Yeah that's pretty common, I remember another one that was part of the press conferences while they were searching for his victim and he kept saying that he wanted to help the parents, asking the community to help with the search, etc. I guess that makes them feel smarter than everyone else and/or they enjoy watching the family suffer.
Or they know that people will suspect them if they coincidentally leave town after the murder
I think the main thing is that they know it will take suspicion off of them. "If I'm helping them then they won't think I did it."
It also gives them insider knowledge of what the police have figured out. And they can try to lead everyone away from the actual areas the crime took place in, etc.
It's shocking that the teacher was effing the student IN HIS OWN BED.
The swimming one hits so close to home. I cannot swim and my new school had a pool. During gym class one of the mandatory units was of course swimming in the pool. I told my teacher that I couldn't swim and their response was just try and we'll see how well you do. I'm fine in the shallow end/ if I can stand up in it if I feel like I'm going under. But then the next half of class we were made to dive off the diving board into the deep end. And I was made to do that as well. I almost drowned/ barely made it back up to the surface. The gym teacher thought I was essentially lying just to get out of the unit. But after almost drowning they made me stick to the shallow end for the remainder of our swim unit.
Sounds like an absolute nightmare, I can't swim either and had a gym teacher try to insist I get in the deep end of the pool. I refused and took the F. A good grade in one class is not worth dying for 😢
Our high school permitted swimming in the nearby river during hot weather (during PE class time), right up until one of the boys in a junior class drowned. Everyone was traumatized; it wasn't a big high school. What I laugh about now (black humour) is that our rivers are NOW known to have bull sharks (always), but of course none of us knew that then. So drowning by misadventure wasn't our only problem. And where I lived then, there's also a good chance there's crocodiles, which have been moved further south down our coast from the sub-tropical regions by flooding. Yes, it's Australia.

I remember once when I was 7 and I nearly drowned at a pool. I've had thalassophobia (fear of deep bodies of water) ever since. I can somewhat swim now, but still 😕
I remember being at my swimming lessons and being so afraid to jump into the deep end.
I can't swim either although I love being in the water. For some reason, no matter how much I try and practice swimming, I can just never do it right. When we had a test on swimming in school, I failed it of course. It was pretty scary, I wasn't close to any edge when I realised I couldn't keep going and to top it off, everyone in my grade was watching. It sucks.

Well, I can't when I attempt to it makes me go under the water, and then it starts going in my nose and eyes and I just start panicking. It sucks when people act like I'm faking it. Or like swimming is so easy everyone can do it. Not everyone is taught how.
I had 1 swim lesson when I was a young child but my parents couldn't afford to keep taking me. And I did horrendous during it. If I can touch the bottom or have a floaty device I'm all set lol And I agree, if I'm close to/ able to hang on to the edge it's way better for me as well! =^_^=
Oof, that 2nd story sounded very similar to what happened in my school. Except it was the High School choir director himself.
4:36 is literally my reaction to that story. How the heck does an eighth grade middle schooler impregnate a junior in high school, with said junior going to sleep with his brother who’s a sophomore?
How does that even happen?
She was probably already associated with the high school brother and met with the middle school one through there, honestly gross
The only thing I can think of is 1. the eighth grader matured quickly or the more likely option 2- it wasn't the 8th grader's child, it was the 10th's, i.e the girl passed it off as the middle schooler's child for whatever reason when in reality she doesn't know and it was actually the sophomore's kid.
The guy you were referring to who was interviewed was a man named Stephen Mark McDaniel who was accused of murdering another Mercer law student named Lauren Giddings.

At the school I went to, one of the students turned up in a balaclava and cans of petrol, he even tried dousing the deputy prinipal and lighting him on fire, fortunately the lighter was low on gas, and thus didn't light, whihc gave other staff time to tackle the renegade student.

I think the biggest scandal that happened at my school was someone leaving a note in one of the bathrooms saying that they would off themselves on a specific day. Well, that day came. No deaths happened. The student got in trouble for it, but at the very least, some students having mental issues did get the help they needed. It was all just to raise awareness.
Not in my school but my husband's: During grades 7-9 they had a really creepy young adult teacher that made sexual innuendos towards mainly young boys. He was also very active in the local scout group as a leader. Everyone were nervously joking about him being creepy towards young male kids. A couple of years later he got arrested for being a pedophile. Although no names were published in the media (news article), everyone (and I mean *EVERYONE* ) in our community knew who it was about. Not many days later, the school came out with a statement that the teacher "quit because of personal reasons".
in my high school, my freshman year, two guys on our football team who were best friends got high and one of them accidentally shot the other one in the head and killed him. they would play with a gun they had that had a lazer on it when they’d play video games and use it to distract each other. the kid didn’t know it was loaded and also thought the safety thing was on and accidentally pulled the trigger that was very sad day.
second when i was in the 8th grade another kid at my school wanted to poison our science teacher during our science fair (she was nuts) with expo cleaner but accidentally put it in the other teachers cup and she had to get her stomach pumped. But his dad is a lawyer and he got off with no charges and came back to our school end of freshman year after a year at a private school.

As awful as school was at least this never happened to me, but students did spread rumors I was a serial killer because I was quiet, I did my work, I didn't talked much and just ignored everyone. I also only wore black, and was wearing giant hoodies.
