The Swamp of Sadness is actually a perfect metaphor for grief. I realized one day, after my husband passed away, that I was slogging through the Swamp of Sadness on a daily basis, trying to keep moving forward and not think about anything, lest I get overwhelmed by the sadness and then sucked down, never to come back up again. It made it a tiny bit easier to deal with, because I understood the quest then: just keep slogging until you get out of the swamp. (Or a luck dragon comes to rescue you.)
I suggest you to read the book and find the true meaning of the Swamp of Sadness. Is a state of mind from someone with too much negativity like Artax and how a Toxic friendship can influence you to the point of dragging you into a swamp of sadness even if you're the one holding the power. The Auryin presents the setting of your state of mind.

@@shodannadohs4045 funny you would say that. I fact checked and found a quote by Michael Ende: every interpretation is the right one, as long as it's a good one. Maybe one of the greatest kids/family films ever created. There's so many important things that kids learn in this story, from bullying, divorce, and despression to imagination, creativity, reading, and the importance of fantasy. My favorite line from the film has always been, "It has to hurt if it's to heal." Great. Movie.

Happy 40th Anniversary, "Neverending Story!" I'd actually never seen it until last week, when it was showing in a special screening in my local picture house. I adored it, and so did plenty of children in my audience. That theme song is also incredibly catchy.
for everyone interested to watch it, the Neverending Story got released in UHD/4k in Germany (2021) and therefore comes with the alternative cut region free PS: Bonus Fact, despite Limahls song not being part of the german cut of the film, the title song reached #2 in the charts
Sadly it's just an upscale UHD Master but at least it comes with the CORRECT Soundtrack by Klaus Doldinger. And not that god awful cheesy Limahl/Moroder version the Brits and Americans got. This german UHD and Blu-ray release is the ONLY correct version people should watch. Because Doldinger's score is vital for the films overall atmosphere.
I have a copy of the German soundtrack and I have the international soundtrack. I do think the German music is beautiful, but I grew up with the “crap” version. That music is iconic to me. My dad bought me a 45 with the Limahl theme and the Ivory Tower on the B side. I used to listen to it all the time. It’s a core childhood memory and when I watched the anniversary theater release last month, hearing that song again just brought back so many memories.
Doesn't the international cut keep some of Doldinger's cues? I love both scores and think they stand well enough on thier own but also work well together. I always assumed Moroder was German since he collaborated with Donna Summer who lived in Germany for many years.
@@politefan8141 Yes SOME. Sadly not a lot. The Fantasia theme is still in there but not the Never Ending Story leitmotiv like the one we hear when seeing the Ivory Tower and and when Atjreyu and Fuchur are approaching the Ivory Tower after the Nothing destroyed everything. And also during the End credits. And no, Moroder is Swiss. Yes, he lived in Germany for many years and worked in a Club. Which is where he found the passion for dance Music.
Yes, Artax's sinking was even more desperately sad in the book because Artax could talk; he was a proper character by that point and he was talking to Atreyu as he sank. It was at once a representation of chronic depression, and the hopelessness often felt by those who want to help loved ones with depression.
Me too and what he says ‘Let me die I’m so very sad and tired” it stuck with me. But as much as I love the movie as a kid and now it’s at best half the book. Which I guess is what the second movie tried to solve but while I did like the second one as a kid it totally lost the book plot. The book itself was the bad guy all along.when I read that as a kid years after the movie cause I was 3. It had such an impact on me and I loved it. Still do but it’s not what we got
@rhyspatterson679 the main reason I liked the second one was because it was kinda the rest of the book AND Jonathan Brandis (Bastian)was in it! He was my tween age crush. My walls were covered in Bop magazine photos of him. I watched him on EVERY episode of Seaquest DSV, & LOVED him in Ladybugs & Sidekicks! I was totally devastated when he killed himself when I was like 23. I still have the Seaquest action figure of him.
@@Sindollx666x yeah I made another comment about the second half. I loved the second one two but had read the book when it came out and thought it was poorly done because the book itself was supposed to be the danger but I can see why they didn’t want to go that way. Same reason ALF never actually ate a cat on screen. Oddly enough it was the dad who my teenage crush in the second one lol. Though I loved Brandis too in everything he did and was so devastated when he died
"A little bit of hope goes a long way". Thank you for this Minty. It really struck a chord with me as I'm struggling a bit with my mental health. I'm sure your words will come in handy.
Great vid Minty. Fun fact - I used to belong to a prop group on FB. A guy came up and said that he just bought the Never Ending Story hero book. The amazing part was that the person who sold it to him was friends with Noah Hathaway and got Noah to hand deliver the book to his house.
I don't regret subscribing to this channel a few years ago, because it has been fun ever since. Minty, you are awesome! This is a great movie of my late childhood, which now I'm 53.
The other sad part is the rock creature… after the Nothing tears through and wipes out his companions and repeatedly says,” They look like strong hands.. don’t they?” 😳
I remember watching that wonderful film on VHS back in 1995! The hell with possible remake! Even though that the subject of this video doesn’t quite follow the book entirely, the film has stood the test of time. Doubly so with the iconic theme song sung by Limahl (who I thought at first was a female singer when, instead, the guy is a tenor) and his female assist singer!
The story has a moment that really was epic, as the childlike empress grants a wish that they could exist forever together. The two of them, alone in a void loving each other for forever, then he wishes for more things. Amazing.
