- In this video, I show you how to take your .Bin and .Cue files of ps2 games and convert them to .Iso using OPL Manager which is the same program we already use to add artwork to our PS2 hard drive. This is ideal for people already using OPL (open playstation loader) manager to get the artwork associated with whichever game you're adding to the HDD. This eliminates the need to get other programs such as magic iso or power iso or daemon tools.

The PlayStation 2 (PS2) is a home video game console that was developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the successor to the original PlayStation console and is the second installment in the PlayStation lineup of consoles. It was released in 2000 and competed with Sega's Dreamcast, Nintendo's GameCube and Microsoft's Xbox in the sixth generation of video game consoles.
Announced in 1999, the PlayStation 2 offered backwards compatibility for its predecessor's DualShock controller, as well as for its games. The PlayStation 2 is the best-selling video game console of all time, selling over 155 million units, with 150 million confirmed by Sony in 2011.[11] More than 3,874 game titles have been released for the PS2 since launch, and more than 1.5 billion copies have been sold.[12] Sony later manufactured several smaller, lighter revisions of the console known as Slimline models in 2004. Also, just a side note: If you stream the games from your OPL Manager to your PS2 utilizing Free McBoot, then you MUST put the .iso's into the CD folder for OPL.

because most of games are into bin and cue and rarely into iso directly
When you open the program for the first time you'll be asked to set a directory to an OPL folder.
Inside the application make a folder called "OPL" and make 3 folders inside it each called "DVD, CD and ART".
When you are prompted to select the path to the OPL file, do so and hit save and it should populate with the rest of the required folders.
If you have many games you can put them all into the single DVD folder and it should process every game in a single action :)
Hi, when you say inside the application, do you mean within OPL Manager home screen? Or do you mean within the folders it comes with? I can't see an option within the OPL home screent to create a new folder.

@@TheManCaveYTChannel I sort of got it to work through OPL Manager but I'm still having problems with titles longer than 32 character. I'm not sure how to fix that problem
Because OPL adds the Sony digits at the beginning. Just edit it to something less than 32 like it says. Once you get your art files, rename the iso manually by right clicking and renaming it whatever you want before adding it to your ps2 hard drive. Your artwork will still show up like normal in OPL.
@@TheManCaveYTChannel yea it was annoying cause I used OPL Manager to rename them cause at the time I thought I had to do that to download the art for all the games. So I ended up having to fix the names of at least 50 games

can anyone help me out, ive been trying to convert my ps1 bin files to iso but everytime at the conversion screen where you press start there is no title for my game and once its in iso format its just named "no disc" and i cant get the artwork for my ps1

So the games that have .bin and a .cue file, do I need the cue file to? Do I need to convert that as well and put both converted files into the DVD folder of my USB?
You need both files but when you select the game you want converted to iso it’ll only ask for the bin. When it’s converting, it’s reading the audio track info from the cue file. Once it’s done converting you’ll just have one iso file and that’s it. You’re done.

Sort of. You need a program called popstarter on the ps2 to play ps1 games off of a HDD or usb. It’s not that great as far as compatibility.

Yes you can play any region as long as it’s on a flatscreen. If you’re using a tube tv, most European games won’t display correctly because their TVs run at 50hz and North America and Japan are 60hz.
Free mcboot is pretty straightforward. But I probably could a make video about that.

It might but ps1 emulators use bin/cue files with no issue. This is meant for people playing on original hardware

If I convert PS2 bin/cue files to isos, would they still work if I also compressed them to cso files with maxcso?
Cso is for psp so I would say no

Hey man I Have a problem, Each time I try to convert the .bin file into iso- it just turns back into a winrar archive and at tis point I'm just fed up with it, If you know wats causing this do let me know
What about Dynasty Warriors 2? So far it's the only multi-track CD game for the PS2 I've encountered.
I think I have dynasty warriors 2 on my HDD and it works fine.

You converted the .bin file. What about the .cue? All you need to convert is the .bin? I ask, because some of the zip and rar files have both bin and cue files in them.
You need both. But when you select the game it only asks for the bin. When it’s converting it’s reading the audio track info from the cue file. So yes, you need both files to convert to iso.

