@@GamingAndRCs Owning a company doesn't mean everything at the company is interchangeable with your own personal items. There are tax reasons and such for this.
Intel Extreme Tech upgrade is the last sponsored content I would expect to get cancelled. It isn’t often the audience love sponsored content. As someone who also has a very big torso I’m all for longer shirts. I hate how many barely reach my pants and I accidentally show belly.
For the shirts thing, it's how the size is more of a suggestion than an actual metric. One shirt will go all the way to your thighs and another will barely reach your belt and they will both be the same size on the label. Guess if it counts as one size in one sweatshop then it's that size, regardless of its actual size.
Did you see their latest earnings? Intel is busy cutting costs and doing damage control LMAO. This is good and makes LTT a bit more credible since their aren't as close with Intel now. Seriously, that alone made all their efforts with ARC and any pro-intel move just come across as a shill.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the decision to pull out had nothing to do with content itself - like you said those videos are fantastic and usually some of the most-watched on LTT. Could just be some accountants at Intel reallocating budgets and putting less focus on marketing in general.
I think I just shed a tear for Brandon. I'll miss his behind the camera digs at Linus. He was a part of the LTT furniture. It's touching how Linus and Luke reacted. Good Luck Brandon wherever you travel.
@@1Grainer1 would be shite. apple also couldnt afford and apple have literally just been revealed as selling kids in africa. likely to go bankrupt any day
That Bing demo was actually legitimately impressive. We are now living in a timeline where Google could actually have legitimate competition from Bing and i'm here for it.
inb4 Google makes something similar and overshadows Bing once again. Can't sway the market share that easily with just one product innovation, you gotta make a huge and measurable impact to ALL end users similar to what AMD did in the CPU market. But who knows, when it goes public we'll see how much it matters.
Hey, I feel compelled to highlight that the answer that chat-bot gives at 44:00 is factually WRONG. It gives the illusion that it is right, but, do the calculation yourself. Take the trunk-size: 104.14 * 96.52 * 83.82 = ~840000 cubic centimeters which in turn is ~840 liters! The answer cites 651 liters. The conversions are all wrong. This is a the biggest issue with this technology. It gives the illusion of accuracy, and maybe gives you a good rationale, but the content can all be very very wrong... As someone working professionally in the area of AI, I feel a little bit frustrated by this superficial analysis on how the tech works and what the implications are, tbh... the tech is a good _indexer_ for information, it is not good in producing (re-)information because it distorts it!
@@MrRecorder1 a couple of things: firstly, you seem to assume that bing calculated the volume from the dimensions, which to me seems wrong. It appears it just cited it's sources at this step. Since it only shows a short link and not the full one, it would be painful to check if that source has these values but that could be the case. You are also calculating the volume of a perfect cuboid, which the trunk obviously is not. All the actual calculations from bing are, while rounded, pretty much correct I believe. Now the source on the trunk dimensions could be bad, but the answer seems perfectly reasonable otherwise I'd say.
Just gotta say, this is one of my favorite WAN shows! From start to finish it was incredible, informative, hilarious, jaw dropping with the Bing segment and everything else. SO GOOD!!
@@hsavov I never liked those much. But I understand people loved it. I much prefer the Extreme Tech Upgrade, getting to know the staff more and making the upgrades is such a nice thing to watch!
The AI, watching the WAN show live: "Uh oh we're freaking these humans out as they're searching. We need to give them some dumb or wrong results to calm them down and not make them feel endangered"
Ive tried using it to research auto parts stuff. The results were terrible. They look good on a surface level, but then you realize the answers aren't actually useful. It'll tell you the basics, then, at best, gloss over anything remotely technical.
@@ThugShakers4Christ AI gives answers as well as you can ask it questions, if it's giving you terrible results then you are asking terrible questions. This is one of the things most people using AI don't seem to want to understand, sometimes you have to make it give you knowledge. The out-of-this World AI pictures you see, some have A4 worth of explanations written for the AI. If you use ChatGPT, it even has multiple personalities that you can change with commands that give you different answers.
