Before my 2 kids turned 13 years old we did everything together. If I weeded they helped. When I cooked or baked they helped. When I prepared for a celebration or holiday they helped with the prep work. When my oldest, my son, turned 13 I felt he was ready to take on responsibilities on his own. He cooked dinner one night a week, did his own laundry, took care of his room and was assigned his own chores for cleaning the house while my daughter continued helping me. Once she turned 13 we began a rotating system for everything except their rooms and their laundry. This is when I included their dad too. We each had to cook one night, they had to come to me with a menu plan/list so I could get the necessary ingredients. We rotated setting the table, clearing including putting away left overs and washing dishes. Then one night was take out, like pizza, one night a crock pot or one dish meal which I took on, and the final one was leftovers. The house cleaning chores rotated from week to week too. At 13 they both got an allowance. If they needed extra money for something I had a separate chore chart (like weeding the gardens, watering the plants, washing out trash cans, washing the car, raking, snow shovel the walk ways, power washing the house, washing windows, etc.) with a dollar amount next to each task that they could earn. I also wanted them independent so through their growing years we showed them things like changing a tire, sewing a hem and button, cleaning a filter in various appliances, calling to make appointments, budgeting, writing checks and tithing, making small wood projects (like shelves, molding, baseboards and the like) and completing minor repairs. Every Sunday was craft day where we tried many different things like making dream catchers, painting bird houses, or frames, learned to make jewelry, crochet scarfs (they used many of these treasures as gifts) and even practiced sign language and Spanish. They are now 40 and 38 years old. My son is a carpenter and my daughter is a CNA. I am so proud of them and happy with how I raised them.
Teaching children to be disciplined, competent, successful adults. WHAT A CONCEPT! I love that they can do it in whatever order they want, giving them a sense of control and independence. I wish my parents had done this! I would have been much better prepared for adulthood.
I don’t have kids but I’ve followed you on UA-cam for almost 5 years since I was 17. You’ve kept me out of debt and I’m completely great full for your advice and tips. You have a beautiful family 💙
Girl, you are beyond. The fact that your children are learning responsibility is wonderful, obviously. But the fact that they have the freedom to choose their work, learn, play times and activities....that is a skill that we all need as adults! What is the goal of raising a child? To produce a happy and healthy and helpful member of society. You are going to have 8 little adults that are gonna give you such blessings. Wow. I’m totally impressed. (BTW I don’t have or want to have kids but I so appreciate parents that are intentional with their parenting).
Oh my gosh! You were just BORN to do this... To be a mom to thousands or millions by teaching parents how to parent. AMAZING. Everyone in my family has a bunch of kids and they are well behaved but this just tops everything I've ever been taught. The best motivation is self motivation so you're instilling the basic components in them that are required to reach goals so they can set their own later in life and know how to actually accomplish them!!
Would love a more detailed video for a 3 year old version of the clip board and how to keep them entertained all day and following this system! Please please please!!! Great video btw!
We are all about digital systems, but sometimes kids just need something they can touch and mark off! You are the QUEEN of motivating your kids to improve instead of just telling them.
Impressive that you effortlessly make organization attractive and manageable. Many of the moms who bring their kids to see me ask for tips like this! Thanks for sharing. Your friendly, neighborhood, child psychiatrist!
Love that you had hutch and Pryia help with this video. You can see that hitch really understands why you’re doing things that you do. Hutch knows that learning unique things would be important and why cooking day is important.
Another idea: I’d love to see a DITL regarding your kids’ cooking days. I’d love to see what they choose to cook to get ideas of how to implement this, and how it goes throughout the day.
The clipboard system has changed our lives!!! My girls have a morning checklist and a night checklist. We also adopted your chore sticks! My girls draw 2 chore sticks in the morning, and then that evening, we set a timer, and as a family, focus on a zone in the house. It’s been so nice! My kids even get onto ME when we don’t make our bed now 😂.
Priya and Hutch are such a credit to you. Nicely spoken and well mannered. You both did such a good job speaking to all of us and helping our children to be more productive. Thank you. I hope helping all of us earned you some extra fun time....right mama.
I applaud you for not raising children to be children. You’re raising your children to become productive members of society and adults you’ll actually want to hang out with by choice and other people will too! It’s awesome that your kids can intelligently explain the system without you prompting them. Good job!! And I’m using the clipboard system for myself!!!
