    A USAF study showed that 80% of pilots who where shot down were unaware of the presence of the aircraft that shot them down. The sensor system on the F-35, displayed in user friendly form on the helmet visor, will give the pilot unprecedented situational awareness, and will make this aircraft a killer even when the pilot blunders into a WVR situation.

      +yfelwulf Nothing works? Care to be more specific? The F-35 program has been doing very well lately. I know that goes against the current hysteria stirred up by a lot of false information.
      And if you think the F-35 can't dogfight, I recommend that you google Major Morten Hanche of the Norwegian Air Force. He's got a lot of commentary on the topic of dogfighting the F-16 with his F-35.
      And the F-35 helmet is in it's third generation, it's smaller, lighter, and better, technologically speaking.

      its just an updated JHMCS from the looks of it. JHMCS does the same thing im not exactly sure which one of these helmets came out first ( as this video is probably propaganda to scare our enemies) but we do have JHMCS currently in service on board f-18/f-16's

    • @777Outrigger

      @@jackal1743 It's much much more than a JHMCS. It's a vastly superior sensor system with all the information fused together in easy to use form for the pilot. A pilot who has participated in Red Flags in both an F-16 and an F-35 said the F-16 only gave him a small bubble of Situational Awareness, but his F-35 gave him a "god's eye" view of the air battle. Incredible advantage in both BVR and WVR. And there's this story;
      "As 60 enemy fighters closed in on a US Air Force 4th Generation fighter aircraft, blinding the jet with electronic warfare attacks, an experienced pilot faced unseen life threatening attackers closing in -- during an air-combat Red Flag exercise closely replicating actual warfare scenarios.
      Yet, in a life-saving flash, the endangered 4-th pilot was told to “turn around” by an F-35 operating in the vicinity who radioed an instant warning. The 5th-Gen, multi-role stealth fighter then used its long-range sensors and weapons to “kill” the enemy aircraft, according to an Air Force news report.
      Air Force Col. Joshua Wood, 388th Operations Group Commander was part of the exercise.
      “I’ve never seen anything like it before. My wingman was a brand new F-35A pilot, seven or eight flights out of training. He gets on the radio and tells an experienced, 3,000 hour pilot in a fourth-generation aircraft. ‘Hey bud, you need to turn around. You’re about to die, There’s a threat off your nose,’” Wood explained in the service report."

      @@hardstyle2289 It's called the Red Baron Study, and it was classified info for a long time.
      "According to Red Baron data, the single most significant factor in the loss of aircraft was the element of surprise, with 81 per-cent of all U.S. losses occurring when the crew was either completely unaware they were under attack,or found out too late to effectively defend."
      www.afhistory.org/wp-content/uploads/2005_fall.pdf ..page 10
      And interestingly, Eric Hartmann, top German ace in WWII, said that in 80% of the fighters he shot down, the pilot was unaware of his presence. Hartmann, like all aces in WWII, avoided dogfights and used ambush tactics.. They all thought of dog fighting as a dangerous and low yielding endeavor.
      And here's what happened to US pilots after being shotdown in Vietnam.
      33% rescued by SAR forces
      56% killed
      9% captured
      2% missing
      A Rand Corporation Study
      So 42% of US pilots survived being shot down in Vietnam, and even when a pilot died in a shootdown, there would be corroborating evidence on how it happened.

    I am working on a technology report for this sort of technology, and the question that I keep asking myself - and that I feel I will not get an answer to - Is how?
    How do you get a 360 degree vision, through the plane? How do you see everything as if you literally have x-ray vision?
    Is it satellites? Is it cameras implemented into the jet itself, and a sort of wireless or wired link to the jet itself? If it is cameras, what will happen if the cameras get damaged? Will you just go blind out of that point on your jet?
    Basically, how does this technology give you x-ray vision using a HUD visor?

    • @bartolomeonew
      @bartolomeonew 4 роки тому +8

      Haven't you seen any 360 view in latest cars? This is not really complicated - the vehicle (or F 35) has multiple cameras looking in all directions. Some clever software cobines it into a single 360 image. The complexity comes when you want it to be in very high resolution, combined without any distorsions, display in a HUD of the helmet, track head motion, display all the other data.

    • @WarayF1
      @WarayF1 3 роки тому

      Its very advance. The information displayed can come from multiple sources, it can come from other f35, AWACS, ground radars, surveillance drones, some soldiers on the ground lasing unit, etc... Using a powerful computer and complicated sofware wizardry, processes the information so it can be displayed on the hud in intelligible way...

      Kinda like computer tech
      It’s less about the tech existing, and more of it being implemented without major flaws
      (Hate to have an OS or software crash in a dog fight)
      And being moved to production
      Also, you gotta realize, it’s the government
      I mean a simple road replacement in a town I’m close to take a few months to go through and get OKAYed
      Then they actually gotta do the work
      Which add another few months
      Very lengthy process
      And even in competitive spaces like CPUs
      AMD or intel are already working on the cpus that will be launched in 2025
      It’s just not in a place where we (the pleb pilot, soldier, civilian or consumer) can see/ touch it
      But it takes a year for a new road where only a few hand fulls of people have to work on it
      Imagine the tornado of garbage that has to be walked through to get something like a billion dollar jet to be passed and produced

      20/20 or vision corrected. You're allowed to wear glasses or contact lenses. At least for civilian aviation. Not so sure about military aviation.
      20/20 is pretty generous anyway, 20/20 is far from perfect vision.

      Incorrect. The $1T dollar price tag on the F-35 does not talk about the actual program development cost. The number comes from an estimate for the amount of money needed to sustain thousands of F-35s all the way up until the late 2070s.

    Cool jet but damn they are slow. They are not interested in raw speed anymore in favor of video game like operation and manuverabilty. I think the F22 is pretty quick though. But they don't really talk much about it 🤔

    • @rogerbiggerstaff3293
      @rogerbiggerstaff3293 Рік тому

      Slow compared to what? How fast do you think jets typically fly in combat? I'll give you a hint, it's not over M1.6. The fastest the F-15 has ever flown in combat is M1.4. F-16/18s are even slower. Typhoons might get to M1.5+. Rafale's, Gripens, Flankers, and Fulcrums are all going to be slower than F-15s.

      @@rogerbiggerstaff3293 Well I wasn't referring to "combat" per say. If you research the history of military aviation what was top of their list? Why were they chasing the sound barrier? Why was the SR71 so fast? As my comment said they are favoring manuverability. I was a grunt over seas we frequently heard 18's and 16's hauling ass supersonic to get grunts on the ground that desperately needed help. Plus I never met a naval aviator that didn't like to go fast