I saw The Never Ending story in the movie theater. What an emotional experience! The visuals, the epic music, the old school special effects. Seen it over the years multiple times but that first time was one of my favorite movie going experiences that went perfectly with my 6 year old imagination.
I'll always remember seeing ET in the theatre at 4 years old, but sadly, I missed getting to see Neverending Story on the big screen. Caught it on VHS soon after though.
@@CordeliaWagner1999 I prefer good practical effects over CGI .. The Dark Crystal and The Neverending Story just oozes charm, artistry and character because of the hundreds of hours that were spent creating the props. It takes a lot of work to do good CGI but even more to do convincing practical effects.
It’s a quirky movie but I love it. I mean, come on, who wouldn’t want a Luck Dragon??? That scene at the end where Falkor dives on Bastian’s tormentors is an absolute hoot!!
Big part of my childhood right there! Thanks for all the entertainment Minty, you freaking rock! And congrats for 500k subs, man! That's a SOLID milestone!
Loved your comment about how it treated its child audience with respect and intelligence and how hardships make the victories more sensational. Very well scripted and researched mate! Noice one 👍
A bunch of years ago I ran into a young girl at Dragoncon in a Childlike Empress cosplay that was so amazingly done and her own face was pretty close - it was like she walked right out of the screen.
Bonus fact: I was at a convention where Noah Hathaway was guesting. Hathaway said that they filmed the scenes in the swamp for a month. They had 2 horses to play as Artax. They would sink one, switch out horses, and reshoot the scene while they cleaned and prepped the other horse. Hathaway said that scene was filmed over and over again for almost 2 weeks.
The fact of having kept Gmork hidden, with the figure fully revealed only during the final confrontation with Atreyu is also closer to the book, where Gmork appeared in Fantasia as a shapeless mass of darkness, which only later became a real wolf. Furthermore, in the book, we learned that Gmork does not have a wolf or human form (when he appears in our world), since he does not have his own homeland. So it is likely that being rooted in a form close to that of a world that is being destroyed by Nothing (which is a method, a means. But IT IS NOT who is behind the destruction of Fantasia) contributes to making it weaker.
If someone wants to understand the 20th century, watch The Neverending Story. It is an excellent movie, based on a book, about the importance of books, fantasy, and imagination. Most people love the movie, but fail to read the book despite the clear message being the importance of reading the book. That is the 20th century, summed up in a single movie. But glad to find some people took the message to heart and read the book!
I remember watching this in theaters when it came out. My first comment was going to be about the atrax making me cry uncontrollably when I saw it but Minty already took care of that for me. I absolutely loved this movie watched it with my 2 brothers quite often. They're both gone now but when I watch this classic I always think about us sitting on the floor in the living room and it makes me smile.
@@chriscripplercruz1833 sorry to hear that. I am only 48 as well older brothers and sisters. Saw this in theaters as well. But yea sorry you were limited time with them.
Congratulations Minty! I first saw this movie in a TV and Betamax repair shop just beside our school. The owner would just keep playing various movies on the big TV while we watched during lunch break and end of class and The Neverending Story is the one popular movie he'd always play for the kids. This was the movie that gave me the rollercoaster of emotions, from excitement to sadness to intense fear and outright crying fits.
@@SharreIWright I might be even older! But to put things in context, I live in Manila where Betamax was more popular than VHS. There were more rental stores than there were people who owned Betamax players.
From memory, in the book, Atreyu finds him chained up in Spook City, a dark metropolis full of witches, vampires, werewolves etc. All the inhabitants of the city have just been seen grotesquely dancing into the Nothing and throwing themselves in. However Gmork was chained up before they all left, so he's the only one left. He had been on the trail of Atreyu, when the Princess of Spook City lured and trapped him after she learned his mission. As another being of Fantasia, her was technically her enemy, even though they were both creatures of darkness. Gmork has quite a lengthy conversation with Atreyu. READ IT!
I remember during my first week of kindergarten I met a girl and she was so upset. I said, "what's wrong?" She then proceeded to tell me about Artax drowning in the swamp of sadness. Her little heart was broken.
Well said at the end, Minty.. about the current state of things in the world. This movie has always meant a lot to me, yet I’ve never seen the original cut. I definitely need to change that. Have been watching your videos for three years or so. Congrats on hitting 500K !!
Never-ending Story is easily one of the greatest modern fairytales. Thanks for this as I didn't realise there were 2 different versions . I saw the international version at some point as a kid after seeing the normal version many times and I remember it throwing me right off, leaving me to question every subsequent viewing. Mystery solved I have to ask Artax??? It's Artex the same as the textured ceilings. I had the behind the scenes book and Artex had his own chapter titled Artex.
So much cool info I had no idea about. Thanks Minty! I'm glad they cut those scenes from the international version because none of that happens in the book. The movies (the first and second ones anyways) are good, but the book is a masterpiece. I would love to se it made into a series of as many episodes as it takes to tell the original story as told in the book. But since there probably isn't any profit to be made from that, the chances of that happening are probably nil.
Wicked video!! Thanks Minty!! Def feel the nothingness more and more these days too... good to know its not just me... maybe a rewatch'd do me good... TY again!

