That dress held such hope, and now it just makes me sad to look at it. RIP Diana. You were much too young.
Yes, so true. That's exactly it. The gown is gorgeous and reminds us of what a wonderful, loving spectacular woman and person Princess Diana was. Yet now when we see her wedding gown, our hearts break for her. I personally feel sorrow and sympathy for her knowing what turmoil she endured.
Unfortunately, he didn't love her, RIP dear one

Think if she were alive, she’d have it burned.
Indeed. The fairy-tale we all hoped she was walking into, turned out to be a nightmare.
It was made for the RIGHT woman, in the RIGHT place, at the RIGHT time. On its own, it's a beautiful gown, but Diana made it a masterpiece.
Nel momento sbagliato: l'ora dell'inganno.
Beautiful
Most beautiful bride of all time. The gown was spectacular but only she had the beauty and class to wear it.
kiwigal1965
You are entitled to your opinion. She was a beautiful bride. Just not in that dress. Thought it looked like a nightgown that the granny in Red Riding Hood would wear.
True. Here, this dress looks ordinary bcs she didnt wear it
This dress is super ugly. Diana was a style icon. This dress belonged to th 18th centuty
kiwigal1965 you're right.
I think the wedding dress was heavily inspired by Cinderella. The carriage, beautiful Diana & the dress all went with the story of Cinderella. She was & will be the only princess ever living on this earth.
This dress has this antique Victorian 18th century look about it. It's gorgeous and stunning on her. Fit for a queen. She exudes a true sense of beauty, class and royalty wearing it
So sad she never saw her kids grow up or her grandchildren🌹😞
@liberty Ann
Like my beloved Mumma, she passed away at very young age, but we feel her blessings.
This dress will always be a timeless classic.
The Spencer tiara was the prettiest. I was a teenager when Diana married, and I loved that dress.
The Spenser tiara was gorgeous how it shone in the sunlight.
It is a stunning work of art. It was a dress of its time and the detail and craftsmanship were out of this world. It really is a fairy princess dress.
Diana's wedding gown truly made her look and feel like the princess she was with grace and elegance.
This dress was displayed here in Australia over 15 years ago, the detail was absolutely mind blowing.
I think the black "revenge" dress of Diana has to be my favorite, but her wedding dress is quite an intricate piece as well. But beyond all, she was such a lovely human being, its sad her life ended with such tragic events. She definitely deserved more love than she received.
Unfortunately, I wasn't born in time to see Princess Diana's beauty, but I can see from the videos and photos. She's so beautiful. She is truly the definition of a princess.👑💙
This is not only a complete story, it a dress that speaks whole of her life. There is none like her dress for the whole world to remember and the memories will never be extinguished from our minds. She was the princess and he was the toad.
Totally agree! Turd...not toad!
princess diana was the best and the most beautiful of all princesses there will never be another like her
The dress is pretty in the video but looks like something I would see in a Confederate museum in the U.S. She made it magical. She brought the dress alive (like she did everything else she wore).
Beautiful wedding dress. But unfortunately beautiful Diana, Princess of Wales is gone too soon and that's so sad. RIP Beautiful English Rose.🏵🌹💖💟
😥She didn't die naturally, it was not an accident but she was killed by Charles and his father👿
Technically she wasn’t a princess when she died. She lost her title when she divorced Charles.
Kara Stub wen William becomes King - he will surely restored his mothers title....wat a moment it will be.
Aisea Konrote
Please learn how to speak proper English and please study the bloody royal laws. Diana LOST HER PRINCESS TITLE when she left Charles. IF wills becomes king then her title will NOT be restored as she was NOT of royal blood. Wills might die before he gets a chance to be king. Charles will be king when her royal highness Queen Elizabeth 2 dies sooner than any of us want. Something like what happened to Diana could happen to wills and Kate. The paparazzi killed Diana. Whose to say they won’t kill any of the other royal family members?
Kara Stub lol...my english is fine...n i dont need to learn rules n regulations.
I said wen William becomes King..he may n can restore his mothers title...regatdless of the situation with charles...William will act n speak from his Heart.
Times do n have changed..