First sentence was definitely worded incorrectly. Kids should be kids, and get that opportunity to enjoy their childhood. Yeah I do agree that they should also be practicing to become productive and contributing adults someday.
I've been thinking about family vlogging yt channels, and if they all exploit their kids. A few came to mind, like yours, that I've never had any icky feelings about. I think you treat your kids with respect and cultivate independence. You also offer actually useful content by taking your momming very seriously.
To do lists is something I just CANT survive without!!! I love your videos and your amazing personality! You have totally shaped your kids into such responsible & mature individuals. My 5 year old son was very keen on watching Hutch's little explanation in this video. And that's what made me think of this request - Could you please make a full video (like a Day in the life of Hutch) him explaining & doing all his chores parallelly, as to how he gets it done (like from a kids perspective). I'm sure he will be an inspiration to MANY kids!!! It will be a great video for all mommies out there, to show an example to their little ones!
I love this. You're not asking too much, it's simple and realistic. They seem to knock it out real quick and then go do what they want so everyone stays happy!
As a daycare provider I am always looking for tips and tricks to get through the long summer with older students. I have incorporated this clipboard system with a chore chart and a schedule which includes STEAM and free play balanced. Screens only come out at three with good behavior or on wierd wacky days when we need to chill. I cannot express the ease my days are with these systems in place. Thank you!
MERCI pour toutes ces astuces... que chaque enfant, chaque adulte, devrait apprendre à faire. Vos idées et votre générosité sont remarquables, Jordan. MERCI infiniment.
With all of the successful recommendations for keeping kids on a schedule/busy/meals/etc. it would be interesting to see a video on the "fails". Like, we tried this system and ending up hating it, or this sounded like it was going to work great, but not for our family, etc.
I merged your clipboards and block system for my kids. I blocked out 4 time periods and put tasks in each one (including Norms, learning, exercise, Jobs/Chores). We could never keep up with a check list that needs to be actually checked off, and my kids are close enough in age that I created one list for all of us (I actually use it too and instead of learning I'll work on a project), laminated each section and put it on our main corkboard/dry erase calendar. So basically at these 4 times, whatever their doing is stopped and we focus on the list, once it's done you can do whatever you want. You're absolutely right (and genius) that it takes the responsibility off of me if they want to play video games and then I also don't feel like they've been lazy all day. Since I have only 2 kids I just made 2 weekly chore schedules (vacuum, trash, etc) and swap them on sundays. Sunday's is give me 1 dinner idea and usually they help me make that dinner. Our weakness - we are all night owls and wake up late.
I did Jordans productivity boot camp in May when it was free. One of the first things I implemented was the clipboard system. I have two - one for their chores and we keep it in page protectors on the fridge and the other set is for school (we homeschool) they keep on their binders in a page protector. IT HAS BEEN A GAME CHANGER. I didn’t realize how much brain space I was using up just trying to make sure that teeth are being brushed, beds are made, rooms clean, etc. Once I set up the clipboard system I literally felt a load lift from my shoulders. Again, I didn’t even know I was carrying it. My kids have loved checking off their boxes and now I don’t have to tell them throughout the day what to do - they know both chores and school.
We’ve been doing this for a few years but I’ve added several things to my kids’ lists since watching your last video about this! They honestly haven’t been finishing them lately but I don’t mind because that means they just don’t care as much about screen time as they used to! They get too caught up in reading most days and don’t end up finishing...not a bad problem to have!
Real Life Weavers, we aren't into electronics and video games much here so that isn't a draw for my kids either. Most of my kids have been such avid readers that they would happily just read all day long so I've actually had to say that they needed to get their jobs done before they can read! LOL! A good problem to have! 😂
Ok. I was addicted to reading when I was a kid. It turned out to be a massive problem. Caused alot of issues. Reading was the original smart phone. Just be careful it doesn't turn into an unhealthy obsession.
Honestly your advice is the only advice that actually works and is translatable to my own family. I only have 3 children but what you do works SOOOO well. A million thank yous. 😊xx
Excellent. I had four kids and always provided organisation for them. They are responsible educated adults, and only make reference here in that, the organised activity did teach them personal accountability and motivation. Well done! Awesome to see your family being nurtured this way.
