Pog. Not surprised. In the past scientists also found that even playing a piano makes you better at math. I'd say modern competitive video games are a lot like playing a piano but also when someone is trying to mess with your tune.
i disagree, i didn't have these traits before i tried sc2. i was completely inept at understanding abstract concepts. After sc2 ,i'm the same, but i can play sc2.
They're often very big with a lot of water: useful for researchers but not for anyone that's not going to use it for their work, boring and technical with a lot of words being gibberish to pretty much everyone not working in the field. idk about you, but I can't read any research papers unless they're about the topic I'm very, very interested in and I can use the information in the paper for work I'm doing. As an example, I can watch a YT overview of a research paper on fitness, but it's too boring for me to read the whole paper: it will take a whole day and I won't even understand a lot of information.

this only demonstrates that sc2 players have these traits, not that sc2 causes them

@@MachinedFace88ttv maybe you are just plain stupid with no hope
wow genius
Yeah but this is only for Terran players.
nah you misread it, the terran players were excluded cuz the researchers failed to find their brains
@@arodreth Actually , it only applies to races that require above 200 apm. Therefore ,only terran.

There's a reason zerg players serve the Overmind.
I think their conclusions are in reverse. We are intelligent therefore we play starcraft. Not, we play starcraft, therefore we become smart.
Can't establish causality..we have just proven starcraft makes you smart! 😛
Sensation! Scientist discovered that by doing complex and difficult things you become smarter!
while I appreciate this was an article from a reputable source, why not read the study/journal/paper instead?

Because although brain big, brain not thaaat big.
Man if a dumbed down game makes you smarter, imagine what Brood War does to your brain.
Artosis' stream is a psychologic experiment answering this question.
Brood was is 80% clicking on your buildings and macro no brain needed just a good finger and fast click on each building
