Everything you said is 100 percent true. I can’t even begin to describe how frustrated I am at this moment with the game. I preordered payday 3 on ps5 to play since I’m currently on deployment, I have a home PC that’s not brought with me on trips. I literally cannot play the game that I spent 90 dollars on, no audio for cutscenes, no cosmetic dlc that I was supposed to get with the gold edition, broken matchmaking. I have to agree. As much as I do think the game even with all its gameplay and content shortcomings. I am hopeful for this game. however, if the servers remain, and we don't get an offline mode, then I fear that this game will be abandoned, and it will end up like so many live service titles do. abandoned within a year, and a studio shut down. I want to play this game, I want to be apart of the community, to help build up the speedrunning community, yet we cant play, and its all down to a dumb decision that was probably made by the ceo who sees offline as a maybe now instead of the obvious solution
Thank you so much for addressing the situation this way. I love this game and luckily just completed the no rest for the wicked heist today, it’s so fun and so challenging, but the amount of times I’ve gotten the matchmaking error screen is getting so irritating. I was so hype but now my faith begins to falter, as starbreeze dangles an offline mode over our heads like a carrot on a string, this needs to change.
And this is also disregarding the fact that the fanbase helped Overkill keep the lights on after Overkill's The Walking Dead flopped, by buying the newer DLC for Payday 2 (Border Crossing and onwards). The fans were what made Payday 3, and you can tell the devs really appriciated the support that they gave it their all with this new installment. And it really does hurt to see that they didn't even listen months ago about an offline mode, it should've been a given at that point. Here's hoping that we do get an update soon for an offline mode because this will relieve stress off of the devs when they finally find the issue that causing it, but also improve their servers, maybe a few small quality of life changes with matchmaking in general. Because if they don't, instead of OTWD being their final game, it'll be Payday 3. And that would really hurt, not just the fans, but also the devs who spent years learning server different game engines and spending years learning Unreal Engine 4 & 5, just for their hard work that was leading up to this moment, will be for nothing.
Me and my close friends (and hubby) been planning to take 3 day off when this game launch only me and hubby bought the pre order (yeah it was fun) we tho the match making error was only in beta, man we were so wrong when the game actually launched and we all get together and play, we just ended up starring at the menu and error screen for 8 hour straight We love payday, we been supporting it since 2013 and to think this is what it became, we all agreed payday 3 just lost 4 of their loyal fan
I love all of your points and think that some people saying “it only has 8 heists” like payday 2 only had like 10 at launch and people cant seem to get that it will get better
It's not about fans being toxic (some certainly are pointing their fingers in the wrong direction) but they're passionate. Having dropped about 20 hrs into the game, I love PD3 so much that I refuse to revert back to 2. I just want to play the game and play with my friends.
I'm gonna be honest, I think most of the problems stem from Deep Silver and Plaion. Of course we won't know for sure until SBZ buys back the rights to PD3 in a year or so, but mark my words. These two horrid companies got their hands in the pie.
BE HONEST guys...would it be different if the always online is still present BUT matchmaking is normal and have no problems would the community react the same? Would they still ask for offline? Am serious here. Are there examples of always online game still being successful?
Tis the perfect summary of the situation, you can feel how this is a love project that had it's hype EXCECUTED because of its launch, ofc it'll recover in a day or two but the train has been de-railed and it's just sad. That perfectly sums up the entire situation, just sad. I haven't played it and yet i can already feel how much better it already is than Payday 2, my gut feeling has never been wrong, ever, i have a good eye for quality stuff or lack their off and this feels way better than Payday 2, even L4D2 for me. The reviews will stay after everything has been fixed, so will the mixed feelings about the first impressions, it's just sad when the solution was so simple even. I don't trust any company to do what's right but i had faith that they were knowledgeable enough to understand that no offline is a death sentence, have you not seen Back 4 Blood? This and many other games are failures on so many different aspects....it's actually impressive tbh, but Payday 3 from what i've seen only has upsides...except this 1 thing, god damnit...ruined, the damage has been done, who knows *_when_* offline will come to the game even
Im sure the devs put a lot into it, but even without the matchmaking problems, i still dont think the game is worth it. Xp being tied to challenges, leveling up your gun to get attachments, small number of heists, few playable characters. There are some improvements, but you still have to give me a reason to play this game over the vastly supervisor second game.
same still playing PD2 I bought the 100 euro version because I trusted these guys ... 16 hours ingame maybe 12 played and 4 connection errors even when trying to play solo. not to mention getting disconnected at the end of the game even when playing solo. and as salt in the wound the cloakers saying "why don't you go completely offline?" i wish that I could cloaker ,, oh lord i wish that i could.
