP but no additional markup. Hopefully I'll have it in mid march.
They cheaped out by dropping the fog lights. We use ours all the time, and they make night driving so much better.
Jeff love your videos and coverage of the RAV4, I have a 2020 RAV4 Hybrid Limited so it's pretty cool seeing some of the iterative improvements. The new headlamps for the 2022 look awesome as well as the illuminated buttons, a little jealous

Hi Jeff. A great presentation as always. Your passion for the products shines through. I have mixed feeling on the ‘22. I do like the new wheel color, and the lit lamps in the various controls. I’m a tad disappointed in removing the fog lights. One would think that would be included in the convenience package. What didn’t Toyota go with its “Safety Sense 2.5?” It seems to me that Toyota would offer its latest and greatest safety devices in all makes for the brand.

Can't imagine an LE will be coming off the assembly line for at least 6 months if not a year or more. With the shortage of *insert whatever you want here* they're only producing mid/top trims.
@@MichaelHumbles Our '22 LE is being delivered the first week of March! We placed the order just before xmas.
The new camera is great, especially panning is much smoother. Love the new headlights but disappointed about the fog lights. Can they be added in a package? The illuminated but are great. One thing is still missing, an integrated hitch as in the 4Runner. Bikers like me wanted that for a bike rack.

I think the 2022 changes are great. I've always wondered why certain buttons and switches weren't illuminated. I'm glad Toyota is making small improvements. The XLE Premium is pretty nice. I think the XLE Premium is the sweet spot.

XLE Premium is the trim I’d choose also. LED fog lights, power lift gate, soft tex seating surfaces, 19-inch wheels, etc.

Interior lights on switches comes great because I can’t see anything during nighttime. Great update!!! And those LED headlamps are insane!!!🔥🔥🔥 Congrats 2022 buyers, because I can’t buy another one this year🤣🤣🤣
I do like the color of the new wheels other than that I’m very happy with my 2021 in lunar rock I’m going to get the wheels changed out anyway, but I do agree the new ones look better the ones on the 2021 kind of look cheap. I’m glad I’ve got the fog lights …. headlights really no difference to me but would’ve been nice to have the illuminated buttons inside. After you drive a car a while you don’t need to look at the buttons to know what you’re pushing anyway so it’s all good.

I like the changes for 2022 with the exception of the fog lights. I would want LED Fog Lights. Illuminated buttons are a big plus.
I recently purchased the 2022 XLE, disappointed the fog lights and auto dimmer rearview mirror were not part of the package. The next trim would be the Premium, since I'm not a fan of leather, I opted for the XLE. I can always have the fog lights and auto dimmer mirror installed later.

@@angelrey646 35k. I got a steal. I paid MSRP. I can’t believe I am saying MSRP was a steal, but in this market it truly is. Dealerships are trying to sell for at least 5k over MSRP and don’t want to negotiate at all because the demand is so high.
@@Rustyshackelford23 Crazy times! I'm gonna check out Rav4 22 XLE with Convenience, Weather, Liner package they're asking for 34,599.00 MSRP out the door it will probably be another 2k. . .

Do the overhead control buttons light up? Which trim receives fog lights and or is it an option? It would be nice if there was a update list between 2019 through 2022. A nice listing without the fluff to help people decide if upgrading to a newer model would be worth it for the owner.

I had a 2013 chevy impala LT. And the door switches, and audio controls on the steering wheel were all illuminated. Illuminated switches should have been standard for the rav4 when it was redesigned back in 2019.

All the buttons you show is on the 21 not lit up, light up except the lock/unlock and passenger window switches. All that is lit on my 2020 XLE premium AWD. For 22 they just added the door panel ones lit.
On wheels, it reminds me of the last generation 2015 XLE models. Toyota changed the alloy wheel color from a ordinary machined silver to a hyper silver but kept the same wheel design instead of a newer design.

I’m currently waiting on my Toyota RAV4 XLE to come in. I don’t care about it not having any fog lights on them. I currently have a 2010 Ford Escape with fog lights and I’ve hardly ever used them.
Good change for 2022 will be nice to have the fog lights as standard on all of them, Toyota do a good job with the cars they stay at head of the game, I love Toyota !!!!!!!
No fog lights no good. On my 2021 I put Leds on my fog lights and interior and it make a huge difference. The only nice thing on the 2022 are the iluminated controls. The color on the rims and the key on the glove box are not significant for me. The headlights look ok but removing the fog lights is a real killer.

How can you order one without platinum package and paint protection. They can get it before it’s applied but dealers are making so much profit they don’t care.

My 2021 RAV4 XLE AWD has illuminated buttons on the inside. Why doesn’t the one you’re using for comparison? Mine has a moon/sunroof, but that was an option.
I would prefer the fog lights on 2021. I would prefer the illuminated buttons on 2022. Wheels do not matter to me. The fog lights would be enough for me to pass on 2022 and go with 2021.

Like the 2022 headlights but don’t like the lack of fog light. Also I’m so surprised Toyota didn’t have illuminated switches. My basic 2008 Hyundai has illuminated switches! Never realized that so now I’m glad I’ll be getting a 2022 and it’s taking so long. I have the hybrid Limited on order.

No the moon roof is not standard. I ordered one last week and it'll be here in 3 week's. I wanted the auto lift gate but you can't get that without the moon roof and vice versa. So I passed on the lift gate

No lift gate, no moonroof, no fog lights for the 2022 XLE model year whereas the 2021 came standard with them. Is the only difference between XLE package vs the LE package the pushbutton start? seems like a 3k price bump from the LE should include more.

They also got rid of 3 drive modes in the 2022? Very disappointed how much they cheaper out. We ordered a 2022 from the local dealer based off the 2021. We were told nothing was changing.

That's odd, my 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Xse has illuminated switches. I would've thought the 2021 and previous years of the Rav4 would have it as well.

I have a RAV4 2020 xle and I have all those illuminated switches including on steering . I guess they come on automatically during night on my RAV4 . For this new model they might have always on lights