Superb video! Thank you so much for this. I was lucky enough to see The NeverEnding Story on the big screen back in 1984. I still love it to this day. That scene with Artax still gets me though.
I visited the Bavaria studios in Munich in the early 90s. Saw the submarine from das Boot and sat on Fuchur (that’s what the dragon is called in the German version). Wish I knew where the photos ended up. Of course the scene where Artax dies scarred me for life. Never watched it again. And I got the German version back then 🙈
cool! I used to visit the Babelsberg movie studios in late 1995 over here in Berlin and saw Fuchur from The Never Ending Story Part III :) They shot it there. Took some photos too.
Congratulations on the 500K subscribers. I love your channel because you bring back childhood memories and nostalgic to me. Movies I grew up with and even had forgotten some of them I absolutly adore The NeverEnding Story. It was the first ever movie we rented on VHS tape and my dad had to fast foward the Artax scene every time we watched it. I've met the Atreyu actor at a Dutch version of comic con and a couple of years ago finally bought my own Auryn necklace. The child in me sometimes still wishes for Falkor to appear and wisk me away on far away adventures
It was until I was about, oh, 40 years old that I wouldn't find a reason to leave the room when the Gamork leapt out at the end. Four year old me was truly terrified by that. I'll spend the next few decades on getting over Artax...
I love the part where you first get to see the Ivory Tower, set against the image of a beautiful sunset, and the rock giant says "I never knew it was that beautiful." One of the most iconic movie images for me.