@@ThugShakers4Christ>anything remotely technical i feel like in due time, it'll improve in that regard. the bing integration already seems to have massively improved its capabilities, and that was a year within launch. microsoft most certainly has the budget and resources to throw at improving this thing, so if they wanted to, i'm sure they could make it much more powerful
@@hiddendrifts the biggest hurdles it will need to deal with are things that are not standardized or easily quantifiable. In approaching a problem, identifying the solution is just the first step. Then, you need to figure out what resources are available, why the stakeholders may not be willing to use those resources, and how to get them to use those resources to reach an acceptable outcome. It's those difficult parts that I doubt AI will ever be able to really handle. It's just a tool to help us get to the hard parts faster.
I loved Intel Extreme Upgrade, it's probably one of my favourite series because it combines practical PC building stuff with a little behind the scenes in terms of learning a little bit more about LMG staff. Super thrilled to see it continue under a new name and sponsor. Really looking forward to the new/continuation/revised series with AMD!
There is no end to your surprises on the show and your ability to create amazing content that the audience loves to watch.!! I am glad you have had a new sponsor for the show as the content is amazing to watch. I love that you stand up for what's great or what's not and stand by what you say.
Brandon's leaving totally caught me unaware. Very sad news and the end of a real era. I am quite certain the split was amicable but I do wonder if anyone knows the verifiable reason[s] why Brandon decided to leave. This move was inevitable but I am sad all the same and do believe there was zero drama, though many sad faces all around at LTT.
A lot of people just want to do a career change after so many years of doing the same thing. There’s so much to see and do in the world that it can see wasteful to spend your entire life never leaving your comfort zone.
Echoing the other guy, I don’t know a single person who’s been at the same company 8+ years and is happy. I’m sure they exist but they are rare in my experience.
Have to admit intel extreme tech upgrade is one of my favorite segments on the channel. Just checked and I've already watched all of them. Usually I'm on it as soon as they are released.
Linus looks absolutely floored when trying out the new AI powered Bing. It’s cool to see him that speechless and almost punch drunk. I can’t wait to try it myself.
It looks and sounds super cool, and I have no doubts that it will be, however there's a point Luke made that was one of my immediate concerns - How many people are going to use this and just assume that everything it is giving you is absolute fact? There's already a concerning number of people who don't understand that they need to be skeptical of internet search results, and I get the sense that this is just going to make that issue worse. I guess we'll see, but I do hope I'm wrong.
@@ugrena7419 100% agreed. This was my biggest takeaway from this episode, considering how it made a stellar impression, and then it seemed hit or miss later.
"Find yourself a spouse that spends your money like Luke spends mine" has got to be some of the best advice I've ever heard from Linus and is exactly what I'm looking for already 😂
A spouse should make their own money, and the pitch in an equal percentage of income to pay for common expenses like shelter, food and utilities. But If my partner, (who makes less than me, yet seems like she always has a bunch of "throwing away money"), assumed me being a provider, (not it being a necessity or something), the relationship would nosedive pretty soon. Find someone who are a team-player and a partner in all things and focus on consensus; that strategy have worked for ten years now :-)
@@frankhaugen nah I have no issues with being a real man and providing for my family while my wife takes care of the house and children. I make more than enough to live comfortably like that.
@@clintk4691 The way I see it, my job should pay the bills and be used for emergencies and maintenance. If my wife wants to work after the kids start school, that's fun money for the family or recreational activities for the kids. So if she wants to work part-time while the kids are at school that's fine.
@@LastKnight0727 I have no faith in the public school system and would prefer to home school children. If she wants to work when they move out. So be it, more money for the household but I'm not having other people raise my children. Be it daycare or public school.