This dress is not that good. But our princess Diana made it beautiful by wearing it. She will always remain in our hearts.
She is still present in our hearts ❤💞❤💞❤💞
She married as a real princess. Even when her dress is outdated for today standarts she truly knew how to impress everybody. The dress was suited for the future Queen.
The dress was grand and regal, that was the point. It wasn’t made to be a “ordinary dress”. It was made to be unlike anything anyone else had ever seen
I saw that live as a teenager and to this day I still am so moved by her beauty she was and is the most beautiful bride ive ever seen she glowed in that dress ✨🌟✨🌟
I was 9 years old when Diana and Charles got married. I remember waking up at 6:00AM, hearing my mom and sister watching the wedding. I loved the dress than and I still love it now. It was a perfect princess dress. It was a magnificent dress, for a stately occasion, in a spectacular cathedral. I know it wrinkled in the coach, but the designer smoothed out the wrinkled in the skirt and train. And Diana looked regal, as she went down the aisle. Sad that the marriage did not work out, but they had 2 wonderful sons together.
Absolutely amazing and no one else could have worn this. Only Diana!!!
Lisa Lane No one else WOULD have worn it!
Because it’s so unbelievably ugly. It’s an ugly dress.
@@pommiebears what
@@pommiebears no its not hideous. I don't find it ugly either.
Diana's dress was very unusual, and suited her perfectly. I actually liked the wrinkled appearance of her dress, I knew that the wrinkles are what silk tafetta does the best! There has not been a dress to equal this since.
Um vestido lindo, exatamente digno de uma Princesa Diana era linda e seria uma maravilhosa Rainha que descanse em paz
Princess Diana's wedding dress was truly a Cinderella dress.
BUT, I do remember when I was watching her wedding day, when she came out of carriage, my jaw dropped wide open on seeing how wrinkled her wedding dress looked.
Arshi Kaur I remember the broadcasters exclaiming over the fact that it was so badly wrinkled. They explained that it was due to the fabric itself. I remember they called it “raw”. I was surprised to see it without wrinkles! I thought the wrinkles added to the old fashioned fairy tale look.
That's silk taffeta for you, wrinkles quickly
I was there (well, on the street). Saw her come by in the coach with her father (veil still over her face). Walked to the palace after and saw the kiss on the balcony. When I watched it on the television later that day I too was pretty shocked by how wrinkled it became, and was surprised that with all the meticulous attention to detail they didn't realize that this fabric didn't do well crammed into a carriage. Since I was there, it was an uncharacteristically hot day, with lots of humidity, and this may have played a role as well. Dianna's was also having a bad hair day that day (at least in my opinion)....again, the humidity I'm sure. Nevertheless, an amazing moment in history that I am thrilled to have shared. And, my daughter and I flew to England for the Meghan/Harry wedding as well. I'm sad to see how that marriage is unfolding. But the wedding day was wonderful.
JS I remember setting the alarm and waking at 4am to watch it in the states. I was so happy to have seen it. I also watched Kate and Williams wedding as well as Megan and Harrys wedding.
They didn't think about the transport of a super big dress... In a really small car
Alone the wedding dress is not pretty at all but on diana on the day of her wedding looked very royal..
angel da vinci TRUE
angel da vinci cause you judge it by today's fashion standards. If you look back at the 80's and the trends back then, you'll see that was beautiful for the time.
angel da vinci ❤
angel da vinci well said
Very true. It doesn't matter if you look at fashion today or not ... up close this dress looks cheaply made. Plus, anyone woman alive in the 80s had something made out of taffeta. The material is absolutely horrible. Diana made the dress beautiful. The Little Bo Peep dress is ugly. I am sure if Diana was alive today she would say the same thing ... she had exquisite taste.
She was such a saint, truly. I was 11 when she passed away and I remember my mom and her best friend just bawling and consoling each other. May she rest in eternal peace♥️
Of the saddest months of my life...my precious Momma passed away suddenly, Mother Theresa passed away
....and then our beloved Diana....❤❤❤❤❤
The dress is a classic fairytale gown
Beautiful, elegant and very royal ❤.