yeah at one point the german original cut was eventually getting a Blu-ray release. The first german Blu-ray release only contained the International cut, which pissed off a LOT of people, including myself. They said they could not find a Copy of the german cut.. yeah right. Constantin Film had eventually licensed the movie to other countries and that also included the original Petersen cut. And yes, an english version of that same cut always existed since this was an international production. As a result It was entirely shot in english too from the beginning.
I remember my babysitter playing this movie a lot. It scared me but I didn't hate it. The soundtrack was great. Hearing the songs takes me right back to my childhood.
Honestly, Parmentor makes me think of Radagast more than Gandolf. Serious feels here though, that scene with Artax in the swamp of sadness still moves me!
I love this! I’ve watched the regular version for years. Never aware of the German cut. Thanks for this really well researched video. Love your stuff! Keep it up!
I remember going to the theaters to see this movie when it came out. Everything was all smiles and sunshine until THAT scene. That's a lot of traumatized children.
The movie and the book changed my life back in 1984 when I was 14 years old. The first matte painting of the Ivory Tower in The Neverending Story is responsible for me wanting to become involved in illustration and create fantasy worlds like that for a living. From that moment on I was addicted to fantasy landscapes. We didn’t had mass media or internet in 1984 so no access to this type of fantasy material for a kid, so I had to pick up my pencils and watercolors and start imagining my own fantasy lands. Which lead me to where I am today as a freelance artist since I started professionally back in 1992. All because of this movie and book. I’ve read the book more than 50 times, I read it twice a year at least as it is my go to fantasy work when I need inspiration. When I was 14 and saw the movie one afternoon at the theater, I was so blown away by the Ivory Tower landscape that when the movie ended , I went back in again to see it once more in the next session. I got both cuts on Blu-ray . Germany released a great 4K remaster of the original cut actually which is awesome. The movie just does not look different on what you mention. The color palette of the original is also different. The international Spielberg cut is super colorful , almost Disney , but the original has an atmospheric sepia old parchment look all over, like a Lord of the Rings movie actually. The original cut when it comes to text is way more closer to the book. The international version dubbed a ton of dialogue and replaced a lot of more complex lines for simple versions , which infantilized the story more and diluted the original intention of the book. For example, the Gmork at the end in the original cut is closer to the book in the way it points to him actually also being a victim of the nothing and not just a servent. Oh and the original voice of the snail rider , weird as it was , it’s the real actors voice as Deep Roy really sounded like that. Although the international cut changed my life, now that also own the original cut , I don’t know which one is better. Although I love the classic limahl pop theme, the fact that the music credits in the original feel more like they belong in The Exorcist makes more sense for the intro . Remember that Bastian is awaking from a nightmare so in the international version having those beautiful happy credits and song makes no sense. And that goes for a lot of stuff in the movie. The original version is way closer to the haunting atmosphere of the book for sure but I understand why Spielberg changed stuff for American audiences. Still both cuts are still one of those movies for kids that actually don’t treat children like dumb idiots. It’s a deep story that resonates with adults for the themes it carries and that is why adults love the book too. It’s neither children or adult material but the perfect balance between the two worlds. And I think the message of the book is still there even though Michael Ende hated the result. The only thing bad and out of place is the happy revenge on the bullies end where Bastian and falkor come to our world. Is too much like a Disney movie and has nothing to do with the book. Although it’s fun. The movie only covers about 35% of the novel and that whole adventure is more like an intro to what happens next in the book. The movie sequel done in the 90s totally simplified the rest of the book to an infantile level beyond belief. The second movie has a beautiful soundtrack though but not even could save what the creators of that disappointment did to the book. The second movie was now a full Hollywood production and it shows in the way they took a complex second part of the book and totally dumbed it down. And let’s not even talk about movie 3 which was more like a giant commercial for McDonald’s …and has zero to do with the novel. Movie 3 didn’t even tried. Anyway great video. I hadn’t seen any image of the deleted scene with the giant. I’m glad they cut that out as it’s not in the context of the book either. Now I need to go read the book again…thanks Minty 😂
