This guy haven't been outside of any cities by the way he talks about public transportation and cars. Cars are required to live on a daily basis in most areas, especially the coast.
I in Norwegian by city; Oslo: jeg Bergen: eg Sandnessjøen: æg Narvik: æ Toten: je There's about 400 different dialects (some are so different from each other natives struggle and have to switch to "Oslo/bokmål" to communicate) and two written forms of Norwegian (yes we have to learn both). Have fun!
2 month vacation? No, 5 weeks, and most can only spend 4 of them in a row, so to speak. Listening to this man, and another one from this same channel, I have to say Im struck by how nice they are, and polite. We, as Norwegians, are as good or bad as everyone else, I think.
Never realised "saft" was something anyone would consider strange xD But I guess it kinda is? xD "Sing-song language" Cheers mate, I like that one, I'm taking it as compliment xD And thank you for all the kind words about my home.
You forgot to tell that people pay taxes in Norway! Many pay 35% of their wages in taxes! That is why we have little poverty, as these are assisted by the Social Office. And we get help in hospitals without having to pay for it! Due to tax.+++
According to the United Nations, the 10 happiest countries in 2019 are: Finland Denmark Norway Iceland The Netherlands Switzerland Sweden New Zealand Canada Austria The United States did not make the list.
Stores are usually open from 27th-31st of december, if 24th of december ( christmas eve) is on a friday, Monday-Thursday is normal (27th-30th). Stores on New Years eve closes earlier, the same is on Christmas Eve.
In the city the bus and subway goes every 6 minutes but on the countryside the bus goes every 6 HOURS and if you miss the last one you have to walk 7 miles home.
There are actually more weapons per capita in Norway, than there are in the US, we just do not use them to shoot at each other. and all weapons must be registered with the police, and one must have a hunting license, or be a member of a weapons / gun club, to be able to buy them. there are of course exceptions, here like all other places. the police, as he says, do not use weapons unless it is a serious incident.
We only have 5 weeks holiday during the year. But one can only do 3 or 4 weeks in one go during summer. The rest you can do whenever you want during the year. But then we have also xmas holiday, easter holiday and more shorter holidays. So . well it adds up nicely.
OECD: middle class US 50% Norway 70% EU Poverty rate (below 60% net median): US 30% (less welfare) Norway 15% (rent, utilities, food) Shopping area: pedestrian area Most important thing though: Prices are high bc avg wages are twice that of US, taxation similar (payroll, soc sec + health ins) Norwegians have 5 weeks vacation by law, paid sick leave and paid parental leave. Home ownership: US 63% Norway: 81%
You really picked up a lot. Im from Norway and im impressed. I only tried whale 2 times. It is very expencive i think. And it is more like eating meat with a little bit of fish oli.
I've seen a couple of these interviews and they all seem like really nice people who accepts our way of living despite this being a very secularised society. I like that.
Norway has developed some in the later years. There is Sunday open shops now, and shops who delivers food products. And yes I love fish, but lutefisk is no good :~)
We are just better at shaming the poor from showing.. Doesn't mean we don't have them, just that nobody sees them. Even the old has difficult to live, as they have less than the lowest income to live off..
Nice words 👍😊 But the most of us do have.cars. We are not so many people so you don’t get quite the same traffic you are used to. The shops are open from December 26. to 31. if none of this days falls on a Sunday. The most of us is secular or none believers. We automatically become members of the church when we still had state church.a decade ago. What ever. The most of it was spot on.
Lol there are tons of poor people in Norway, and poverty is a growing problem, as the difference between rich and poir only gets bigger. It’s just not as noticeable as in 3rd world countries...most people here can afford the same things, so on the outside they may not appear like the struggle, but behind closed doors...it’s more visible in other areas like vacation, activities outside of school etc. Also unless you live in Oslo like me, and rarely go outside the city border, then you may not meed a car, but everywhere else, you do. Unless you wanna walk in the cold, and rain, or take public transportation which outside the big cities is shite. I grew up in the suburbs/country side, where the bus comes once every hour. Not fun...you have to plan everything when it comes to time management and transportation unless you don’t wanna be able to get back home at night lol. Sure there are taxis/cabs, but expensive. Like in most countries, it’s one thing to just come here for a short period of time, vacay etc, than to actually live here permanently. Most of these people has not lived in Oslo, but on the west coast of Norway like cities like Bergen/Stavanger which is quite different to Oslo.
The number of refugees is in fact very low. It just appears like a lot because it's a tiny country. It has fewer people than a normal size city in the USA.
There is some awesome stuff over here - - but this is a bit to romantic. I am glad he had a good time, but it's not really this golden over here. Thanks for all the compliments though.
Dear mr. ? Come wisiting and I PROMISE You the "lutefisk" will not remotely remind You of anything "jellyish"! If it does, I don't eat it! "Lutefisk" shall have the texture like well cooked cod! The extra that should come with "lutefisk" is the concentrated flavour. And then some.... :-) Extras should be fried bacon, green pea purée, bechamel sauce with plenty of nutmeg, real norwegian goat's cheese and the one You don't miss: The legendary Almond potato, which is the potato that is mainly grown in the regions of Norway where the dish originally came from. Bon appetite!
Almost no one i know takes long vacations. Its to expensive even for us Norwegians. It only the really rich that take long holidays. Most people just travel around localy in norway
Norway is amazing but about public transportation away from cities really need to improve. If you compare for eg Switzerland, where there are public transportation even at the top of the mountains..
This guy haven't been outside of any cities by the way he talks about public transportation and cars. Cars are required to live on a daily basis in most areas, especially the coast.
Yes. I grew up in a village about 4000 +/- a few hundred. In Northern Norway.
There are actually relatively many rich people there, Norway has more billionaires per capita than the US
The way he says «takk for maten» is very very good considering he’s not norwegian
Matt From Wii Sports yeah it was a good pronounce
We don't call it the state church anymore, we've separated state and church because more than 50% of the population isn't religious.
👍👍👍
Most of us actually own cars but not In big cities, kind of like it is in Newyork. For big cities public transports are prefered more.