Great video, Apparently Starbreeze and the CEO adressed the issue, they said that they are fixing the matchmaking error, but idk if they are going to add an offline mode. Sad
The mistake that people make is assuming that this is the same Starbreeze that made Payday 2. After the collapse, not that many of the people who worked on Payday 2 are still there.
It rathe funny but another part of the problem is pre order, but for Payday 3 it was how those with early access played before the severs collapsed under the weight of people wanting to heart. Even on launch day the severs were holding for a bit… till major populations started to login. The people with early access and preorders were given a more stable and functioning service. Only helping creat a false narrative that they were hucking and shilling a bad product.
The reason why this happened is because the suits who make the budget decisions were so out of touch with the community. They did not anticipate this many people would play solo, and since each solo player takes up one full game lobby that’s why the servers can’t handle it. More people are playing invite only then they expected, but they would have known this if they LISTENED TO THE COMMUNITY! People were asking for an offline mode before the game even released, we feared this would happen and were vocal about it, yet it happened anyways because clearly the folks in charge are THAT out of touch. Sad to see that yet again, for the perhaps millionth time in the gaming scene; a company misstepped because they ignored warnings from their consumers. When will these greedy higher ups learn? They stand to lose millions because of their penny pinching, and because of that the future content will likely increase in price to compensate. It’s so insanely tragic.that such a beautiful game is getting soiled by shitty budgeting
If you buy a game that requires you to connect to the internet at all times and sign up to a third party website in order to play the game, you don't actually own the game. You're just leasing times with it until it goes offline sometime in the future. Food for thought.
While i agree with you I feel like alot of the fingers are being pointed at the wrong people it is deep silver who has forced this upon payday 3 as they did with so many of their newer releases such as dead island 2 it is greedy publishers not the devs that get to make these calls.
I agree 100%, I love the gameplay so much, it’s everything I hoped it would be, and just like you I’ve never been more hyped for a game release in my life. It’s so sad that such beautiful gameplay is being soiled by greedy corporate cunts, you think these “businessmen” would learn, but no.
It was a mess, give them some time to fix everything. The servers are slowly BUT SURELY being fixed They are multi tasking on literally everything, the servers, (possibly) offline mode, new heists, packs, DLC'S etc
It especially sucks because I spent 90 bucks on the game(I'm on ps5) so I didn't even get to play for the 3 days early but then I cant even play during launch, I'm not mad I'm just disappointed even so I still won't refund the game because I still believe.
People like that are the root of the problem. You gave company money and didn't even play the game, so you actually didn't even cost them anything, because you didn't utilise their servers. And because you didn't refund, they will repeat their bad practices again, as you won't run away with your money. Vote with your wallet.
The lack of no proper "Offline Mode" is why I stopped playing day one and will unlikely play again until it's added, at least I won't play the same way as I played PayDay 2 which at one point was the only game I would play all day for weeks.
coming from someone who wants this game to improve and sees the potential, i cant boot lick anymore. they need to fix the servers and add an offline mode. or hell add lan support because this shit is sad, depressingly sad
Not only does the future to the game look rather grim, but also the entire studio and everyone working over there. Payday 3 will heal. It's such an awesome game and I truly believe things will change. But that's only because I think these people can do good decisions. Now it's their time to prove it.
PADAY 3 run on AccelByte server. PAYDAY 3 don't have their own infrastructures and depend on a sevice that can't handle as much player Community manager said to us the tech team work on it but the tech team just wait that AccelByte fix their server PAYDAY 3 need to hire new network/admin system and work on their own infrastructures instead of told us they working on nothing to fix the issue
This guy is about to go through a joker arc that's going to be as dark as Tyler McVicker towards valve if they don't do something about this, and they probably won't because it's not the passionate developers who made that decision to not include offline (at least they and others have a say in the matter, so it's still possible they will)
They could have mitigated these issues by having an open beta where they could have assessed the actual load the servers would be under. Obviously it's not the same as a full game release, where you tend to get most of the incoming traffic, but still - it doesn't help that a lot of players had to deal with server issues. Speaking from personal experience, these things are difficult. Starbreeze isn't a studio that has as much power behind it as others. I think it's more the fault of the third party studio doing the matchmaking.
I'm a Payday 2 veteran(over 1400 hours played since 2013), and i was genuinely interested in buying and playing PD3, since it's not a full-price release and i had fun in the game's beta. But i can't bring myself to spend my money on the game with all of those server issues. And damn, i knew that this "always online" stuff would not be great for the game. I really hope that the decision to make Payday 3 like this came from the publisher and not Starbreeze themselves, like i've seen some people suggest.
Honestly the game is great. we just need the servers to work. Enjoyed the betas. But for real when the servers are down I just play something else it’s not hard.