Thank you for including your kids in this video! My 4 yr old loved watching them talk and it made her even that much MORE interested in having her own clipboard!
Jordan you might not be the average mom any more but you come from accomplishing awesome things and that is why you are wjere you are at now. Thank you for making your odeas public for all to know.
Oh Jordan, I’m so glad you posted this when you did. I was getting in such a rut with my 5 year old who wakes up just wanting screen time. I know he’s been on it too much, and has a bad attitude, but I just didn’t know what to do about it. Definitely going to give this a try! I think I’ve been lazy and slightly depressed lately with everything going on, but this time is a gift and I can make it better! Thanks for these videos!
Productivity boot camp helped change our home since covid. This has been so helpful as a working mom and so kids stay busy. The kids love checking off their box and there has been way less fighting with me and each other.
I love the clipboard system. When you have a large family it’s a must. I’m one of 15 children. My mother was amazing. She was the queen of Excell before it was a thing. All our chores were written down and planned out each week. We didn’t have “screen” time but we couldn’t wait to go outside to play. I wish I would have had you in my life when my kids were young. The meal helpers is a wonderful idea. I have such a hard time deciding what to make. My son is 23 and doesn’t know how to cook. Lol
This is pretty much what I've done with all of my kids. My three oldest are now grown and on their own, the oldest is 29, two still at home. Sometimes we've used clipboards and sometimes we've used binders. I do like the clipboards better. I have a clipboard for myself too along with my planner. It's a great system! I couldn't stand having to run through my mind and figure out what each kid needed to do and ask them over and over what they had finished. I loved how handing it off to them just took that all off of me and helped them to be more responsible. I used to draw pictures before my computer days and once I started using the little clip art pictures for my pre readers, they begged me to go back to drawing pictures for them. They weren't much more than stick figures! LOL! I am sure you sharing this system is going to help so many people!!
This video was GREAT because my son sat and listened. My son is used to me watching your videos but THIS video he was SOOO happy to listen to your kid's talk. I love that he says he wants to "do the book like the big boy in that video" My son is 7 so anyone older than him is big and anyone younger is a baby lol. Thanks for this!! I hope the little ones are in more videos so my son will watch. haha
I recently just stumbled across your videos, and I love them so much!!! They are so helpful and inspiring! You have lots of great ideas! I grew up in a family of 11 and my husband from a family of 10. If the Lord sees fit to bless us with children, we plan on having a big family as well! We have 2 kiddos right now. A 2 yr old and a 3 month old! I’m definitely wanting to implement some of the things you do with your children! Your family seems so sweet! I know your not perfect, but the Lord has definitely blessed you guys! Thanks for sharing your gifts and talents with us all! 😊❤️
Wow your raising some extremely responsible kids. Wish I had something like this in place when my kids were young. I have 2 teens in the house almost 15 and 16. I'm going to try something like this thanks
I just started this with my 3 year old. He enjoyed helping me color pictures of what he has to do each day before screens. We are excited, and maybe we can get in some better habits! Also the block schedule for kids is genius!
Gauri Bij I’m 10 years older than Jordan and she’s sorting my life out too! 🤣🤣 These tips are great for adults too. I don’t have kids but I have lots of things I want to do and somehow don’t get to. The detailed planner idea is great and the reminder to take responsibility for your downtime
Great system👍 I admire YOUR consequence as a mother that you keep an eye on everything and teach it to the children with fun and energy🌱🌳. You are a great role model for your children and other mothers💎. God bless you and your family.🇵🇱 Greetings from Poland💐 Monika
Since working from home - spreading my hours over 5 days, with 2 young children, block scheduling has changed me life! Juggling work/school work/housework has become much more manageable!
Found this video on accident while looking at planner videos! As a homeschooling mom, this is awesome! Thank you for sharing your smarts with the world. Your kids are so cute!!
Awww, sweet Joss. 😍 I also may be watching this with headphones in while nursing my own sweet March baby to sleep. 😄.... HOW DID U KNOW I NEEDED THIS VIDEO TODAY??!!?? Seriously....told my kids yesterday we're restarting our chore charts cuz we've definitely been slacking in that department...and my 8 yr old has been bugging me all morning what chores to add onto popsicle sticks for extra dough. I LOVE the idea of the block schedule for the older kids with their own planners! Totally gonna be incorporating that within the year, for sure! Thanks for the great video today!
