For these kind of coyote hunts we normally don’t have to hike too far so it is manageable to pack around! Otherwise we pretty much use the tikka tac as a truck gun because we are normally hiking 5-10 miles!
The tikka tac is still one of our favorites and we have a few in our group but we are also building up a very similar gun from a tikka t3x lite with an xlr chassis and that gun should be in the 6-8lb range when done! Definitely subscribe to us if you liked the video and have more gun questions. In the next couple months we are going to try to put together a few different tikka reviews/etc
@@SheepdogConservation thanks for the reply , I was going to buy the tikka ctr and upgrade it with a chassis but the tac a1 is ready to go out of the box with a 2 stage trigger which I like!!
@@mujaahidabdulla2629 I do not know a lot about many african game species. What are the larger game species that you are after and how much do they weigh?? We do a lot of long range shooting and this caliber performs awesome for target shooting 500-1000 yards. However it is hard to claim that it is ethical to shoot larger game with it past 5-600 yards (such as 800-1000 pound elk). It lacks the energy at 500+ yards.. where as larger calibers like the 7mm RemMag, 300 WinMag, 338 lapua will carry their energy at farther ranges and also have much more energy up close!
Sheepdog Conservation big game are between 200kg to 400kg,won’t want to use the caliber for bigger than that,at ranges of maximum 800 meters.Would it be an ethical shot at that distance (which will be a very rare shot). Our general hunting ranges from 300 meters pushing to 500 meters in the open.
@@SheepdogConservation i bought the .223, did i make the wrong choice? I"ll mostly go practice shooting on dummies in a range highest ranges here are about 600m
This chassis rifle wasn’t too heavy to lug around?

@@SheepdogConservation done, you got yourself a new sub!
@@MinhVu-in9iz yep biggest thing is the weight of the tac a1.. As long as weight isn’t a concern then you will be very happy with the tac a1!
Caliber?
6.5 Creedmoor.. we are loving the versatility of the caliber and the tikka t3x tac-a1 as well!
Awesome, will you recommend this setup for larger game?
I’m in South Africa so I need it for quite big game
