@@Erin-Thor They need to custom make one for the Mercedes AMG G63, which is without a doubt, the largest production pickup in the world. It's so massive, it's a 6x6! It did show up in the movie "Jurassic World" when Bryce Howard's character sent animal control officers to attack the Indominus Rex.
@@largol33t1 - Yes, I’ve seen videos of that, I wasn’t aware that AMG did a modified version of it. The AMG letters add serious bucks to the price. I don’t even want to know how much that thing is.
As soon as I could scrape together enough money to buy one I did and have had one almost always for 30 years! . I feel stuck without knowing I have a home on wheels when the urge to go somewhere strikes. So much freedom to go and stay almost anywhere. Love my Alpenlite Odessa 9. It's old but I have not found one that has a better floor plan.
I liked the Phoenix. Alaskan and the Back Pack!!! I think all of them were great though, It was a great video and all of them had something I liked!!!!!!
I wish "sleepers" were still available! It's all I would need in order to comfortably drive long distances. The one we had back in the day was mounted right behind the truck's cab; the back window was removed & stored, and a cushioned & upholstered boot was installed between the cab & sleeper so you could crawl in & out from the cab; it had a big, comfy mattress/bed; there was strong webbing on very strong hooks to keep people or belongings from becoming projectiles into the cab if you had to stop hard. You could store belongings on the bed while enroute. Sleepers were the best! You could pull over, lock the doors & crawl into the sleeper for a few hours, then slip down into the seat & keep driving. Why doesn't a company make sleepers?!

Wonderful! Dry baths are a must in small quarters.wet baths destroy your camper and wears out your wife drying and fighting mold mildew and stink!😁🇺🇸🇨🇦
Considering the cost of a new truck you'd need for those new expensive campers....yes they're expensive....and you might want to think about getting a used b class RV.
Would be nice to see GBP on the prices as well. People also watch from the UK as well. Also, camper that someone has built and not for sale shouldn't be on a list showing campers you can buy.
"Go places a truck bed camper shouldn't go..." Me: remembering riding in the truck bed camper on the (then) unpaved Alcan on our way to Alaska in 1974. My parents rode in the cab. I rode in the camper, which was more cool than anyone could imagine. If I had to go into the cab because I needed my mom for anything, I had to crawl through the tiny window in the back of the cab. I used a metal Folger's coffee can as my potty. (Screw you spell checker. "Potty" is to a word.)
Hard to get a good feel of the campers when the shots mainly focus in on the features of the camper and do not zoom back out to get a good view of the camper as a whole.
If you (and family) camp where there are facilities, these are great. But you need to know the limits, storage dictates very short trips. The ones with restrooms have very small tanks. 15 gallons sounds great until you are faced with the reality that to make your water last for your weekend trip, divide 5 gallons a day by the number of people. Using 1/2 a gallon for a shower is impossible, learn to love navy showers with wet wipes. 😎
True. But the truck camper is good if you so happen to have a pickup truck and don’t really want to buy another vehicle. I like the truck camper because there’s absolutely no moving parts. It’s more or less a travel trailer. At least people are less likely to harass you in the truck camper.
Makers of these things seem to leave out people who by pickups with 8’ beds and lighter suspensions like the F150 and GMC work truck and 1500. I know you can add better shocks and air suspension to a Sierra or Savannah, I’ve done that but an 8’ bed seems to be ignored by this hobby.
Sad .. the one that would suit me best because of age & physical restrictions is #6, the Mercier. On the other hand, all I have to do is find someone to do the work now I see what's possible.😎
More and more, "cowboy campers" are being seen. Perhaps the owner's truck doesn't have the carry weight but does have the towing GVWR, or the truck owner doesn't want to drive with a camper on the back. The truck camper is mounted to a flatbed trailer. It's very common for the "wheel well" areas are turned into storage areas. The back of the trailer becomes a deck, porch or a toy hauler. Easy and economical.
Not cheaper! Some campers are $40 - 80,000 couple that with $75 - 80,000 for truck to handle camper! Only good thing is more dry docking n getting to more places other rv's can't go. Cool campers though!
I like to watch for the innovations. Was wondering when hydraulic actuators would be used to go vertical on the small units. Also was waiting for a simple back extender. Thanks
These are glamping campers. Some of these weigh 6000 lbs or more. 75,000 dollars or more for the biggest. Now let's add a mega pickup to the mix, your talking 80 to 100 thousand dollars for a truck that can handle the weight. You are now in the class A motor home range. This is insane.
We go camping to be outside, until you are caught in bad weather for a day and a half out of the week. Inside needs to be more livable than your number one pick.
I can't wait to see the options that will come out for the Cybertruck! With the low center of gravity (battery in floor) and rugged construction the future camper designs are going to be amazing.