I used this last summer for the kids that I nanny! It worked SO well and before we did that it was rough for me to get them to do some productive things! We added do something creative, read, play outside. It was great!
Also love that you’re using programs like prodigy and coding. Utilizing these to give them more skills and practice in the summer is so great for mental stimulation!
I have done this with my kids, they are a lot older than yours and more reluctant to complete them, think I will get them involved more with the planning after watching this. Mine are 15 & 20. You have a lovely family x
You’re the BEST!!! Thank you thank you for sharing this system and explaining how it works for your family. I have had a heck of a time trying to come up with chore charts for each of my kids. I’m so tired of the constant nagging and extra work on my part just to get them to do the bare minimum! You’re seriously my hero.
Love it! I have a 2.5 year old and a 9month old...ideas for the younger ones would be awesome! I'm amazed at your insight I to helping your children become self sufficient. I get my toddler help where he can...and he loves it.
I'm pregnant with my first baby and my husband and I want at least a few kids, so these kind of videos are so inspiring! I'm looking forward to implementing stuff like this to not only help myself out around the house but to teach them life skills that I wish I knew more about growing up. Thanks for the wonderful ideas ☺️
I love the cooking day for each child. I never had to cook growing up and always ate out in college. after college i was at loss, it took me a while to get the hang of preparing food
This is so similar to what I did with my son and daughter! I've loved having the kids take responsibility for their chores, etc. - (and even now with the grands taking responsibility for their learning). It works (that's the best part).
I LOVE the idea of letting them CHOOSE their W.S.P plans!! Autonomy within the limits. 🙌🏽 I’m also happy that I have the same list of daily activities for my kiddos. I have a terrible time keeping up with timeliness and their activities at home so I will be implementing these planner ideas!
This is outstanding !!! I just took in an 8-year-old girl (relative) in December. My older daughter is 23 so it is culture shock. This is gonna be awesome!!!!
Anytime I am not feeling motivated or up to do anything all I have to do is watch one of your videos and I am instantly motivated so I want to thank you for that. you have a beautiful family and you are a wonderful mama😀
Thanks for ALL of your content...block scheduling and financial tips you share, have really shifted things for me. Day to day, and long term. Much gratitude to you for making this available and being so relatable.
I have just a doughter 5 month old ... but when in will have more kids i will use all of your routines and your roles ... i think you have the best system ever !! Big fan 😍
Simply Amazing! As a teacher and a mum of 3 I totally agree with you. Kids need motivation to keep learning and those life skills are so important at every age. Hutch and Priya are really sensible and mature for theie age🥰
Ok great vid and all but Hutch warmed my heart so much! I love how he seemed excited to explain and stayed in the background for a while like he was proud of what you’re explaining. Such a cutie!
I don't have kids, I don't even live in USA, but i've been following you since the beginning, I love how you organise your whole life, and as a student budgeting tips are so helpful, and block system is my best friend since you first time talked about that!! Really appreciate that you are here on YT, please keep going! You're doing amazing job here ❤️
Girl!! 🤯 we sometimes look at kids as lil ppl who we have to always be over them. This is so freeing! And also make it so much fun to actually be part of the family! Family meeting at my house tonight, immediately, things are about to change lol Thank you for sharing!!
This is so helpful. I get overwhelmed thinking about making myself a block schedule and do that thing where I then see EVERYTHING ELSE that needs to get done. Breaking it down at a kid level gave me so much insight for doing it for myself!
I was planning to watch videos for a few hours on starting a new chore/to-do system. Found every single thing I need in this one video; you covered it all. Thank you for sharing all of this and so much detail down to what type of markers to get.
wow love it. needed something like this. because my kids were getting tired of the same old daily schedule and i was getting tired of having to dictate each hour of the day to them also while trying to work from home.you just saved a life. thank you.