U all will agree with me that the dress fitted diana like a glove
All the flaws disappeared n she looked regal👸
It did not fit her in the bodice
DIANA BORN PRINCESS!!! Of course she is a real Princess and she is a Princess
I see some people are saying the dress is/was ugly I have to completely disagree I think her and who dressed her for the day *NAILED* it the dress had the innocence to it seeing she was only 19 and still a virgin it made her larger than life because of the backdrop of where she was getting married and the grandness of the whole occasion she was marrying the future king of England and was to be their queen consort if they stayed together that long her dress was everything to me even looking at the wedding 30 plus years later I think she looked gorgeous and completely hit it out of the park it was truly a beautiful dress and her look was on point that day and the majority of her life
Aquarius baby - Odell is bae
Totally agree! Well said.
David Emmanuel dressed her for her wedding
Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. Even Diana said years later she thought it was ugly, too.
It certainly cent the *message* that she was an unspoiled virgin, but some of the Palace Staff suspected otherwise, during their courtship. Sad that public opinion was so stifling!!
--- She was 20 years old when she got married, not 19.
Beautiful dress and such an inspiring lady! Very sadly missed too!
Diana made the dress even more stunning....she was such a radiant beauty. ❤
She wanted to be remembered as queen of people's ❤️. She will always be missed.
She was so pretty!
I LOVE THIS DRESS, SOOOOO MUCH, AND IT WAS KEEPING WITH THE TIME!!!!
I saw this dress on display in Kensington palace. First, you can tell it was made at the request of a very young girl. It was full of bows and lace and very fro-fro. The gown is HUGE but she was a tiny size. It had to be a particular color because the Emanuels weregiven fabric from Queen Mary's dress to incorporate into Diana's gown. What most can't see is the beautiful embroidery on the waist that was birds and thistles.......stunning.
Years later I saw the gown in Philadelphia and it was definitely not taken care of. At that time it was in the possession of her brother, Charles Spencer. It was until her sons bought the gown back that repairs were made to ripped parts of the gown.
In all fairness to the Emanuels.......they thought she would be in a big, open carriage.....not smashed in the small one.
They were as equally surprised at the condition as all of us! But like Diana...it was a history maker.
A shocker gown really is Fergie's dress. Bows and butterflies all over the back of the dress. Additionally, it is the most expensive gown made for any royal bride in England!
Donna Bittner Wow! Thanks for the info on Diana’s wedding dress. I learned a few things.
Two comments
1. The reason that it was covered with frills, bows and lace did not relate to Diana being young.
It has to do with the fashion of the day.
It just happenes that at precisely the same year as Diana hit the scene, the fashion turned to the most lavish and romantic styles possible.
Now, this was not IN RESPONSE to Diana- I know this for a fact, because the NEXT SEASON fashions are trialled in Australia, by the fashion houses of Melbourne and Sydney, BEFORE they hit the catwalks of Paris, London and New York. This is because, being in the southern hemisphere, Sydney Summer is six months ahead of the Northern Hemisphere.
It means that HIGH FASHION in Sydney may be six months ahead of London, but only catwalk fashion, not "off-the-rack".
This is long winded..... but these large skirts, soft fabrics, lace, ruffles, and full sleeves all hit Sydney before Diana wore them, and since I was there at that time, I was delighted.
Unfortunately, the very feminine fashion only lasted brifly, and was replaced by broad shoulder pads and skinny skirts.
These suited Diana, but didn't suit ME at all!
2. You refer to Diana as a "very young girl".
I keep making this general point.
I REALLY DISLIKE hearing a young woman of 19 or twenty being called "a very young girl" as if she was a four-year-old.
She was not "very young". At that ime, marriage at twenty was perfectly ordinary.
Nowadays our perceptions are warped by the fact that young people stay at home, and stay dependent and as students until mid twenties.
It is infantile.
MandyJMadison, any way you slice the pie that dress screamed, Young.....ok, woman!
Have you ever seen Diana? She and I ended up next to each other while exiting Harrod's by their revolving door.
Her Aura and kindness to me hit me like a meteor! She was tall with flawless skin and that smile....the eyes!
I think I cried all day with joy for those few minutes she shared with me! I would never say anything negative about that woman....but I think she gave the Emanuel 's their biggest faux pas!
