- (8-13-2014) Sadly a few months after this was shot the building was demolished. It was built sometime in the mid-1960s (I want to say 1966 but I'm not sure), and it was demolished on 12/1/14 to make way for the Central Place development, which will feature 2 towers: 1 residential and 1 of offices (the second tower is going on the site of the old McDonald's next door, which was demolished earlier). I don't recall which tower is going on which site. Floors 7, 8, and 9 had been vacant for as long as I had known the building, and we determined that the 7th floor might have been haunted Anyway here is a detailed look at the property. Stay tuned to the end for some photos.

This brings back memories... I used to explore this building all the time before it was demolished, and somehow I never got tired of it LOL. So far, I haven't been able to find another building quite like it that's still around.
The fixtures in the elevator are 1960s Epco Flushline

When watching these abandoned building urbex videos, it always interests me how many old lights and elevators are in these buildings.
The building was demolished - but they did it early. I went in there, and found the elevators to be very scary. The next week, the building was gone. During the building construction next door, as they were digging the basement - it caused a crack in the foundation of 1730 N. Lynn - so it went down quickly. My office is right across the street at 1735 N. Lynn.
Glad you got them while you could. Would love to have had the Exit sign at 3;30. Reminds me of the ones in a school I went to long ago lol

We used to have a lot of elevators here in Houston with the internal buttons here they were usually old Montgomery's
this spot is clean to be abandoned, nice video !
I know it's probably a bit of a hike for you, but the Clara Maas hospital in Newark, NJ, has a few interesting elevators, including a vintage Otis with the black buttons.

Also had a hotel here with the circle variation on those same buttons and those were definitely monty's
Fun when I found it and fun when I went in and didn't realize it was in the process of being demolished. RIP. :(

These buttons were used on old Dover/Turnbull elevators here in Canada
The inside buttons kind of look like epco buttons but I dont think they are because epcos buttons only click they dont actually push in like these did

At least it was replaced w/ a tower w/ a free & public (for now) observation deck, & has scenic thyssenkrupps!

I think there's a residential tower where the McDonald's was, a town square type thing between the 2 buildings, which has some thyssenkrupps to a garage in the middle, & the CEB Building, an office building with the observation deck on the 31st-32nd floors. CEB is on the site of this building, & has the same address (1730). I think thyssenkrupp did the whole development.

That light in 6:04... It's dark everywhere that part, and then suddenly, that dim light in that room... Creepy!

But seriously, I just wonder who the heck was maintaining these elevators and how they are still running because the place looks mostly abandoned.
I'm guessing that the building before it was demolished, the owners may have had plans rent out the spaces. The nail salon and other stores at the begging of the video prove someone was there. I guess maybe the electric bill was for the whole building rather than just the storefronts.
And even Im not sure what was built in this buildings spot when they tore it down oh well
I know 2 abandoned floors and old buildings like that in Salt Lake City.

Those buttons actually look like 1980's EPL Kone buttons... But they're not.

As much as it is to see such an old and cool building get demolished, I'll be honest with you I'M GLAD THEY TORE IT DOWN!!! While the Elevators were super rare and really cool, the building looks like a total dump and has fallen in tons of disrepair. I can totally see why they tore it down, it needed to go.

They opened up a McDonald's nearby just to let you know. And besides the 3 Schindler glass elevators to the station, they also installed two more ThyssenKrupp street elevators along Lynn Street that goes to a parking deck underneath, and the plaza above. (glass shafts but their not glass on the inside) Tells me that the new development is getting ThyssenKrupps

This building was from the 60's i can tell i thought it was from the late 90s.

Well they should have remodeled the building instead of demolishing it.
Also level B4 is a fallout shelter level so you can survive tornadoes or nukes there.
Also at 6:00 is that an abandoned office room were the dim light is on because it kind of scares me a nano bit.
To me it looks like there has been a gang fight at that building a long time before this was filmed. because to me it looks like someone spray painted the exteriors of the building with graffiti meaning that the building was too vandalized to be remodeled so they demolished it.
you could get a few homeless refugees in there, its a pity they cant walk to arlington.
For this to be an abandoned property (at the time), it certainly was in fair condition. You'd think it would've been plastered in graffiti or full of vagrants. The lift is in surprisingly good shape, too.

I think this has to be the WORSE urbex video ive ever seen. Literally nothing interesting to see apart from white walls and open floor spaces. Whats the point?