I've seen already 2 videos on the topic of PD 3 not having a propper offline mode, but imo that's not the only thing the devs need to address, as example the dependency on the central server as a whole, as funny as this may sound but P2P is much better in this regard well since if the central server is down for some reason I AT LEAST could play with my friends, it would be laggy of course but that would be possible, and that does not include the small problems like inability to cancel being ready in the main menu, or cloakers who don't see AI at all and do not react to it in the slightest and therefore B lining to the nearest player even if that means that the player is whole bank floor away, AI not shooting back when they are downed , and this just boggles my mind how the hell Starbreeze managed to screw up in the simplest things even after 3-4 beta tests and don't tell me that those were to test servers, didn't work aight?
Ngl convincing my friends to actually play this game when it launches was like pulling teeth and with these constant matchmaking errors is definitely not helping me trying to get them give this game a chance
ive never played a payday game before, the hype around pd3 still got me. but this is the reason noone should ever preorder games, this is the reason i try to not play always online games, this is the reason i hate always online games. if they took the time and money to set up servers properly they could have been a great example on how a release should be done, now its just at the top of the giant pile of shit releases and will NEVER make it up
I think Starbreeze shouldn't be involved with any publisher company that has released what would have been a good game but was tainted by the publisher's greed if it was up to Starbreeze most likely there would have been an offline mode added and this comes from someone that watched his favorite franchise get basically buried again after trying to bring it back to life. An amazing development company like Starbreeze should listen to the fans, not the publishers
"An absolute fucking shit show" 👊😎. Seriously though it sucks for content creators and not even because they cant cover the game right now and get some interest from the hype of the launch. But the overall long turn effects of the poor reputation this will give the game and future new players will be turned away from playing and watching youtubers
How is your game not stuttering for some reason my game stutters no matter what i do and i havent seen anyone talk about this whats the issue doesnt matter if i play Ultra or low settings stuttering doesnt go away ?
I love the gameplay for Payday 3, but the fact that matchmaking has been so bad and that the massively poor reviews and refunds are so constant, I worry this could kill starbreeze. From my understanding, the company has not been doing so hot as of late, and the fact that this has been so atrocious is insane. They were banking on a massive influx from gamepass, and a failed launch on this scale is only going to hurt them more. Starbreeze has to step up. If they can get it together and respond correctly they can restore a lot of the community faith, but this is heartbreaking. I just hope the game can survive this.
I feel like even if the servers work perfectly, the gameplay and ui are so bad that I'm not giving it another go for at least a year or 2. Payday 2 is a far superior game.

Me and my close friends (and hubby) been planning to take 3 day off when this game launch
only me and hubby bought the pre order (yeah it was fun) we tho the match making error was only in beta, man we were so wrong
when the game actually launched and we all get together and play, we just ended up starring at the menu and error screen for 8 hour straight
We love payday, we been supporting it since 2013 and to think this is what it became, we all agreed payday 3 just lost 4 of their loyal fan
I couldn’t have said it better.
I just want to play the game and play with my friends.
no way Buckethead simulator
And While adding the offline mode, Add the Paycheck gang.
Wow, you said everything I wanted better than I ever could.
I expected this video to be a few seconds of you saying "Dear Starbreeze, fix your servers"
And ends abruptly
Thank you for speaking for alot of us
I'm on ps5 and I haven't been able to get past the title screen. I pre ordered the normal game so it's been 5 days of this ongoing
It is weird and sad seeing lilguyg angry. I hope starbreeze listens to the community and fixes the game overkill worked so hard on.
Its not too late, they can still fix it!
I don't remember PD2 launch, but seeing you guys put this theme on background seems like it way better than PD3 launch.
day 4, give it up for day 4
I spammed matchmaking for 90 minutes and only got in 2 times for a grand total of 20 minutes worth of actually playing the fucking game
I can't even play with friend since none can invite me at all
as a swedish person...
i can confirm i ate the servers.
This and many other games are failures on so many different aspects....it's actually impressive tbh, but Payday 3 from what i've seen only has upsides...except this 1 thing, god damnit...ruined, the damage has been done, who knows *_when_* offline will come to the game even
There are more people playing Payday 2 than Payday 3 as of right now while I look at steam charts.
Im sure the devs put a lot into it, but even without the matchmaking problems, i still dont think the game is worth it. Xp being tied to challenges, leveling up your gun to get attachments, small number of heists, few playable characters. There are some improvements, but you still have to give me a reason to play this game over the vastly supervisor second game.
what if the real payday were the preorders we made along the way
same still playing PD2 I bought the 100 euro version because I trusted these guys ...
Payday 3 is fun but got a lot of issues. However at this point we might aswell expect that "always online" games will always fuck up on launch.