@@clintk4691 @Clint K "I have no issues being a real man", "I have no faith in the public school system and would prefer to home school my kids"... I have a lot of really rude things I could say given the foot you have put forward here, but I'll just give you a little scoop of measured feedback. I don't know what country you live in, but one thing is pretty universal regardless of what country we are talking about. There is a lot more to school than the curriculum, and home schooled kids miss out almost entirely on that. Many are emotionally, and socially stunted (for maybe the rest of their lives) as a result. That isn't a winning place to be in many career fields, or you know just for having a fulfilling life. Moreover, the whole being a real man thing... yikes. There are a lot of women who are wonderful people and incredible life partners that I think you will find you will alienate completely if that is how you view masculinity. Many women don't want to be entirely income reliant, and that dynamic in a relationship is probably going to result in some less than wonderful outcomes. Either the person is fine being reliant, and will take full advantage of the situation, they don't like being reliant and it breeds contempt, or you find a partner that is uh... let's say... somewhat lacking in personal opinions and autonomy. I don't know about you, but none of those seem like good partners. I also think you do yourself a disservice if that's how you view masculinity. Things happen in life, and if something outside of your control were to happen to cause you to stop being a sufficient bread winner, I don't think your mental health would cope very well with that situation, and I worry about how that would not only impact your quality of life, but the quality of life of people around you. You never know what could happen, and if you define yourself through masculinity that you perceive as being a bread winner... man that'd be a dark place to live your life. Anyway, have a good one. I hope some of that comes through in a positive way.
New series idea: jank to dank: Make some jank build/solution. Dank it up with some cool custom machined and aesthetic solution. Kind of like "x levels of". It'd be be SO satisfying and fun to watch.
I love this idea!!!!! Ngl tho Alex tends to also be involved in the jank - I'm sure he can also do the dank but idk if that's the most efficient use of his time for views
Just wanted to say that having Linus' and Luke's minds blown over the Chat GPT thing was some of the best time I've had on WAN show. It is not often that they are so flabbergasted. This was so much fun. Thank you for all the positivity. I can't remember having so much unadulterated fun just watching people speak.
As it is a Microsoft product, I would hand search the Internet rather than use it. I will sit there plucking in IP addresses if that is the only alternative.
I switched to Bing and Edge after watching this live a month ago and I'm still blown away by the chat function. The other day I was looking for brake parts for my dad's car and it was like I called Autozone or O'Reilly's it mentioned the difference between the trim levels of his car for brake parts. Then it brought up manuals and videos about how to do the work.
The built-in Bing ChatGPT button on Edge is reaalllyy tempting me on fully switching over to Edge. It's incredibly useful and way beyond the capabilities of any other browser.
@@saulgoodman2018 Linus has worked closely with Brandon for a decade. During that period, he has probably spent more time with Brandon than anyone other than Yvonne, his kids, and Luke. The end of that relationship is a pretty good reason to be emotional.
@@saulgoodman2018 do you not understand how human relationships work? When people are used to being around one another a lot when their relationship is healthy and good and then they’re suddenly apart it’s sad. Your brain isn’t used to not having them there and has to get used to them being away from you. Have you never had someone you care about move?
Uuuhh, I feared tech upgrade was over, but this is actually awesome! I REAAAALLY want to see Dan spend the money, it's gonna be awesome! I'm also really curious about Yvonne's episode. It'll be great. :)
I'm rewatching and catching the question on what to bring back in time. I've been reading a 1939 encyclopedia and it is a wealth of practical knowledge. The best hand sewing guide for repair or making new cloths I've seen. Great practical guide for both steam and electric power. First aid is lacking a bit though compared to what is taught today.
Linus, I’m glad you’re so candid on WAN show. While I enjoy tech, I’m an owner of a not-so-small business that’s grown quite a bit in recent years, and I’ve taken more than a few concepts from you here.
IXTU is one of the few "people flexing expensive gear" promo style videos I've enjoyed because there's always fun and interesting stories about the people receiving the update. That personal bit makes it fun. The tech in general I didn't really care about honestly 😅
I watch the Wan show (pinned tab) through over the course of the week and hadn't gotten around to finishing last weeks till today. I will say, the $6,900 CAD is $5,153 USD so it's a slightly larger budget than before but still 100% worth it.
