    I have been a photogrpaher for 4 years now. I have used lenses worth as much as $5,000.
    The Nifty Fifty is the most versitle. Light weight, not obnoxious, great bokeh, sharp. You can always move around and get closer as needed.
    Definitely the best for Portraits and street.

    There were times when I had passion but no money. 20D + 50mm, 30D + 50mm.. It taught me a lot. Apsc making it 80mm was a challenge. Zooming with my feet stopped being an issue after a while.
    Then I got 5D Classic and 50mm STM. I own it 9 years. I got used to ff+50mm so much that I cant put it away today. 5Dc is still a pretty competitive camera even though it is from the year 2005.
    However, the need of a video and a wish, a dream to make a progress in gear, made me make an order for R6ii+rf50. Picking it up this friday. Cant wait for the new opportunities out there.
    Lacking the expensive gear made me realize and proved it is not about the gear.
    Ps - luv ur vids!

    Paul, I enjoyed this viseo very much. It was informative as well as entertaining. I shoot with a Nikon D5100, but I'm planning to upgrade to a 24 megapixel camera later this year. I prefer using a crop sensor camera because I'm primarily an ametuer landscape photographer. I bought my 50mm f1.8 lens to photograph our church's praise and worship team singing. I was using my 35mm prime lens but I was forced to move up close which can be distracting to the congregation. With my nifty fifty I can shoot from the back of the room. I do have a question. I shoot in manual mode. I don't shoot at f1.8, even though the lights are low, except on the stage. I know that shooting wide open can make my images slightly out of focus. I generally shoot at f2.8, 1/160th of a second, with auto ISO. My question is, since I am shooting from roughly 25 to 30 yards away from the stage, can I shoot at f1.8 or f2.2 without blurring my shots?

    • @PaulHeimlund
      @PaulHeimlund  9 місяців тому +2

      Hey James! Glad you enjoyed the video.
      Shooting at 1.8 with the 50mm might not create as sharp images as eg 2.8, but the image is not necessarily blurry. When I use my 50mm I usually shoot at 1.8, as the background gets blurry and it’s helpful in low light situations. So, you should be fine shooting between 1.8-2.2, especially if your deliveries are for web and social media. Remember you can always sharpen the images slightly in post, if necessary. Hope this helps and good luck ;)

      Oh absolutely. The filters stay on real tight ;)

      @@PaulHeimlund thank you for your help. I've bought the 50mm 1.8 stm today so I might get a couple ND to take advantage of that aperture during daylight 😊

    So, do you also use the 50mm 1.4 ? Or do you really prefer the 1.8 ?

    I admire your set up, the lighting and neat work. Thank you for sharing. I tried the night shooting earlier .. I didnt like the sky results but I loved how the trees appeared when kept the shutter open for about 20 seconds.
    Question ... the music track that started at around 0:43 .. who does it originally belong to? I have known it only from the middle east since the 80's I think but I had always thought it was Arabic :( lol

      Thanks! And thanks for sharing. The music track is from Artlist. It’s based on Mozart, so I’m sure there’s many different versions of it and there was a disco version made in the 80s. Maybe you had an Arabic version of it? ;)

    Perhaps I'm a bit slow but it still wasn't clear how to turn the lens around for macro shots. I think I need more explanation rather than pictures that quickly fly on by. Did you attach it? Was it just loosely suspended? Please explain in more detail. Thanks!

    I love this lens but had to learn the hard way about Viltrox M2 Speed Booster Mount ! At first it seem this lens was cool with the Speed Booster then focusing issues popped up somewhat. Press the Shutter button halfway down and the camera develops a focus mind of its own. This stuff was effecting my Shore scences (Blur) as Bright light as you explained became unexpectedly untimed issues (need to shoot at dawn/dusk) ?! So i just swapped back to EF-M Mount ?! Long as i can shoot with my 50 without a lot of nonsense so be it !!! 👌

    I purchased the 50 for the EF, as well as an adapter....and then they announced the nifty fifty RF... And I smacked my head, LOL. I should have waited.

    • @PaulHeimlund
      @PaulHeimlund  4 роки тому

      Oh no! LOL. I had no idea the RF was coming neither. I’m sure you’re gonna use the EF lens anyway. Maybe sell it and upgrade it in a year or two?

      @@PaulHeimlund From what I'm seeing there is no real advantage. I don't like the tripod mounting point moving from the camera body to the EF adapter that I got. So I guess not having to reconnect my tripod or gorillapod would be a bonus.

      Ahats the difference between ef and rf?

    • @TexasFamilyCamping
      @TexasFamilyCamping 4 роки тому +2

      @@uchihamadara1126 EF are the lenses that Canon has been using for the last decade or more. RF are the newer lenses that are for Canon's newer high end mirrorless cameras. So a 50D or 90D would use an EF lens. The EOS R6 or the EOS RP would use the RF. I got an adapter so that I can mount EF lenses to my EOS RP.