Congratulations on becoming an artist! I'd love to see your work! (I too am an artist but not for a living) That was a great and informative comment too!
@@Sindollx666x You can also read more details about the original cut on my Forgotten Movies blog. You can google translate my text in there directly and Google actually does a pretty good job in converting Portuguese into English, so give it a try. I mention a lot of stuff that Minty left out too. The fact is that the original cut feels so different than the version we all know that it´s hard to describe it as mostly has to do with dialogues and sound. The american spielberg cut simplified a lot of the text and removed some darker important lines. If you know the international version really well, you will love the original cut as it really feels weird and different and at first you can´t point out why. If you love the book, then now you need to check the original cut as the mood is way closer to the haunted feel of the novel than the Disneyfied Spielberg Cut we all knew at first. :)
The book is absolutely amazing! I never read the book until I was an adult. There are so many differences. You just have to accept them each as their own thing.
Great video , Minty! Keep ‘ ‘em coming! I really enjoy your content . Hopefully you can answer my question. On average, How long does it take you to produce a video from start to finish???
There is an Arcade Game called Fantasy Zone, made by Sega. It appears to have been inspired by The Neverending Story... as there is a section within in, where you ride a Dragon that is very similar to Falco (the luck dragon). Sega was known for taking Inspiration from movies... like Afterburner II, taking inspiration from the movie Top-Gun.
I read the book for the first time last month. I was confused when I got to the part where Sebastian meets the Empress. In the movie, that's where it ends. In the book, you're only half way through. I had no idea there was so much more to the story.
A faithful adaptation would have been way too long. And since chapters 1-12 were largely Atreyu's story and 13-26 were Bastian's, it was a good place to stop.
I just wrote a way to long comment about that too it being only half the book and you don’t get to see who or what the real villian is in the movie. I put a spoiler tag warning but just wanted to say enough to get people interested in reading it and said who the villian was and why but not what happens or how it ends it’s too good reading itself yourself but I get why the author hated it. He just needs the perspective that if you see the movie first you understand the lure of the villain more beacuse we all love the never ending story so much
I read the book for the first time in the early 2000s. I also didn't officially learn what Bastian named her until I worked with manager at Hot Topic in 1998 who I asked coz she had a HUGE auryn tattoo on her back she yelled MOONCHILD! At me . I still teach people my age that coz they never should figure out what he yelled either! Lol.
@@Sindollx666x omg it took me decades to figure out what he yelled till I worked at a children’s theater who had an ASL person for signing for the deaf do a movie night for deaf kids. We basically rigged up a bunch of lights on a stage around the screen that did different things and separate box below the screen with text. But some kids were too young for text so the ASL lady was off on the side signing up a storm and she did this huge sign when he screams and the second the show ends I grab her backstage and practically assault her if she doesn’t tell me the name he screams. She laughed so hard because I knew the sign for moon but not child so I was practically shaking her “moon what? Moon what!” Apparently if I had bothered to turn on closed captions at any point during my childhood I would have figured it out because that’s how she knew but It was a bit before cc was widely known thing so didn’t fault myself too hard lol
Gamork is the only one with a clear grasp of what’s unfolding and what the end result is going to be… he’s resolved to being a servant to that end. I figure he’s a manifestation of the nothing, like a summoned henchman or something.