Sending peace and love from Philadelphia!
@@donnabittner69 Yeah, that smile!
Those eyes! She had charisma in a way that none of the Royal Family has ever had it.
The Queen was beautiful, but always proper and regal. Margaret was VERY beautiful, but totally superior.
Diana had charisma.
MandyJMadison, How did the Emanuel 's do after designing this dress? I see him on Say Yes To The Dress but NOT her!! I wonder if this dress made them superstars?
Question: did they make those adorable bridesmaids dresses?
Thanks for replying!
Thank you so much for the close up pics of this dress!! I LOVE THIS VIDEO. Princess Diana looked like an Angel floating down the aisle on her fathers arm. God rest her soul ❤️❤️ We miss her dearly 19 years later 🌹🌹🌹
Absolutely agree with you Myra!!!
It's incredible how I didn't even know Diana yet I miss her just as much and if not more than a close family member. She had such an incredible effect on people when she was alive, and even more so after she passed. R.I.P. Diana!
Diana put life to the dress..
My absolute favorite of royal wedding gowns. Absolutely stunning!
I am 52 and in the 80 s that dress was beautiful!!! Tafetta was very popular . And she was beautiful soo sad😢
idk but even this days I find it so beautiful❤
It's a gorgeous gown ...if there is any gown if want to wear its this one ...perfect for a princess ..so special ..
Timelessly beautiful... the wrinkled fabric on on the wedding day gave more beauty..
The best exhibit I ever went to see is Diana's wedding dress. It is so stunning. Absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful Princess Diana's stunning Wedding Dress. I was glued to the TV on her Wedding Day. I grew up in England and Diana was a great inspiration to me and other young girls of the time. Diana I will always miss you. You were an outstanding and lovely person inside and out. Shame you were taken away from us so young. It was so unfair. RIP MY BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS.
Gosh Princess Diana was beautiful. We all loved her. RIP 🙏🏻
She looked like a princess for real.
Stunning young woman, stunning wedding gown.
Beautiful pure souled young woman. Too sad Charles did not treasure her.
She looked gorgeous in her wedding dress. We are looking it in todays fashion perspective. It was not meant for us to like in 2020 but back then she looked truly like a princess. Her dress showed royal wedding. When I think of Royal wedding I think of Diana´s wedding and her dress.
So breathtaking. It's sad that she died so young, but great that her memory lives on. I'm also her 10th great cousin
I got to see Princess Diana's brida gown when The Diana Exhibit toured The Union Station in Kansas City,Missouri. It was a pleasant experience and a joyful one. I recall seeing the gown up close and personal I sighed for joy. I also saw her other dresses and the other artifacts that was part of her childhood and her late ancestors. If you all get the chance go see this wonderful exhibit. Thanks for sharing the video.
I read recently that when she exited the coach the impression was of a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. Look again at this scene and its a perfect description. 2:01 is gorgeous photo of her.
Susan Crawford I love that picture of Diana. It’s stunning.
That photograph is mesmerizing! Absolutely wonderful!
Yes iconic
I thought the dress was beautiful when she was married and i still thinks it's beautiful.
Everyone is forgetting the dress ended up not being wrinkled when she walked fown the aisle. It straightened out beautifully.
I got to see her wedding gown a few years ago when The Princess Diana Exhibit at Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri. I oohed and awed at the lovely bridal gown woren by the late Princess Diana
Beautiful dress, Beautiful Diana RIP Love lady. You are loved and missed.😘❤️
I NEVER FORGET THAT DAY. SHE LOOKED SO BEAUTIFUL. SO SAD ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO LADY DIANA. 😔😔😕😕😔.
Sem dúvida é o vestido mais bonito de todas as princesas e Diana é a princesa mais bonita e carismática que já existiu.
The dress fabric was made in Sudbury Suffolk, not Nottingham. That is where Stephen Walters Silk Mill is. The dress is pure silk.
