    Thank you, Andy. For your first shot at f1.8 i was surprised that so much of the shot was in focus. I'm trying to inquire what you focused on and how such a narrow depth of field still produced a clear picture.

      @AndyHPhotography  4 дні тому +1

      @@louamato6332 the focal point for the first image was the fern at the top of the path (if I have the correct image). This gave some definition in the waterfall but the foreground fern and the fern in the mid ground are out of focus. Thanks for watching Lou and your question

    The 50 1.8 is my main landscape lens. I don't like wide angle landscape shots since I like capturing "true" perspective. I will often just make a panorama if I my composition requires it, and then I get a lovely wide shot without the "small" and distorted feeling of a wide angle shot. The only reason I ever feel the need to get another lens is because of wild life.

    • @AndyHPhotography
      @AndyHPhotography  Рік тому +3

      I love that idea of using it for panoramas 👍 I’m going to give that a go as the quality of the lens would make them so sharp when merged. I do have a 10-18 wife angle although I only use it on rare occasions what the situation calls for it

      @@AndyHPhotography Thanks, here's one. Looking over my old 700 shots, I got some really good images. One, an owl who roosted in the hedge by our wall for a couple of weeks. These were incredible - macro close and pinpoint sharp, lots of small Dof and bokeh, nice compositions. But I got to take my time and lots of shots. But my family holiday happy snaps with the 700 are hit and miss, most poor. How to take decent quick pictures like this, any shortcut or just camera experience? or back to the phone.

    • @AndyHPhotography
      @AndyHPhotography  2 місяці тому +1

      @@HughRogers609 I occasionally use my phone for holiday snaps as it's quicker. Wth the 700, I would suggest using Av mode initially to get as high a shutter speed as possible (general rule is 1/focal length, so at 100mm the shutter speed should be at least 1/100) but the higher the better. In low light conditions this is where a tripod comes in super handy and use the 2 second timer or remote to trigger the shutter. smallet apertures will give you better bokeh too generally 😊

    If you have a crop sensor shouldn't this be closer to a 32mm lens to get 50mm results on the Canon?

    • @AndyHPhotography
      @AndyHPhotography  Рік тому +1

      With a crop sensor it would be 80mm. I did have a bit of video that mentioned the crop factory but the sound didn’t come through clearly so I couldn’t use it unfortunately. I have 30mm Len’s too which is close to 50mm on a crop sensor so will do a video using these primes soon

    • @12symmo
      @12symmo Рік тому

      That’s correct, on canon APSc you would need a ~32mm lens to get the same field of view as a 50mm on full frame, keeping in mind some 50mm lenses have slightly tighter framing than others (my old Minolta 50mm 1.7 is ever so slightly tighter in framing than the canon 1.4) so it’s not worth getting too precise about equivalent focal lengths.