Hi Jordan Your video is a savious , has really taken me out of a low. After birth of second one , toddler had gone off track too much ipad. Watched this video many times and adjusted the lists, sooo much better and structured now. 🙏 Thanks a lot
Hutch is such a mini Bubba. You’ve taught me so many tricks since I’ve found your channel. I’ve gotten better at grocery shopping, cooking, scheduling, and getting my kids to help out. You’re the best!! ❤️🏆❤️
I absolutely love this idea! I remember when you came out with your first clipboard video, I went and bought clipboards and then never followed through... wompppp. I'm a single Mom of 3 kids who are all in different developmental phases (2, 7 and 13) and I really think this could help us- especially now that I am working from home and we're all there together all the time. Sometimes I feel like it's hard to implement ideas I see because rules at Dad's house are different, and I get a lot of push back... But I am determined to raise responsible, happy kids no matter what. Thanks again for sharing your amazing videos and ideas with us, Jordan! I have renewed ambition to make this happen!
Your previous block schedule has worked so well for us. My friends and family are impressed once they see our bulletin board w kids schedule and chores. Does keep me sane! Can you pls make a video of easy meals that kids ages 6+ can also help make together? Thanks so much!
I love the fact that you instill such good values in your children starting at a young age. This will set all of them up for major success in the future!
I would love to see a video of all the kids cooking days over a couple weeks. I think it would be great motivation for my kiddos to see. Thanks for another great video!
You gave me a fantastic idea, thank you so much! As a mom of one, wife and co-care-taker with my brother for our mom, it gives us structure to glide through the busy days and provide our 9-year-old some responsibilities. Really appreciate this! Also, congratulations on your babies!! God bless you guys always!
I have been wanting to do something like this and now here it is and on UA-cam! I can sit both boys down, 6 & 14 yrs old, and have Jordan explain new the rules. Thank you! I will be able to say, "I don't make the rules, I just make sure they are being followed. Ask Ms Jordan why you can only have so much screen time". LOL I am hoping to be able to home school in the fall and still work full time from home., so this will instill the schedule and will make things smoother in the fall. PS I watched the first ad in its entirety and for the first time may just purchase from an ad, after much research of course. But again, than you!

Good lord! I’m 26 and I’m BEGGING you to adopt me and teach me these things!
Sandy Lucas you was a real mvp 😁
Small world...we had 9 kids and also had a chore chart (separate from daily family chores) with an amount we were willing to pay.❤️
This is it! That's the type of education I want my future children to have.
this story is such an inspiration.
Teaching children to be disciplined, competent, successful adults. WHAT A CONCEPT!

I'm SO proud of you for staying out of debt! This is a HUGE accomplishment and you should be proud of yourself! Way to go! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Jordan Page, FunCheapOrFree thank you, that means a lot to me. You are very much appreciated 💙

I could cry. This video is about to change my life. And my family's life.
I definitely did NOT grow up like this. But I want to.

You are so right! Physically marking that task if is so motivational for them!
Hutch is Bubba’s mini!! ❤️
I just noticed that too, all the baby is out of him. No more chubby cheeks. He's a little dude now, and look just like his dad
I noticed that myself. He's grown so much lately.
Why do I feel like every single one of the kids looks just like Bubba 😂
Impressive that you effortlessly make organization attractive and manageable. Many of the moms who bring their kids to see me ask for tips like this! Thanks for sharing. Your friendly, neighborhood, child psychiatrist!

I'm subscribing to your channel! Great and helpful information.

Me too!,
i dont even have kids yet but i love watching these videos
Same here. I feel like I’m going to be the most equipped mom.
Me too!
@@AmbitiousHarley Girl we'll be ready AF

This does work well with preteens/teens. The kids know the expectations. It keeps me from being the bad guy. I LOVE it!
Jordan: “good for little kids and teens”
Me, 32 years old: “also for me”
Hannah Jane Thompson right?!
Same! I am creating my list today 🤦🏻♀️
lol
Funny, I was thinking the same thing!
This would help a ADHDer so much!!!

What great kids! Hutch is a natural on camera. Such a little Bubba.

Since I have only 2 kids I just made 2 weekly chore schedules (vacuum, trash, etc) and swap them on sundays. Sunday's is give me 1 dinner idea and usually they help me make that dinner. Our weakness - we are all night owls and wake up late.
Jordan Page is an amazing person she takes care of all of this kids with no problems
Such cute, polite kids! I have nevwr seen a better family, my God bless you all.
