Congratulations 🎊 Caleb that is fantastic ❤you should feel proud buddy I got me 37 year's lol never thought I'd see 30 day's thank the Lord 😊so happy for you dude keep being true to you
From one Leverett to another many congratulations on your 4th anniversary. I'm in UK, just past my 19th. Whatever works for you is the right way, no path to sobriety is ever smooth but at least we can handle whatever life throws us, we're in control. I'm comfortable around alcohol these days, no objection to dining out with family and friends who like a drink. Life is good, sobriety is a blessing whichever way we find it. No-one forces anyone to go to AA meetings, it's personal choice. I still go now and then because it helps other people and that's not a bad thing. I've also been running the telephone helpline in my region for several years, for people like me who can't do it alone. There are people like you who can and that's ok too. I admire your strength and your honesty, thank you.
God bless you, kind sir. Broke? I'm there too at 23. But you're somebody to me. I'm cutting bsck my marijuana usage bigtime. I am not sure if I want to quit, but I am going to work it down to every other Friday, two days a month. I chose Friday because of the Friday movies. Sometimes we're able to do things on our own and sometimes we need help. Like me with my depression and no longer around suicidal thoughts. Glory to Father God, he always is helping me with everything. Keep it rocking and rolling, my guy!!
Hey man, I got no problem with your testimony and I'm very proud of you for your 4 years. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't disparage other people's recovery. And I'm terribly sorry that someone misinformed you about AA. Most AA people have always told me that I can go anywhere and do anything as long as I'm in fit spiritual condition. I'm 11 years sober and I can and do go to bars occasionally to see friends and my cousin's band. I'm not constantly tempted. The secret to your success and mine is trying to help others. That's why I still talk to people trying to get sober.. because I know what worked for me and I'm willing to share it. Your way has worked for you and may will help some others. That's what its all about. Congratulations 🎉
Again, I’ve never intentionally nor would I ever intentionally disparage other people’s recovery. That was the point of making the video. It’s only AA people who seem to disparage me once I tell them how/why I arrived at my own way of getting fully recovered. Every time I say “I am fully recovered”, it is only AA people who have this knee jerk reaction to correct me and insist that I am “recovering”. I am not recovering from alcohol. I am fully recovered from alcohol.
@@CalebLeverett that's another thing I don't understand. AA literature is full of stories about men and women who have Recovered! I'm so sorry that people don't Read their AA literature and then blast you and others like you for doing things differently. Also, I would urge you to listen to your video again. Congratulations 🎉 there are many people who never achieve what you have
@gigibeauchamp I don't see the douchieness or pride. He's talking about his way. I am able to slow my marijuana usage with God and myself. I haven't felt tempted all week even with the stuff in my room where I eat and sleep and play video games. Some people need help. Others are strong-willed to do it on their own. How is that bad or prideful? Again, glory to God. I love him ❤️
@@TylerVogel I didn't say it was bad. I just asked that whatever wat works.. share it with others and don't bad-mouth other ways that work for some but not others. Don't discourage anyone from looking for solutions wherever they can be found ❣️
@gigibeauchamp no body is bad mouthing anything. I agree with Caleb that it would be shackles and stress being told all the time that you're an alcoholic and weak from it, and anything with alcohol is a temptation. It reminds me of how some of my family used to tell me I'd never drive or have a job or succeed in life because of my autism and adhd and I should be put in a host home. I believed that lie and hated myself because of my autism and adhd. Now, I'm spending time undoing 20 or so years of self-hatred damage from that. I am all for people getting help, especially if they need it. Like I had to do because of my shitty mental health. However, there's nothing wrong with doing it on your own. For example I quit marijuana once on my own and I realize for the time being I like getting high but it's outta control so I'm cutting it back to every Friday then 2 Friday's a month. I couldn't do it without God, but I don't need an AA telling me constantly I'm addicted and temptations are too strong. There are good AA groups and help out there. You're hung up on the idea that Caleb was ripping on AA when he's not. We're simply sharing our views, and I'm not sure why you're upset about it. Sometimes people's opinions might be strong, but why does it matter? It's just a view, an opinion.
Belated congratulations on four years ... as my mother would say, "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again..." So glad to hear that you remain on the road to recovery. Best wishes!
your way for you is the right way because it works for you. thats it. happy for you and as always, want to see you live your life free from all bullshit. ❤
Congrats on year 4 man. I'm early into sobriety and I know how shitty it can get in crappy meetings in the middle of nowhere but if you can hit up a city AA meeting I think you'll be very surprised. There's a meeting guide app that'll show you all the spots. There's no requirements, no dues, almost no organization really outside volunteerism and service. You don't have to do the steps, you don't have to read the two books they give you for free with the beginners kit, and you don't have to even speak at meetings if you don't want to. It's just a group of really unique people speaking and listening without judgment. First two weeks I didn't say I was an alcoholic, cause it felt like lying to them more than me. Saying you're an alcoholic is more just saying you're a member of AA, which is cool and a good way to connect to your community. And even if you never do it, it has really and actually helped millions of people around the world who could not do it on their own. There's no one way to get sober, and there's nowhere you'll hear that more than at AA
Thanks and congratulations. Keep it up. I went to two different ones last year. One i really liked and the other i did not. It’s nothing personal against anyone. I’m just an introvert and prefer being mostly alone.
Congratulations! 👏👏My son’s been in rehab 2x. The first time didn’t work. It actually got worse. He won’t go to AA, either. He hates being around people. Except for his family. He likes being alone, as well. The 2nd time he went to rehab, things are better. He has taken a drink, since he’s been back. Did you ever relapse? You give me hope, that my son will some day, be completely sober…that’s my prayer. He says alcohol relaxes him. And makes him be a nice person. Otherwise, people think he’s an asshole. He will be 26, this month. This journey has been the hardest thing, as a family, we’ve ever been through. Everyone suffers. Terribly. Any advice would be appreciated!! He thinks AA, is a fraud. Just his opinion! He will not talk to strangers. Period. Not gonna happen. Congratulations on your sobriety!! You give me hope!
No, I’ve never relapsed. My method (which most definitely works for me) makes it easy to stay sober because I’ve convinced myself that all alcohol is poisonous to humans all the time. I mentally removed the desire for alcohol. I’ve noticed that a lot of young people are angry and still use alcohol as an excuse to “relax”, but in my opinion, their anger is more from not being able to earn a living and own a home the way their parents and grandparents did. The economy that boomers have created doesn’t allow it, which is not the fault of gen z. The average house is ten times the average salary these days, but it was closer to only three times the average salary 30-50 years ago. This is why i advise young men to stay single and sober until they have built up their wealth and health. Best of luck to you and your son.
New to seeing ur story. I get where ur coming from and can hear how down u are. I hope things improve for u…. I know from ur other vid that ur an engineer but too old for that type of job, was wondering if u could teach in some form? I know the USA is expensive for everything so I don’t know if there are any retraining programmes that could help but ur obviously intelligent and have a good clear way of talking. I hope u find something, people can suck but not all of them, take care 💜🦇
i'm also around 4 years sober now, no AA either, and i can recall posting you a message a number of years ago, urging you to get sober or whatever i said, i criticized. it takes one to know one and i saw all my bad addiction habits and behaviours in you at the time.
I know you think that's funny, but I've had family and friends die because they couldn't stay sober. Knew a bartender who traded free drinks for AA chips. Understand that it was a joke but please be aware that one drink can kill some people. God bless ❤