For the 16th cenury item, I think a very high quaity microscope is the best answer. Germ theory, metallurgy, etc would get a HUGE kick start. It wouldn't really wear out, so it has a lot more staying power than something like a laptop. And it's easily replicable.
I usually just watch WAN on my phone here and there through the week, but this Bing segment was so wholesome that I just sat on the couch and watched through it on my TV
I am not at all into computers or tech or gaming or really any of the stuff but I loved the Intel upgrade videos, they were awesome! My favourite was Linus getting prankd by $4000 in Starbucks 😂
The Intel upgrade videos and Asus upgrade videos have been some of my favorites. I've watched Madison's video a few times. It's great seeing Linus take shit lmao. Thanks Linus :)
I honestly could watch an entire wan show of them just playing around with the new gpt stuff, really funny stuff.

I've really been enjoying a lot of the longer wans that have been coming out recently. It usually means that there is something that makes my jaw drop.
This made me so sad I said to myself “I really hope another company picks this up” because these IETU’s are videos I can always rely on enjoying so it made me so happy hearing Linus say “BUT…”
I do wonder if, instead of recognising the logo, the AI simply knew that when asked questions like "Is there a matching x for y?" people tend to reply with things like "Yes they have the same logo". Or more simply: it saw "matching jacket" on the page, and at that point you can pretty safely bet they have the same logo, even without checking.
3:27:20 for the fading gold paint on the water bottles fading, I like to spray a light mist of fixative over any fade-able paint (or printed ink) Works like a charm and fixative is fairly cheap. Semi-gloss is the one I usually go with personally
@@Reploidx9 well, sure, you can do that if you don't care about it yellowing. Fixative is a protective coating for paint and ink to prevent smudging. There's gloss, semi-gloss and matte variations I mostly only use lacquer on indoor stuff which never touch direct sunlight. It also tends to crack unlike a fixative.
@@Reploidx9 one other suggestion is to use a polyurethane. Unlike lacquer which cracks and yellows, poly is a plastic which takes about a day to cure but is durable and water resistant
@@DavidAllen_0 In terms of resin? I've got a batch of the stuff that doesn't yellow and is UV resistant which I've been using for my dice. The GPT search is my and a bunch of other’s work at Microsoft research/Microsoft so I’m glad to see such a positive response. Even though MSR is a great research place, I’ve always been a bit bitter about everyone laughing about Bing. How the turn tables :)
You guys have done a great job! Unlike Google engineers that make stuff and get their projects shafted by Google on the regular, Microsoft creates a great suite of apps/products. People don't realize how much great work you guys do! I had no doubt that your implementation would be good, but it has blown everyone away. :) Great job!
Unfortunately I don’t think this comment will be seen, but I think it’s relevant and important. Many fans, like myself, don’t disclose to celebrities that we know who they are until later, it’s only to respect, that way you don’t think we’re only engaged because you’re famous. With what I do, I interact with well-known people for work, maybe I’ll start to disclose sooner, but that will close more doors.
1:55:58 Luke, I love you for that grin you gave Linus, when he went with the utmost furthest to explain, that he wants to satisfy the women in the audience, and then playing it off as an actual mishap. Was one of the realest moments I have seen on the Internet by far.
For long t-shirts, check out outdoor winter workwear. Many outdoor workers use them so your lower back doesn't go bare every time you stretch, crouch, bend over etc.
i love all the tech upgrades and can't wait to see this new era of AMD builds! as someone who's been burned by two different intel laptops and is planning on building an AMD machine once i get back from a long work trip, i'm super excited to see what everyone gets and how they arrange their spaces. also JUSTICE FOR LUKE! he should get a tech upgrade!
Honestly I'm surprised Intel funded Extreme Tech Upgrade this long, Intel is not gonna just do that forever lol. Super glad you guys are keeping it alive with AMD because I click on every single one.
I'm surprised Intel pulled out. Product placement like that with consistent views and positive reception is marketing gem. I wonder if this forecasts a decreased focus on consumer sector in upcoming years.