Came to say the same thing. Artax in the book is an even greater loss.
Me too and what he says
‘Let me die I’m so very sad and tired” it stuck with me.
@rhyspatterson679
the main reason I liked the second one was because it was kinda the rest of the book AND Jonathan Brandis (Bastian)was in it!
Dang, in the book he could talk? Geez that wouldve made that scene even more sadder
"A little bit of hope goes a long way". Thank you for this Minty. It really struck a chord with me as I'm struggling a bit with my mental health. I'm sure your words will come in handy.
You may not know it or believe it but Jesus Christ loves you and if you trust in him and get to know him he will fill you with hope, and peace.
Great vid Minty. Fun fact - I used to belong to a prop group on FB. A guy came up and said that he just bought the Never Ending Story hero book. The amazing part was that the person who sold it to him was friends with Noah Hathaway and got Noah to hand deliver the book to his house.
He's out there completing real-life quests! 💪🏻
That is an awesome story thanks for sharing
I made my own Auryn necklace that I wear everyday. I made it using silver & gold Fimo/Sculpey clay and put rhinestones in the snakes eyes.
Noah is a fart artist these days. A fartist.

Love your hair, that's so cool.
I don't regret subscribing to this channel a few years ago, because it has been fun ever since. Minty, you are awesome! This is a great movie of my late childhood, which now I'm 53.
Minty's Comedic Arts videos always pull you out of the swamps of sadness.
And the bog of eternal stench

@@digipunk618lol that too Hoggle
@digipunk618 that's my favorite movie
Therapy it wasn't woke cotton wool back then we pushed are saddens and badness deep down.
The other sad part is the rock creature… after the Nothing tears through and wipes out his companions and repeatedly says,” They look like strong hands.. don’t they?” 😳
I think that's what stuck with me the most after all these years.
"These are... big.. strong hands.... right?" 😢
Still makes me cry. Every single time ❤✨🖤🫶
Rockbiter was also one of the last beings to get consumed by The Nothing. He literally watched the entire world die. 😢
Yes!!!! I tear up just thinking about him 🥺
I remember watching that wonderful film on VHS back in 1995!
The hell with possible remake! Even though that the subject of this video doesn’t quite follow the book entirely, the film has stood the test of time. Doubly so with the iconic theme song sung by Limahl (who I thought at first was a female singer when, instead, the guy is a tenor) and his female assist singer!
Ooooh I just learned something new. Thank you for that.
That goddamned horse deserved an Oscar. That look that Artax gave after that reveal of having stopped....
im from germany i can remember watching the original cut with my mom.
and the intro indeed felt deep , fantastical , dark and very serious
I didn't see the German cut until a few weeks ago. I really like the Limahl song, but I have to say I prefer the German cut's opening.
Ich wusste lange nicht, daß eine internationale Version existiert
The story has a moment that really was epic, as the childlike empress grants a wish that they could exist forever together. The two of them, alone in a void loving each other for forever, then he wishes for more things. Amazing.
I saw The Never Ending story in the movie theater. What an emotional experience! The visuals, the epic music, the old school special effects. Seen it over the years multiple times but that first time was one of my favorite movie going experiences that went perfectly with my 6 year old imagination.
I was 8 years old and to this day, I can feel the same emotions every time I watch it.
There are "lazy visual" effects that would be done by CGI today.
I wonder why you overlooked them.
I prefer the lazy effects over modern CGI
Noice one 👍
A girl went to Dragoncon as Atreyu complete with horse head. She placed it on the carpet and “Artax! You’re sinking!” Yeah. It fucked us up.
That's a very resourceful cosplay
A bunch of years ago I ran into a young girl at Dragoncon in a Childlike Empress cosplay that was so amazingly done and her own face was pretty close - it was like she walked right out of the screen.
hahaha amazaing :D
I'm pretty sure I've seen pics of that. 😂😅👏👏🐴
Oh yes, definitely seen them.
@@mrsamtheman80 thank you! 🍻
Congratulations on the 500k.

