    The soundtrack in the german version is far more menacing, its darker

    After years of watching The NeverEnding Story, I had become well accustomed to knowing when Gmork will appear on screen and what he will do. In other words, I was used to it and not scared of him anymore.
    But then watching this version for the first time and seeing a shot at 1:28 of Gmork that I had never seen before, I felt like "GASP!!! IT'S GMORK! HE'S BACK! HE'S STILL THERE. WHAT'S HE GONNA DO??" My fears were reawakened.

      Violent Rainbow I mean, let's give early 80s practical effects a break, hm? Sure, some shots of the wolf look silly by modern standards, but it still holds up better than shitty CG would (and that technology was still on the horizon when this film was made).

      @@nomenestomen3452 Seriously. Even as much as I love Moroder's Ivory Tower and Swamps of Sadness tracks, they stick out like a sore thumb after you've watched the original German version. Klaus Doldinger had already been doing Wolfgang Petersen's soundtracks for a decade and they "got" each other's vision. Imagine adding some random Moroder synth tracks to Das Boot... ugh.

    • @ViolentRainbow
      @ViolentRainbow 4 роки тому

      @Doctor Who Fan The German one doesn't feel like anything, it's not despairing or ominous enough when Gmork is running for him, it's not hopeful when falcor appears, it doesn't portray anything right. Also Gmork's snarls even sound stupid, more like a wild board than a wolf.

      Keep your 'american version' with this shitty cheesy pop song where the sun don't shine. The German original is also closer to the book and 7 minutes longer. They totally cut out Artax speaking to Atreyu in the swamp of sadness when he drowns in the US dub, which makes the scene even more disturbing/heartbreaking. Klaus Doldinger did also an fantastic synthi score which you can HEAR btw from 0:05 on ("you can't even hear anything in the German version"). Maybe all the fat has already clogged your ears lol. How can somebody be so self-indulgent like you btw? And yes i took a look at your channel and was SHOCKED!! Are you still alive?