I absolutely lost my shit watching them react to Bing's chat bot. They're like a bunch of children who just got to play with a shiny new toy and they're metaphorically kicking the tires on it. So funny. This WAN show will go down in history as one of the most well-remembered because of the LTT Backpack-Tesla question. There are so many moments of pure and complete stunned silence.
I think the reason that Bing search was getting confused about the red logo LTT jacket was the product name of the Supreme jacket. 1:02:39 It's the "Logo Taping Track Jacket". I bet it made a not so obvious connection, as that was, in fact, an "LTT" jacket. Actually kindof mind-blowing that it would have been able to figure that out.
Absolutely crazy that it could be making a connection like that whereas it took us humans crowdsourcing it to how many people before someone could see it.
My dad also had an MG convertible. Came green, painted red. For as long as I can remember my friends and I have made the joke "No, the door is a door."
The issue with Bing not finding the track suit pants is just bad SEO on the part of LTT. Ya gotta get the word track pants in there, it basically showed Linus his teams own misstep with SEO and nothing to do with Bings chat ai. If the page said "pants" anywhere it would have shown up at the start.
Luke: "How can you tell me I cant get one but Yvonne gets one" Linus: "I can explain this.... Im the boss so fu" was what I was expecting 🤣🤣 (obviously as a joke)
HELL YEA NEW YORKER... "DOOR IS AJAR, DOOR IS AJAR". We're from Ontario, my dad drove that thing until it was ditched for scrap, just south of the border in New York state. Rest easy old girl. Only 80s/90s kids know. My dad also used to mess with us and let on that it could fly. Once you blow the barrier with a talking car anything is believable
I'm so happy at 2:38:00 when Linus just hops up to go look for his IEs. I 100% would do that kind of thing and my wife would get sooo mad. She's always telling me to stop looking for things or to wait. I literally cannot. If I remember something or have an idea of where to look for something, I can't ignore it. I have to look. Mid show he gets up, that's me.
Yeah team red get some cool exposure! I have never seen an AMD commercial on tv ever. I have been AMD since they made 486 clones. the only intel system i have ever had was my 1st it was a rare intel 486 dx 50 not a dx 2 50 a dx 50 it was a short lived processor cause it had an overheating problem so i added a heat sync and an 80mm fan and i still have that system for my old dos games. It out performed intel 486 dx 4 100 processors.
Huh, now that you mention it, I don't think I did either. I think their MO was to get around by word of mouth rather than blow a budget on ads like Intel did (wtf were those Intel Inside ads even lol).

Buy long and tall shirts brother. I have a long torso also.
For the shirts thing, it's how the size is more of a suggestion than an actual metric. One shirt will go all the way to your thighs and another will barely reach your belt and they will both be the same size on the label. Guess if it counts as one size in one sweatshop then it's that size, regardless of its actual size.
I loved the Intel tech upgrade
Did you see their latest earnings? Intel is busy cutting costs and doing damage control LMAO. This is good and makes LTT a bit more credible since their aren't as close with Intel now. Seriously, that alone made all their efforts with ARC and any pro-intel move just come across as a shill.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the decision to pull out had nothing to do with content itself - like you said those videos are fantastic and usually some of the most-watched on LTT. Could just be some accountants at Intel reallocating budgets and putting less focus on marketing in general.

@@JoshMutia I am also in the mindset that it won't have big big affect on Google but this is internet we're talking about. It moves fast.
They know it's their last shot at relevance in the search engine market.

@@hiddendrifts the biggest hurdles it will need to deal with are things that are not standardized or easily quantifiable.

Thanks for this weeks show! I agree IXTU episodes are all great and they all have 100% good vibes, laughs and giggles 👌
Oh sorry to hear about the tech upgrades, were always fun to watch :)
I like how the laundry instruction labels for the tracksuit jacket say "DO NOT DROP".
This made me so sad I said to myself “I really hope another company picks this up” because these IETU’s are videos I can always rely on enjoying so it made me so happy hearing Linus say “BUT…”
I can't believe Brandon's leaving. Best wishes to anything he does! Really going to miss him
46:34 Might be the best moment in WAN Show history
I do wonder if, instead of recognising the logo, the AI simply knew that when asked questions like "Is there a matching x for y?" people tend to reply with things like "Yes they have the same logo". Or more simply: it saw "matching jacket" on the page, and at that point you can pretty safely bet they have the same logo, even without checking.