It looked so beautiful on her. She’s so missed. Most beautiful woman in the world
Evelyn Marisol it looked pretty on Diana but it wont look good on other woman,i wouldnt wear it
That dress holds her aura captured ~ RIP people’s princess
I thought the dress was stunning and the wrinkles only added to the gorgeousness in my opinion. Her tiara sparkling takes my breath away. Just a vision. I adored her and was blessed to see her gown in person. Rest in peace beautiful one. Heaven shines brighter with you there.
Princess Diana is still our Queen of our hearts, sadly missed every day ❤️
The BEST Fashion Icon
she can carry any outfit extremely well
My inspiration!!!!😍😘
I will never forget that wedding day the dress is just so beautiful and so was she ❤️
I was very honored to see this expedition in Atlanta it was incredible one of my very great memories.❤️
Most beautiful bride ever!!! She was stunning!
Vestido super lindo! Princesa Diana super especial. Agradecemos a Deus pelas recordações lindas deixadas por ela como presente para todos nós.
To be honest, the dress was only alright, but it was Princess Diana who made it look spectacular !!
I got to see this 10 years ago. It was amazing.
Diana make this dress look more radiant, beautiful and unique!! 🙏💐♥️♥️♥️
I have loved this gown ever since I watched the Royal wedding on TV as a child and still love it to this very day.
Me too with grandmothers etc & went to London KP and only smelt Lilies as exited station a mile away wow :-)
We will be missing you so much on May 19th but your presence will definitely be felt in so many special ways by all of us who loved you. HRH Princess Diana of Wales gone but never forgotten .
Such great memories of a lovely day. God bless Diana.
i was 17 years old watching the wedding on TV, and when she stepped out of the carriage i gasped. that was the silliest looking dress anyone could possibly dream up, for the silliest girl on the planet. it was most certainly made for her.
What have YOU done for others? What have YOU done to make world a better place?
The dress reflects the time period of the 80’s. It looked beautiful on her. Made just for her.
Beautiful!!!
Thank you. xxxx
Beautiful and heart breaking at the same time
Such a beautiful dress. I love Di and that dress!
I really miss her. The dress is a beauty. She's very unique. There will never be anyone like her.ever her beauty is unique.
She married in 1981- I came to USA in 1987. It's weird to me I felt I was watching the wedding after I came to U.S. tho. But still. R.I.P. to princess Diana.she would always be in my heart as the princess and legend icon.😑. To me.
The most wonderful wedding dress ever, not for the material, the style etc but for being the wedding dress of a a true Princess, the queen of ❤️!! An incredible woman
So beautiful!!! She really made the dress sparkle!! Tragic ending, so very sad.
Just found this on Thanksgiving Day 2020. It made me cry remembering the wedding.
Wats d use preserving and glorifying her wedding dress when the actual princess herself was treated so badly by her husband and the royal family. Nobody took action to stop that from happening 😏
Because it was she who wore it, not the family.
Please, enough is enough. Her husband and the Royal Family did not treat her badly. If anyone treated anyone badly, it was Diana who treated her husband and his family badly. Diana has to sit there looking down from heaven in anguish, witnessing how her lies and manipulation of the media and people’s emotions, how her distorted, self-serving and often false narrative have imprinted themselves as fact upon her favourite son, and as a result have taken him far away from his home and family. That would kill Diana twice.
What action do you think should have been taken? Lots of people’s marriages break down for many reasons, and it’s an emotional time which can result in he said/she said disputes BUT not every person can go to the world’s media to slag off the soon-to-be ex spouse and their family. And in Diana’s case, the floor was open to her, because for the royals, or for anyone with a modicum of decorum about them airing their dirty laundry in public is anathema, completely undignified. And, it was DIANA who ended her marriage, not Prince Charles. A royal marriage is two things: firstly, it is a marriage, and secondly, it is a job, when she quit the marriage she also quit the job. Diana need to have never made public the separation, the private relationship might have ended, but she still could have done the right thing remained married to Prince Charles in name only, and kept the job. It would hardly be the first royal marriage where that was the case. Or the first marriage that wasn’t royal either. The family absorbed the shockwaves the Andrew Morton book caused, but the Panorama interview was a bridge too far for them, and the marriage formally ended in divorce. So here’s my question again, who should have done what? Think. In your own family if someone’s ex was slandering and backstabbing your family, and for whatever reason your family couldn’t come out and publicly defend themselves, so the lies and the innuendo casting aspersions on your family keep coming, and more and more people started believing them, what would you do? And would you feel obliged to do something for an ex, that has used and abused your family, bad-mouthed them, disrespected them, all the while living in a palace home provided by you, along with significant retained privileges and financial support. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
@@virginiaviola5097 Camilla, is that you😂😂???