Yes but this is for ps2. For ps2 you’ll have to look into something called popstarter and it’s hit or miss. You’re better off just burning ps1 games on a cd-r and playing them that way. Or emulation

Im struggling to get the CONFIG file for Gauntlet dark legacy to work on my ps3 and the only thing i can think of is because strangely it's the only ps2 game ive installed that is in .bin format. Ive tried renaming the config file: Gauntlet - dark legacy.bin.CONFIG but the known problem of freezing still happens at the end of the first level. But the config file exists for a reason so either im not understanding something but idk. My hail mary is to convert it to an iso like all the rest so i can name the CONFIG to: gauntlet - dark legacy.iso.CONFIG like all the other CONFIG files. I cant find any answers to this anywhere

Can anybody help me. I'm trying to put a roster player name file into my NCAA Football game. So the players can have real names instead of just numbers like QB11.
I've done all the settings in the game and those are saved as a .bin file in vmc. But the roster Files (PSU & Max format) I can't get game to recognise the files. I've put those files in the vmc folder and no joy. What I'm thinking is those files need to go inside the bin file (if possible) But I can't open the vmc .bin file to see what's in there and see if I can insert the roster Files.
I've also gone to launchelf and memory card anihalator to try solve this issue but no joy. I just can't see the woods for the trees and how to do this.

Using the latest version of OPL on my PS2, whenever I try to load a BIN file I converted to ISO on my exFAT formatted SSD, it fails to load, only displaying a white screen on the PS2. The program doesn't present any errors when converting the BIN file to ISO.
Not sure since that new exfat method is very new.

What about games where the original title is greater than 32 characters? Seems OPL has no idea what to do with them. Guess I’ll have to go through my entire collection and rename all the ones that are longer than 32 characters, but the problem is even if you tell OPL to get the right file name from DB, snd that file name is greater than 32 characters it still throws an error. And around and around we go.
You can actually edit the name to whatever you want. Cut it down to something below 32. After you get your artwork, rename the .iso to whatever you want before transferring it to your HDD via winhipp

Popsstarter unfortunately. If you wanna play ps1 games on ps2, you’re just gonna have to good old school and burn some cds

It should work because the file format is the same. Bin cue iso.

For marvel vs capcom 2 it's saying the title is to long >32 do I change it in opl manager or the DVD folder?
Just change the name in opl under 32 to get the artwork files. Then rename the iso to whatever you want from within the dvd folder before adding it to hdd or usb device.
@TheManCaveYTChannel no I figured it out I had the game open in a virtual dvd drive and it wasn't allowing me to cha ge it because thw file was running I ejected the disc and was able to change the name no problem
@TheManCaveYTChannel I have one last question and I wont bother you anymore, I don't have alot of space on my computer and my games are on my usb how do I add art without coping the games over and taking up more space on my computer amd transferring them back? Is there a way to just set up a path and opl manager can read the games off the usb and find art download it to the art file and then I cam copy that art file into my usb?

Which game? How are you playing the iso? USB? Hdd? Mx4sio? Smb?

Correct. But most ps2 games are dvd not cd. Make sure to get the correct discs.

There is no option to convert to cue. Just select the bin and it’ll read the info from the cue and create your iso file. Done. That’s it. The cue file is basically just a list of audio tracks for the game.

Save file? Not sure what you clicked on because this is for bin/cue files and iso files.

Chd is typically an arcade rom file format.
When i open the bin file i get an error message
ok so ive downloaded need for speed underground 2 put it on to the disk it works got all sfx but no music is there a reason for this it came in bin and cue i converted the bin and didnt use the cue file any help

For me it didn't work because when I try to burn a dvd with Iso file, an error pop-up appears on Nero Burning app.
If it works with pcsx2, it should work with Nero

When selecting a game to convert, just push ctrl+a to select every game. It’s probably going to take forever but it should work.

I'm new to this but I don't have any bin, cue files when downloading the games just disc images files, any idea why? I do download the roms but just comes up as "disc image file"
Is it a .bin .cue or .iso? Right click, properties and it’ll tell you.

You have to add it manually. Look up or tutorial on UA-cam or the easier option would be to buy another memory card that already has it. Also opl and opl manager are two different things.

Don’t see how. This doesn’t require internet to work.
I just use WinBin2ISO (x64).
Simple yet effective.
Btw, if archiving PS2 ISOs on an HDD, use RAR best compression to save space. I guess 7z does slightly better, if even.

why are some ps2 files in bin/cue format to begin with. i just noticed this for the donald duck goin quackers game.
It has something to do with the PS2 using Blue discs in the first 2 years.

Yes i just solved this. Firstly, make sure your version of windows (assuming your on windows has its firewall turned off, you've allowed access privarte and public to almost everyhting in the network share centre advanced settings. Also, that your DNS and Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IPv4) settings are on automatic. Go to Network settings, to find the screen, right click on the wifi or local area connection, go to properties. Also, you can find more info on why it be happening at PS2-Home website under OPLM sub forum. Basically your browser or firewall/netowrk settings are not allowing OPLM to link up with the website/server and that shwy your getting that message, its taken me three nights of messing about to figure it out!!! Good luck
Edit; make sure you turn on all your security settings back to normal once your done with OPLM, leaving everything turned off and shared it asking for trouble of course.

Yes but there’s another software you have to use if I’m not mistaken. This is more for people using a hard drive in their ps2
