Genuinely really glad I found you through an eBay listing 😂
Incredible work, can't wait to binge through more content 🙈
Thank you. Just don’t expect too much 😛
would be interested in seeing 64 g2 with SSPs vs 83 since thats even in price
I am selling my DF83. Maby will get new version od DF83 when it arrives. I have done DF83 HU cs DF64 MP some time ago ua-cam.com/video/HOTjO4QQ4U8/v-deo.htmlsi=11UvnmkeaUxmaVTA
Thx for the video! 3:20 So would you use MP burrs for spro either? or did you mean pour over set up?
Thx. If I had to choose just one set of burrs for DF64 I would go for MP. I haven’t tried 64mm hu so can’t be 100% sure. I mostly use hand grinders for pour overs but MP works well for any method
Great video.
I’ve had a specialita eureka grinder now for almost 2,5 years and it has been good. I’ve been too lazy to clean it it think and sometimes I have a hard time dialing in the coffee.
Is the df64 a big upgrade do you think?
Thx for watching. It would be a noticeable improvement in terms of clarity for sure and probably in terms os workflow, especially df64 gen2
My DF83 experience was a weird one since initially i thought it was a very high body but low clarity grinder and burr set which I actually liked because I have higher clarity grinders already. But i opened up the de-clumper a bit more and body was reduced as well as retention and the need for a bellows and clarity increased i think as burrs got seasoned the clarity increased a bit more too! So its a different grinder now vs when I first got it. Were you doing these comparisons with stock burrs or had ssp HU in the df83 (that would be not so fair heh) i think df64 may be similar where after seasoning or modding the declumper it might reduce fines and evolve over time like df83 did.
I think you are spot on here. I used standard burrs on both today (Itamil on DF83 and Chinese on DF64). I also believe after seasoning DF64 will improve in terms of clarity.
I just got the df64 gen 2, and you mentioned 0g retention with the blower, is that the thing at the top that u press to blow the coffee out? Sorry still learning here
Congratulations. How do you like it. Yes I was referring to that bit on top.
I'm probably in a minority but the sound a grinder makes was an essential part of my decision making when it came to buying a grinder. I could not live with a grinder that has a high pitched shrill like both of these. It was the number one reason I bought a Niche. It's just so much quieter and pleasing to the ear with it's low-toned rumble. A nice comparison for those in the market for one of these tho Jack. 👍
Thx for watching. DF83 sound is a bit lower in frequency. I also have Niche Duo. Yes it is quieter but relatively slow. I am sure that the sound of DF64 Gen2 will be improved in version 2.
Do you prefer niche zero or duo sound and which one did you get. I cant get a loud one as morning coffee with DF would wake up my youngers.
@@hussainmahmoud7881 the zero is the quieter and the one I own. But the duo also has a lower rumble tone but is louder because of it's larger motor and using flat burrs. It really depends what burrs you want but both are quieter than most in their respective categories. If you just want the quietest grinder you can get than the zero would be a better choice.
Can you describe difference in flavor profile between the Chinese-new burr in DF64 gen 2 vs the same in DF83v? It's hard to determine how much is gained from 83mm burr compared to 64mm when the burr geometry are different but seems the new burrs in DF64 gen 2 and DF83v are same geometry so may provide more definitive results. For instance you compared 83mm SSP HU to 64mm SSP MP but then these are different nomenclature, and geometry. Or you compared DF64 gen 2 against DF83 original but the 83 is seasoned and it's Itamil vs. the new 64 burr. By the way thank you for the various comparisons between burrs and grinders. Thank you!
Thx for watching. Somehow YT removed my previous answer to you.
83 mm burrs tend to open up flavours a bit more. Expect a bit more depth in the flavours. It is not like if you would definitely noticed it every time, but chances are you would choose 83mm over 64 6out of 10 during blind tasting. This morning I did pour overs on DF64 and 83 using ssp cast burrs and struggled to determine which is which. Usually the difference is more noticeable in espresso.
Anyway, DLC burrs offer coffee with more rounded flavours, satisfying shots with balanced notes.
hey guys, hey Mr. Coffeeshow! Thx for the video!
Maybe you can help me with my big decision:
me: mostly café creme (lighter to medium roasts) + espresso (almost full roast range actually); want to play with beans and roasts a bit
wife: only espresso (medium to dark roasts for chocolatetiness) + combined with milk; doesn't like acidity and fruityness at all in coffee
Which grinder would you choose? DF83v2 / DF64gen2 / Niche Zero or Duo?
Also, do you think it will work for "every day use" to always change grind size with the grinders, for example when I change grind size from espresso to café creme and back every day?
Thank you so much!!
Hi,
All of those grinders would work well with different grinds sizes as long as you change settings while burrs are running (except for the Niche). Sometimes when I make big adjustments I also purge the grinder. For your wife Niche Zero would work well but overall I would be choosing between Niche Duo or DF83.
@@mycoffeeshow111 thank you very much. You're an awesome man!

Hi there! I was curious can you describe difference in flavor profile between the Chinese-new burr in DF64 gen 2 vs the same in DF83v? Thank you very much for watching. Interesting question. In general, bigger burrs will unlock more flavours. I’m planning to compare ssp cast 64 vs 83mm. As for the question you asked, df83v has different burrs than df64 gen 2. I haven’t used DF64 for a while so don’t remember exactly, but 83mm dlc burrs deliver decent balance between clarity and body. Something that would likely satisfy most people without being too challenging.
Good question! Who is making DF64? What is it? Is it a brand called DF64?
@@harbinguy1 well it is Chinese manufacturer by Ningbo Frigga Electric Appliance Co. The company is located in Ningbo City
Is this company in Ningbo the original designer of the DF64? or are they copying others. @@mycoffeeshow111