Wow betamax ! You must be as old as me 😁
@@SharreIWright I might be even older!
READ IT!
Indeed, it was great work. But too metaphysical for a 100-minute movie. And I did enjoy Atreyu kicking Gmork's a**.
I need to revist the book again is been since like 2000
Woohoo! Grats for reaching 500K !!!! You deserve it. Thank you Minty for your great entertainment!
Thanks, Minty for jumping right in to reactivate my childhood trauma.
P.S. - I unironically want one of those Blockbuster hats.
One of my favorite films as a kid. Still watch it often.
Never-ending Story is easily one of the greatest modern fairytales.
Thanks for this as I didn't realise there were 2 different versions . I saw the international version at some point as a kid after seeing the normal version many times and I remember it throwing me right off, leaving me to question every subsequent viewing. Mystery solved
I have to ask Artax??? It's Artex the same as the textured ceilings. I had the behind the scenes book and Artex had his own chapter titled Artex.
Congratulations on reaching over 500 thousand subscribers. Love you videos
Congrats on 500k, I've been happily watching for a few years now.
Congrats on 500,000 subscribers Minty!
Omg, Teeny Weeny sounded absurd! 😂 So glad they changed that part.
Teeny Weenys original voice had to be dubbed over coz DEEP Roy's voice was too heavily indian accented for people.
And thank you Minty, your videos are often a highlight of my day.

Every time I see Falkor, I just feel happy; too damn cute.
In Germany, he is called Fuchur.
Thanks for being a legend and reviewing the classical films of all time.
I still cry for Artax. This was the first movie I ever saw in theatres. Trauma for 6 year old me. 6 year old me also thought Atreau was a girl.
Congrats on the 500k, I’ve been watching you for years and have always enjoyed it!!!
Movies I grew up with and even had forgotten some of them
I absolutly adore The NeverEnding Story.
Can't wait to see your channel grow to a million.
I love the part where you first get to see the Ivory Tower, set against the image of a beautiful sunset, and the rock giant says "I never knew it was that beautiful." One of the most iconic movie images for me.
Good work Minty, congrats on your success you deserve it!
It's crazy that Atreyu was green in the book, but the effect didn't look convincing on Noah Hathaway. Also, I'm still not over Artax's death. 😭💔
It worked for Gamora.

A couple of years ago, I bought a Japanese copy of the Blu-ray. It is the original German cut. The movie is in English.
yeah at one point the german original cut was eventually getting a Blu-ray release.
Congratulations on the 500k Minty! Well deserved! 🎉
I remember my babysitter playing this movie a lot. It scared me but I didn't hate it. The soundtrack was great. Hearing the songs takes me right back to my childhood.

I remember going to the theaters to see this movie when it came out. Everything was all smiles and sunshine until THAT scene. That's a lot of traumatized children.
Congratulations on 500 K subs.
One of my all time favorites ever! Thank you for this video.
(I too am an artist but not for a living)
That was a great and informative comment too!
Yes to all of this, and thanks for the comment.
I think this might be your best work yet…I love the analysis.
The book is absolutely amazing! I never read the book until I was an adult. There are so many differences. You just have to accept them each as their own thing.
You deserve WAY more, Minty
That scene never fails to tear me up, as with Vader's death scene.
Loved playing this game on the Game Gear. It was a really fun sidescrolling Shoot em up.
Congrats on 501k, Minty!
I read the book for the first time last month. I was confused when I got to the part where Sebastian meets the Empress. In the movie, that's where it ends. In the book, you're only half way through. I had no idea there was so much more to the story.
Yes, the sequel, kind of tried to finish off the first book, but the scripts and Hollywood messed that potential.

Gamork is the only one with a clear grasp of what’s unfolding and what the end result is going to be… he’s

I honestly was never that upset by Artax's death, for some reason, despite being in a big horse phase as a kid. Maybe because I'd already read the book and had more context for the scene, but it's also pretty obvious the horse is on an elevated platform. I was a cynical little kid lol
