    I have a 2015 Northern Lite 10-2 EXCD that I carry around on my 2009 SRW Ford F-350 with a Cummins 6.7. I boondock camp about 6-8 months of the year, mainly in the Mountain states and Utah and Nevada. I have taken that thing just about everywhere off road you can think of and it has taken everything without one item tearing up. Really a well made camper, I can't say enough good things about it. Any problems I have had, when you call the company they actually pick up the phone and connected me with the guy on the assembly floor that knew about the problem and walked me through the fix on the phone. Excellent customer service. I have camped in well below freezing temps with no problems as the heat vents are also in the tank areas so no freezing of piping or tanks. A great camper that is super comfortable, reliable and built to last.

    I never thought I would enjoy a truck camper but the mobility it offers has many advantages. There have been numerous instances that we wanted to stop at places while pulling our trailer that we had to bypass because we couldn’t fit in the parking lot. Our 2013 model doesn’t compare to these newer ones. It would be nice to upgrade but they are soooo expensive. I guess I’ll just keep dreaming. Great video!

    I paid 40,000$ for my 4 wheel camper. Steep price and yea, it could have gotten me a really nice bumper pull. But it lives on my truck, it’s the functional, and the ability to take it wherever I want when I want, makes it worth the price.

    They are some fantastic campers. I remember in the '70s when these first started popping up. It was just basically a big aluminum box with a bed and a sink.
    Today you can get so much in one of these. I'm thinking about doing a lot of friend of mine is doing right now. A couple years back he decided to become a touring tournament fisherman for bass. After he bought his boat a realized what it was going to cost to go to a hotel almost every week. Someone suggested one of these campers and he picks one up and has never looked back.
    I'm really thinking about doing the same exact thing. Some of those campers you could spend a couple days inside very easily. A lot of times when it rains tournament fishers need to get out of the water and then you're spending the rest of your day doing nothing but sitting around your hotel. At least this way I can bring my things with me and save money.
    Thank you for whoever shared this video talk about perfect timing.

    I had a four wheel eagle model many years ago. I had to sell it due to life circumstances, but I really missed that camper. I was ready to buy again and did crazy amounts of research. Ultimately I settled on getting a high rise camper shell with a topper ez lift. It’s the most economical and best option in many ways. The slide in campers often require that you do some mods on your vehicle and are actually kind of hard on the truck. A shell? It’s zero maintenance, feather light, and You can build it out how you like it. I’m not so much a carpenter and so I found one to help me do the interior. The camper can also be stealthy if need be.

      I wish Land Rover would make a 4-door pickup of their revived Defender series SUVs. I'd definitely get a Hiatus camper. Having two ways to enter is perfect because you never know if some jerk is going to park behind you and block access to the rear door. Or sometimes, you park in a forest and the ONE parking spot nobody wants is the only one you can use!
      Forgot to add: having watched a few stealth camping videos, one genius owns a similar popup camper and tried sleeping in it with the top down. People don't even come near it. He cheats by putting a sleeping bag on the floor since there's no way to use the bed.

    Depends on what you want out of camping: RV parks or truly unpopulated areas. If you want access to primitive areas I suggest Fourwheel Campers' actual campers, which you didn't show. They have all the really basic options: really good big bed, stove, sink, heater, frig, hot water, shower, toilet. They're simple, light, reliable, tolerate the very worst of roads, and fit on mid-size trucks. Ours is 11 yrs, 70,000 mi, and after 9 summers of camping in the far North a bit scratched but good as new.
    It's a cult, I guess. Happy camping!

      @@mindseyedesign yes, that is definitely over-priced. A "decent" cost would be more in the $1,000-$5,000 range and still have all the "bells and whistles" options (including a shower with plenty of scorching hot water) and a full fridge/freezer within that price range.

    Is there really a class III truck that can handle the Alp Eagle Cap? It’s over Ford’s recommend cargo for the F450. Then you are pushing the GVWR of the F350. I’m sure it is the same with other brands.

    • @petehaidinyak9084
      @petehaidinyak9084 3 роки тому +3

      Depends on how you configure the truck. To get the max payload you have a plain cab, no four wheel drive and a gas engine. Also, minimal extras which add weight. That's why I went with a RAM 5500 with my eagle cap 1165. Fully loaded I still have a couple thousand pound cushion.

      @@gmv0553 I've owned a Lance 1172 and the Eagle Cap 1165 and I can say the the fit and finish on both kind of sucked. The 1172 only had two drawers in the kitchen area and they were small, the counter space was very limited. When I ran the generator it was very loud and shook the camper. The 1165 was a much better layouted and the access to the basement and equipment is better. Whenever I move to my permanent home I plan to redo the electrical and plumbing. I have an 11ft flatbed so I have a Honda 3000i generator on the bed in front of the camper. When it's running you can't hear of feel it in the camper.

      We have a Lance 850 on a long bed dually, and we can park anywhere. That's the advantage of the truck camper. Except for height, it's over 11 feet tall so that can be a problem with low tunnels or tree branches.
      If you have a 4x4 truck with locking differentials you can get around pretty much anywhere. But avoid mud, our rig fully loaded is at least 11K pounds and weight in sloppy mud isn't a good combo.