Great video,
Apparently Starbreeze and the CEO adressed the issue, they said that they are fixing the matchmaking error, but idk if they are going to add an offline mode. Sad
its a shame that we cant just have fun games anymore, there is always a catch.
Working servers would be enough but voice chat is a must that they have to add A.S.A.P.
I love this game man, it's been a blast... but it doesn't work, i too want this game to succeed, it has an incredible foundation...
The servers are slowly BUT SURELY being fixed
They are multi tasking on literally everything, the servers, (possibly) offline mode, new heists, packs, DLC'S etc
Whens the next presidents episode
It especially sucks because I spent 90 bucks on the game(I'm on ps5) so I didn't even get to play for the 3 days early but then I cant even play during launch, I'm not mad I'm just disappointed even so I still won't refund the game because I still believe.
People like that are the root of the problem. You gave company money and didn't even play the game, so you actually didn't even cost them anything, because you didn't utilise their servers. And because you didn't refund, they will repeat their bad practices again, as you won't run away with your money. Vote with your wallet.
A month in and still no updates. It sucks to be a payday fan rn
:(
by any chance can i get your M14 EBR setup? (like it will matter anyway)
If I can play the game enough to get to infamy 100 (or if I can even be bothered at this point) I’ll make a fully optimised build, sure! 🤟
The lack of no proper "Offline Mode" is why I stopped playing day one and will unlikely play again until it's added, at least I won't play the same way as I played PayDay 2 which at one point was the only game I would play all day for weeks.
who could've seen this coming with an online only game
yeah you really said it perfectly man
coming from someone who wants this game to improve and sees the potential, i cant boot lick anymore. they need to fix the servers and add an offline mode. or hell add lan support because this shit is sad, depressingly sad
They fixed the matchmaking errors
Not only does the future to the game look rather grim, but also the entire studio and everyone working over there. Payday 3 will heal. It's such an awesome game and I truly believe things will change. But that's only because I think these people can do good decisions. Now it's their time to prove it.
Starbreeze has proven time and time again otherwise... but let's hope THIS TIME they change.
PADAY 3 run on AccelByte server.
PAYDAY 3 don't have their own infrastructures and depend on a sevice that can't handle as much player
Community manager said to us the tech team work on it but the tech team just wait that AccelByte fix their server
PAYDAY 3 need to hire new network/admin system and work on their own infrastructures instead of told us they working on nothing to fix the issue
This guy is about to go through a joker arc that's going to be as dark as Tyler McVicker towards valve if they don't do something about this, and they probably won't because it's not the passionate developers who made that decision to not include offline (at least they and others have a say in the matter, so it's still possible they will)
Still hard to get into any match at the moment
They could have mitigated these issues by having an open beta where they could have assessed the actual load the servers would be under. Obviously it's not the same as a full game release, where you tend to get most of the incoming traffic, but still - it doesn't help that a lot of players had to deal with server issues. Speaking from personal experience, these things are difficult. Starbreeze isn't a studio that has as much power behind it as others. I think it's more the fault of the third party studio doing the matchmaking.
Shared the video on their most recent tweet, you need to be heard
I'm a Payday 2 veteran(over 1400 hours played since 2013), and i was genuinely interested in buying and playing PD3, since it's not a full-price release and i had fun in the game's beta. But i can't bring myself to spend my money on the game with all of those server issues. And damn, i knew that this "always online" stuff would not be great for the game. I really hope that the decision to make Payday 3 like this came from the publisher and not Starbreeze themselves, like i've seen some people suggest.
They don’t care…. Vote with your valet! Then, they might give a damn.
Preach brotha 🙏
Well said.
❤
Boy am i glad i did'd spend money on this game.
Ngl convincing my friends to actually play this game when it launches was like pulling teeth and with these constant matchmaking errors is definitely not helping me trying to get them give this game a chance
Respect
i really don't know why the f*** they change things that have always been in the saga and the community knew and liked for years.
ROCKSTAR Games 2.0
ive never played a payday game before, the hype around pd3 still got me.
but this is the reason noone should ever preorder games, this is the reason i try to not play always online games, this is the reason i hate always online games. if they took the time and money to set up servers properly they could have been a great example on how a release should be done, now its just at the top of the giant pile of shit releases and will NEVER make it up
Hear, hear.
First time nyc’s crime rate has been 0%
If they make it offline, they have to make the bots better. They nerfed them in to being wastes of space
Maybe check v-sync? Maybe monitor is set to lower refresh rate? Or the drivers need updating
I have a monster of a rig and even I’m getting performance hitches here and there. You’re not the only one bro
👊😎
Dallas hoxton chains and wolf
joy and pearl
the matchmaking is one thing the live service systems and the challenge/infamy systems are trash
