Hi Theresa You know if you don't want to take so long in making this put your heat up a little higher than medium to Brown your sugar... It doesn't burn as long as you stir... Add your milk sooner and you can have this done in 15 minutes instead of 35-40 minutes standing at the stove I'm 76 years old and I've been making it for over 55 years with great success. Yours certainly looks good, however, it just takes a lot longer God bless you and Eric ✝️

I came back to wish you Heaven and say your caramel icing is delicious with crepes. Crepes are easy to make. You pour your dough mixture in a skillet, 8 inch, it makes very thin pancake tortilla you fold over to eat.
I remember my mom teaching me how to make caramel icing … when she was supervising me … it was sooooo good but as soon as I tried it on my own … it was hard candy…. I leave all of that caramel making to the experts 😂 … you make it seem so easy but I know better than to cross over into someone else’s lane 😅

I used to make this all the time for my homemade caramel cakes,it’s been a while since I made a cake from scratch, It’s amazing how convenience will make you lazy,Thank you for sharing.
Today, I made your caramel icing for a friend's birthday, and it turned out great. I have an electric stove, and during the whole process I kept the stove on 5( medium). My caramel cooked for 20 minutes. At that point, I had to boost the temperature up to medium high (#6 on my stove), because on my stove I think medium (#5) wasn't hot enough; I wasn't seeing those large bubbles you talked about. So, I cooked it at that temperature for maybe an additional five minutes and took it off the heat. It only took my caramel icing about ten minutes to cool down enough to icing my three layers, and I had to move fast. That icing started setting up. I hope I followed your recipe the right way, but overall the cake looks GERAT...!!!! I wish you could see it...!!!!!

I saw on TV yesterday that Someone was starting up a business & 2000 orders were sent in for their Caramel Cake’s which had 7 real thin layers. Shucks I could retire after that one order. Thing is they all want it on the same day. Or within at the most 2 days before Christmas. I’d just tell them I’m going to have 500 Caramel Cakes here everyday for 5 days & it will be first come, first served. And Love You Man!!! Just Sayin’ I don’t work well under pressure, but my daughter & husband could blow them away & say what else can I do for you. Lol
My mama use to cook her caramel icing in her iron skillet and she had to stay with it so it wouldn’t burn but the way that you are cooking it looks a lot easier
