    Here’s the third lesson in my “Fastest Way To Get Faster” series. Get ready to feel the burn! The concept of this exercise is actually fairly simple, but the benefits I’ve noticed in my playing by practicing this are huge.
    We’ll be playing 2 bars of single strokes, then double strokes, and finally the single paradiddle all in 16th notes. Try to make your transitions so smooth you can’t even tell you’re switching rudiments! As you can see in the video - it’s not easy.
    Play each exercise individually for 5 minutes, then play them in sequence for 15 minutes.

    Jared, we generally need more lessons from you dude! The invitations of other drummers are good yes, but you are what make Drumeo in our eyes and we need to see more of you so that those of us who are trash (like myself) can aspire to be alot better by looking at someone we can relate with (you). As good as he is, I can't relate with Eric Moore for instance.

      Ali LovesDrums instead of playing hi-hat grooves with the right hand and left on snare, switch them. Thats what I do and it is fun to experiment because it opens the play book more. Some people play like that anyway but if you don't, you should try and switch it up

    • @alibardgett1493
      @alibardgett1493 7 років тому

      Thanks, hadn't thought of that but I'll try it. I sometimes switch out of necessity and when that happens, I'm always aware of it feeling awkward.

    • @chaoscal7399
      @chaoscal7399 7 років тому

      Ali LovesDrums yeah, it is very awkward but if you get used to it, you have a wide variety around the kit. It takes ages to get used to tho but don't give up ;)

    That's awesome! Thanks Jared! One thing I noticed from your videos and that I actually started doing is using a metronome! It helps me be more fluid and can build up my speed. There's good ones you can download as an app! Highly recommended.

    Nice! I'll point my students to this video for sure!
    Side note: it sounds like your left hand is hitting away from the center (ring-y sound) while your right hand is dead center (tight crisp sound). Is this on purpose to illustrate the sticking differences between the 3 Rudiments?

    A lot of people say when playing your single stroke roll, your LH and RH strokes are supposed to sound the same, is it true? It seems impossible to do..

    • @Razaro.
      @Razaro. 7 років тому

      JJ 86 They are supposed to sound the same but it is really tricky. Just spend lots of time practising it and strengthening your non-dominant hand.

    • @JawJX
      @JawJX 7 років тому

      lGREENEGGSANDSAMl Hmm but it seems to be impossible to do since both hands are so different, even when using the same strength or same sticks or the same angle you hold it...

  • @ahhhba

    Just as in my own playing I've always been able to hear the transitions, but I still wonder what exactly is the goal of this type of exercise? I rarely, if ever, play rolls as a paradiddle. Certainly this looks important for muscle memory training, flexibility, and stamina. But what else?

  • @paulcope834

    Hye Jared or anyone's that already experienced moment of the truth.
    If I may ask, how long would it really take to be able to play even that fast tempo that you're playing? How many hours per day at least need to be spend as a daily routines toward the goals. Just wondering and still practicing.
    Hope anybody be able to share their experienced . Even just a rough estimation of timeline would much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance

      @ΣοφοκλήςΓκέκας 7 років тому +1

      Fadel Aziz It's not only about hours... sometimes no matter how much you practice something to improve your technique you'll notice that nothing is going to change... the "key" to play fast is to practise your mechanisms right...(ex. mechanism= your whole motion on Moeller ... etc. ) if you play on really slow tempos you'll manage to find your mistakes and improve them... furthermore different people have differents needs... someone may have to work twice as you in order to have the same result or the opposite... you will find out how many hours you need... (3 hours per day I think it's great if you want to improve but not that many too) ... Have fun practising and playing music!! (** ofc if you don't push yourself to high tempos you won't play fast... but first play slow to get everything done right... )

      Σοφοκλής Γκέκας I'm so thankful with your explanations and ex. And I'm really glad that there's still a great and wonderful human beings like you out there. FYI , I only focus on rudiments technique to play it right and to build a faster wrist also fingering techniques. How can I work on this things and be able to communicate with you in the future . Thanks so much for the offer. Really appreciate it. Thank you in advance 🤘🏼

  • @NympoGaming

    You cannot make it sound all the same. There's an explanation that has to do with the sound waves and the way they travel, deflect and maybe the force you apply, but I'm not a physicist so I may not give you the best explanation. Maybe if played fast enough it will give us the impression it's a one single rudiment, and by fast I mean - impossibly fast for a human being, which is borderland stupid :D

    I see you aren't using much finger control and instead are using lots of wrist. Is that a conscious decision?

    • @richardaaron4454
      @richardaaron4454 7 років тому +2

      If he was using only his fingers it wouldn't called forearm crusher... Your wrists build your forearms.

    • @kiltymacbagpipe
      @kiltymacbagpipe 7 років тому

      Good point.

    • @richardaaron4454
      @richardaaron4454 7 років тому +1

      That being said, pretty much every great drummer uses both wrists and fingers. From what I've learned fingers actually can get you going faster especially incorporating your third fingers, you see a lot of those extreme drummers using almost all fingers when doing rolls and blast beats.

    • @travisostbye7732
      @travisostbye7732 7 років тому

      Your fingers rely on muscle groups on the palm side of your forearm. wrist rely on both the top and bottom of your forearm.

    • @richardaaron4454
      @richardaaron4454 7 років тому +1

      Yeah that sounds about right. He is using both wrists and fingers in the video just more wrists.