It really is a HUGE game changer! Glad it's working so well for you! 🙌🏻
How old are your kids? I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old. Wondering how this will work out with littles! Also Will the course be free again??
Aw the kids are so cute at the end holding up their clipboard proudly!
I know I 💚'd that. I was like Jordan: "let us see the kids in the back"!😀they were so exuberant & participating
I am in awe of the maturity of your two oldest kiddos. Good job mama. You’re raising wonderful children ♥️
I love that you are teaching your kids personal responsibility at such a young age!
What a beautiful example of how you love your family. Your kids are very very well loved and it shows. I am encouraged and motivated by you. 🙈💕
I am 14 and I literally did this for myself hahahaha
Good job! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Way to go!
I'm not going to say how old I am but when something is useful, it's useful 😀💖
Wow me too. During covid and the school year I used Jordan’s adult one
@@jordanpagecompany I love your channel! It's so motivating for me! My mom and I love your videos!
I LOVE the idea of dividing days into work, learn, free time. I don't even have kids but im going to add it to my life. Thanks
Productivity boot camp helped change our home since covid. This has been so helpful as a working mom and so kids stay busy. The kids love checking off their box and there has been way less fighting with me and each other.
How is your family so dang adorable?!
Lol
Great ideas. You are an awesome Mom. Wish I would have used this system 20yrs ago. Happy family happy life.
I have a house full of boys, and I was dying over Hutch- you can tell he’s such a gentleman and very capable. Good job Momma!!
Jordan your like my second mum honestly I’m string all these tips for when i finally have kids 😂
I can’t imagine life without to-do lists
They're the best!
Helen facts!
I pray all moms find Jordan’s channel. Soooo helpful!!!
I have done this with my kids, they are a lot older than yours and more reluctant to complete them, think I will get them involved more with the planning after watching this. Mine are 15 & 20. You have a lovely family x
Simply Piano has totally transformed my kids attitude towards practicing the piano! they love it. Before it was a really drag to get them to practice.
Every video I am just amazed at how well you & Bubba manage such a big family! And all the kids seem so happy to help out!
You are super mom!! Your son Hutch looks just like his dad ❤ God bless your big family!
Love it! I have a 2.5 year old and a 9month old...ideas for the younger ones would be awesome! I'm amazed at your insight I to helping your children become self sufficient. I get my toddler help where he can...and he loves it.
Love your block schedule for kids. My 8 year old wanted to do a bullet journal and I think this is the perfect way to get her started.
Your kids are such beautiful little humans.
Anytime I am not feeling motivated or up to do anything all I have to do is watch one of your videos and I am instantly motivated so I want to thank you for that. you have a beautiful family and you are a wonderful mama😀
😭 Thank you so much for sharing this!
Big fan 😍
I Love seeing your kids and having them share their tasks, ideas, etc... I would love to see them show off their gifts and talents more! Great Job!
Your channel's literally made me start a *Personal* *Finance* channel here on UA-cam. Thanks for the motivation *Jordan*
Family meeting at my house tonight, immediately, things are about to change lol
Thank you for sharing!!
This is so helpful. I get overwhelmed thinking about making myself a block schedule and do that thing where I then see EVERYTHING ELSE that needs to get done. Breaking it down at a kid level gave me so much insight for doing it for myself!
You are so amazing, between productivity bootcamp and the clipboard and chore sticks life has gotten so much easier
I was planning to watch videos for a few hours on starting a new chore/to-do system. Found every single thing I need in this one video; you covered it all. Thank you for sharing all of this and so much detail down to what type of markers to get.
wow love it. needed something like this. because my kids were getting tired of the same old daily schedule and i was getting tired of having to dictate each hour of the day to them also while trying to work from home.you just saved a life. thank you.
LOVE hearing your kiddos explain things!!!
I can't wait to hear the story about the puppy!
🥰 We are in LOVE with that little guy!
Hi Jordan
Your video is a savious , has really taken me out of a low. After birth of second one , toddler had gone off track too much ipad. Watched this video many times and adjusted the lists, sooo much better and structured now. 🙏
Thanks a lot
Your kids are adorable - they did a good job explaining everything - “keeps me on track” love that!
Mama you rock. I fund you video by luck. My kids are grown but I love to watch your videos.
