True. Depends on your goals though. If you're looking to actually use this as a fill or something then sure, "cheat" to make it sound right. If you're using it as a practice though then that seems counterintuitive, if you cut corners you won't improve on the things that are tripping you up.
i play drums right handed but lead with my left hand so floor tom to snare is the easiest one for me. lol. I guess i like to lead with my left because im left handed.
Hey Jared! Nice videos, cool material dude! I´ve been practicing this series in P4 practice pad and when have chance to check in my drums I can say it works! I´ve got a tip to help in the traffic jam... Lead with your left, you´ll be exercising 2 for 1... Best drumming wishes everyone!!
you could expand upon this idea by throwing in some odd numbers as well: in this video it was grouped all by even numbers 2,4,6,8 but how about doing odds? you could do 3,5,7,9 and create a whole new practice idea
Why is it that with most drumset notation, the snare occupies the 2nd space on the staff rather than the first? It's the highest-sounding drum on the kit, therefore in my mind it should be the highest position on the staff, too. I'd put cymbals up top, then snare, then toms, and finally kick at the bottom. Makes it weird when you have a fill that goes down the drums, but when you see the notation, it appears to start in the mid-range, then goes up high again before working its way down.
avisupchurch: Drum kit notation isn't just arranged by pitch but also physical set up. Your high tom is usually physically set up higher than the snare drum so is notated that way. It's the same reason the hi hat foot is notated at the bottom of the stave :-)
Drumeo, do you guys recommend us do each exercise you post? Because it seems each exercise is about 30 mins, so doing all 4 posted so far would be 2 hrs a day just on practicing speed
André-Michel Goulet he said practice each pattern for 5 mins (4 patterns, so 20 mins) then in sequence for 10 minutes (so altogether 30). The last 3 videos all add up to 30 mins too so that's why I'm asking. Not talking about the specific exercises in the video I meant all the videos together. Unless I'm misunderstanding.
You're your own drummer, figure out what works for yourself. If you are specifically trying to get faster right now then two (or more) hours a day on speed exercises isn't unreasonable, if that gets in the way of what you actually want to work on then don't do it just because a youtube video told you to.
"Play drums, lose weight, be healthy". That's drumeo's next t-shirt.
R.I.P. Gene Hoglan
He's alive..
Robert Cristian alive and 160lbs slimmer.
I would buy that T-shirt.
@@kiltymacbagpipe And this goes on the next t-shirt...
Wow !! Thanks Drumeo! Awesome stuff !! Already started practicing..
Floor tom --> snare is the hardest part ...
Neander104
It always is :(
You can make it easier by just playing the last note (with your left/non-lead hand) on the snare. Kind of cheating, I guess, but it helps.

Great lesson Jared! Simple stuff helps me with more complex... stuff.
Outstanding exercise routine, simple and effective
first thing that comes to my mind while I listen to this lesson (especially when played in groups of 6 and 8) is KREATOR Pleasure To Kill :D

Is there a special technique to play faster with your hands around the toms? I'd like to learn that, because I am by far not so fast as you.
Can we please get a live stream about "post rock drumming"?
Jarred has a deal w/Paiste? Good for him if so. Ya can tell he puts a lot of time in.
Are those the normal Evans 360?
Masters oficina Masters drumeo y ahora con subtitulos son geniales gracias

Is better than any exercise 👍
Yoga for lazy one 😅
Lovely
Great!
Jared! Any tips to deal with the traffic jam? Do you move left hand away very quickly or do you go across with your right?
Which tempo are you using. Would you show us with the logo?
Math is best matter!! rsrs...great exercises!
So basically the rhythm scale moved around the kit... noice 👌
Hey Jared good workout for any level and I'm enjoying it. Could you do sessions on other rudiments around the kit? Thanks Cheers Bruce :-)
Hi. Thx for the video! Quick question: do you use those exercices with you students as warm up or part of technique study?
That snare sounds yummy.

kpoohs He just said at the end spend about ten minutes each time on this one.