@@sandratruster3305 must be her 🤣🤣🤣
I think the dress fits Diana as a princess. I lived through the 80's and there were many fashions. I was married in 83 and I wore a dress more like Catherine's. (katherine) I think she was more like a princess than either Katherine or Meghan, because she hadnt experienced life yet. She had an innocence about her, a simple beauty that showed her underneath elegance and charm. She bloomed into a woman of exquisite taste and excellent at formalities. Diana was one of a kind. A true princess through and through and a tragedy to lose her so young. Whatever you think about her she loved others because of her inner self not because of cameras or royal protocol.
Katherine I favor for her spirit over Meghan, but Meghan is American and she is trying to do the best she can. She hasn't been around royalty so she is learning. No one should judge her because Harry chose his wife. He could have chosen anyone. So Meghan is going to be the new generation of royals. I think both of the women deserve positive reactions and reports from all sides of the news. They would probably prefer to live their lives. It is society that is interested in them. I just love to watch their fashions.
Both women have excellent taste in clothes and great form.
This dress is prettier on than off. Diana made it beautiful ♥️
This is perhaps one of the best dress!
I wish they could have made a wax image of her just like that day of her wedding.. It would be more touching
LOVE AND MISS U PRINCESS.....SEE U IN HEAVEN WITH GODS GRACE! :)
Omg! Very beautiful wedding gown😘
So beautiful! The wedding gown of all wedding gowns i think
The most beautiful Princess in the world and on the day of her wedding she look so Happy
My personal opinion and people eyes she will Always be Princess of Hearts and the Queen of England.
1:50. NONSENSE. He refers to the length of the train. He then goes on to say that Diana had to pull the train with the tiara. What rot! Thr TRAIN was attached to the dress. It was the VEIL that was attached to the tiara. There is a very big difference.
Agreed! I so glad you noticed he said that too. As the curator, he should know better. No bride pulls their train by their tiara!
Right
yep I am always amazed about such bla bla
I never did lke that wedding dress . But I loved her in it. I LOVED THE SPARKLY CRYSTALS ON IT ..THE VEIL WAS BEAUTIUL AS WAS HER SPENCER CROWN TIARRA...
THE TRAIN WAS A LOCOMOTIVE INDEED . it went on and on..She was the most loved PRINCESS AND LADY EVER
.SHE WAS AN ICON
SHE LIVE FOREVER.
So gorgeous! Her skin tone was so beautiful!
best dress ever. best princess ever. boo to Charles.
No, NOT boo to Charles. That poor man was forced to marry an emotionally disturbed woman whom he could NEVER love, because he was going to be king and she looked good on paper. I like Diana, and feel bad for her...but Charles also had to suffer too.
@@kugelweg Disturbed? Lady Diana disturbed? Fooled its called fooled. A teenager fooled into believing he loved her, but found out before the wedding he was into Camilla, every way possible ;) In front of the whole world to watch.. Disturbed? Look whose disturbed now.. You are a sad example of that woman.
He wanted to marry Camilla years before, but his uncle and father did not approve the match for some reason, he was forced to break up with her , she ended up marrying someone else but it was an unhappy marriage , he was strongly encouraged to marry Diana and he was unhappy about it but could not stand up to his mother the Queen. So much unhappiness to both prince Charles and princess Diana could ha e been avoided if the family had not meddled.
@@K.Spade7902 👍👍👏👏👏
@@MissMaria1988-- I think Diana was emotionally disturbed and quite immature. She was 19, never really been out in the world and her sorry excuse for a mother abandoned her and her siblings so she could go off and screw a South American jockey when she was a *very* young girl. I think Diana was truly unfit to marry anyone at that stage in her life through no fault of her own.
The real life princess that actually lives through ages of time!!!!
Even if i die i still want to see her(=