Katharina Kolbjørnsen i think thats because we are too god at critisizing ourselves in norway
You are not helpful but selfish catching hitchhiking is a miracle and this is an example

I'm gonna correct you on the church thingy, Norway doesn't have a state church anymore. It's more secular now.

These Christian ambassadors are super polite, with an extremely positive attitude. Also his colleagues. Smart to re-edit an old series.

Everything cost several times more in norway then neighbour countrys. Grocery stores have overpriced food and lousy selection.
We are just better at shaming the poor from showing.. Doesn't mean we don't have them, just that nobody sees them.
Even the old has difficult to live, as they have less than the lowest income to live off..
Gas stations and some grocerystores are open on sundays!
It's always funny to see from their views :)
Well... I guess we have it pretty good. 😊
Also. Other countries. Get on the felles ferie program.
I am form Norway!!! 😀😀
Nice words 👍😊 But the most of us do have.cars. We are not so many people so you don’t get quite the same traffic you are used to. So i live in norway, so this was fun to watch :D
The number of refugees is in fact very low. It just appears like a lot because it's a tiny country. It has fewer people than a normal size city in the USA.

Almost no one i know takes long vacations. Its to expensive even for us Norwegians. It only the really rich that take long holidays. Most people just travel around localy in norway
Traveling anywhere else than locally in Norway costs you more than a flight ticket to Spain + hotel for a week 😂
To be fair, we ain't anything special - Norway
NORWAY IS ONE OF THE RICHES COUNTRY OF THE WORLD. THE GOVERNMENT HAS ALWAYS HAVE A HELPING HANDS TO HELP US.
Wery good to speak Norwegian.
Norway won the lottery with its large oil reserves.
We do have Homeless people, but you rarely see them, we are too proud and humble to sit an beg for money.
You rarely see homeless people in Norway because you can't see if he/she's homeless. They don't look like the ones you see on TV you know.
Lutefisk is realy good... And walesteak is mayby the best we have in Norway
A lot of Norwegians don't like Lutefisk either...
Norway is amazing but about public transportation away from cities really need to improve. If you compare for eg Switzerland, where there are public transportation even at the top of the mountains..