3:27:20 for the fading gold paint on the water bottles fading, I like to spray a light mist of fixative over any fade-able paint (or printed ink)
Works like a charm and fixative is fairly cheap. Semi-gloss is the one I usually go with personally
Fixative? What like hairspray over charcoal lines kind of thing? I always considered "lacquering" it with resin.
@@Reploidx9 well, sure, you can do that if you don't care about it yellowing.
Fixative is a protective coating for paint and ink to prevent smudging. There's gloss, semi-gloss and matte variations
I mostly only use lacquer on indoor stuff which never touch direct sunlight.
Perfectly heat resistant (up to 300C IIRC) but that is kinda irrelevant on a vac-insulated bottle. Realistically, the worst offender for any "tinge" or unwanted tint would be from your hands. Oils just ruin fun things.
The GPT search is my and a bunch of other’s work at Microsoft research/Microsoft so I’m glad to see such a positive response. Even though MSR is a great research place, I’ve always been a bit bitter about everyone laughing about Bing. How the turn tables :)
You and your team did great! Having citations was a huge wish I had for vanilla chatGPT. I hope I’m chosen from the waitlist so I can start using it!
So your the one responsible for spreading misinformation with bings chatgpt.
That tracksuit photoshoot has embraced the Goldie Looking Chain energy. Love it
Unfortunately I don’t think this comment will be seen, but I think it’s relevant and important. Many fans, like myself, don’t disclose to celebrities that we know who they are until later, it’s only to respect, that way you don’t think we’re only engaged because you’re famous. With what I do, I interact with well-known people for work, maybe I’ll start to disclose sooner, but that will close more doors.
Sarah's Intel XTU intro was THE BEST opening of any video in this series by far!
The troll was just too good.
Dennis needs to do a channel superfun where he gets as many people in the office on board as possible to wear the tracksuits and nametags.
1:55:58
Luke, I love you for that grin you gave Linus, when he went with the utmost furthest to explain, that he wants to satisfy the women in the audience, and then playing it off as an actual mishap.
Was one of the realest moments I have seen on the Internet by far.
So sorry the extreme tech upgrade is done. Those were great videos!
I was genuinely scared when you said intel pulled out. I can't wait for what's next keep up the goog work.
Even if AMD pulls out, they can probably keep the segment running and profitable as LTT upgrde by themselves.
@@pasikavecpruhovany7777 the term was for 24 of them or whatever. Because of that when the deal was up lmg asked for more due to bringing 75 million views. When intel went lol no. AMD went hell yeah
If you want the first few to do really well, a video of luke getting an upgrade will probably do really really well.
3:34 Dunzo Really Catching on. I like it.
Oh. My. God. That LTT backpack question made my jaw drop! Damn that's an impressive piece of software.
Seriously. Remember where you are, people. You'll be thinking back about this in 20 years. The day Bing became relevant.
That ChatGPT search stuff is legitimately nuts
Omg, a few years ago tall shirts were "in fashion" I LOVED them, can never find them at a decent price and decent quality... stoked for this
Dan is a treasure. Where did you find him and how can I get one for myself?
"What would you do if you took someone home and they had ltt underwear?" Likely she's a gamer and a techie so sounds like a keeper.
If the page said "pants" anywhere it would have shown up at the start.
joggers are pants so it should find it based on the context it had.
@@slendydie1267 joggers are shoes
Luke: "How can you tell me I cant get one but Yvonne gets one"
Linus: "I can explain this....
Scrapyard Wars Revamped: each contestant gets an "assistant" that is their boots on the ground to do the aquisitions. There are so many challenges that could be added in
None of the chatbots can write a screenplay yet, they don't have enough memory to keep track of a plot for that long and end up forgetting details that were established and contradicting them.
Just like humans.
So... Netflix Writers.
