Even in 2021 or years beyond, this guide has been helping me get better at 200cc! Your expertise and knowledge of the game are accurate and to the point very well! Well constructed guide Mank!
This is probably the most concise and helpful 200cc guide I've seen from you, or anyone for that matter. I can tell a lot of work went into it, so I'll definitely be using it and sharing it with friends. Thanks a lot!
A trick I learned a while back but tried today for the first time is that tilt controls MAX OUT HANDLING. Tournament players use that so that you can use a really low handling character and vehicle, and manage to make those turns. You’ll want to use a tilt/joystick hybrid, but that really works.
Just started playing MK8, just finished all of 50cc and started 100cc very pleased to see this one has a 200cc, the last game I played was double dash which was my favorite one personally. Thank you for all the tips, will start working on the ones applicable to lower difficulties to get used to them.
*takes a deep breath* Blugh.....I struggle so much with 200cc, and I get so damn mad that I can't enjoy the game anymore. Thanks for this vid. I think it'll be a big help.
This is amazing! Truly showed me how little I know about the game. Just by switching character and kart, and gently applying the brakes, went from third place to first (with three starts) in the first attempt. Thanks thanks thanks!
Wow Mank, you nailed everything! Really good job on that video. You even mentioned Star-Hopping, many people don't know that. This is your best video :)
Thanks for the tips, Mankalor, I actually got a 3 star ranking on all of the cups on 200cc, on the wii u, thanks to this, I was struggling, now I have finally beaten my first ever nintendo game, for the first time in 8 years, since it came out on the wii u in 2014, I beat it like 2 months ago.
This is a fantastic set up tips. I’ve been playing this game for years and only recently decided to explore the competitive scene so this is really helpful!
I started watching your montage videos, and found this one. Thanks for the clear concise explanations on all your tips. You didn't waste any time getting me the info I came here for.
Steering-cut is one I know, use the smart steering when start, when you need to go off the track or go on to the corner for shortcut, turn off the smart steering, after that, turn back back on the smart steering and finish the race.
I love 200cc, it adds a challenge to the game and all the other classes when you get good become so slow and boring. Even though I’m not that good a 200cc, I consider myself a decent player. Your tips are pretty spot on and it helped me a lot.
Thank you for this guide. Your advice is what made me able to beat 200cc mode in Singleplayer. I can’t really say anything else that hasn’t already been said by other nice commenters, but thanks nonetheless.
Very helpful! I found it interesting that inward drift bikes couldn't hop to align with the turn. I guess that inward drifting goes along with the heavier and faster combination, where you use it if you know how to play 200cc well.
Yes, I find it's easier without and you can get faster without it too. And if you're having trouble with speed and control, have your thumb over the accelerator and brake buttons, and you can drift, drive and brake at the same time, all it takes is practice. And you'll have fun!
I remember a few years ago my mate was waffling on about his baby rosalina strat like he was an expert. At the school lunch he brought his switch with Mariokart and I requested we do 200cc because its fun and challenging. He said no and wanted to do 50cc, truely an expert
whenever i play 200cc on mk deluxe, i use larry with the streetle car, azure roller tires, and the cloud glider. It provides really good handling and tracion, while also supplying good acceleration. :)
also, what i find helpful is to just keep on drifting around corners. if you feel like you’re going to slam into a wall, keep hopping and you’ll turn to face your path.
I don't know why I didn't think about using the smart stearing to practice, Thanks! I'm trying to 3 star all and I've already done most of 200cc and below but there are some really annoying cups (The Star cup😅)
I use Lemmy (or any baby character) Any sport bike (inside drift bikes) Roller wheels (or buttons) Cloud gilder (gliders that have more acceleration and less weight) The result is u get the 4 3/4 handling, 4 1/4 acceleration, 3 grip, 1 1/2 speed, 1 1/4 weight. I do 200cc Grand Prix and get massive leads in 1st place. Best recommendation I can give
This has helped alot to get all the 3 stars on all cups cause I was crashing into walls alot, so thanks for the tips, much appreciate it after 4 years in the future😁👊
@@X-manGaming I actually would like help lol I’m actually playing right now and the set up I have is baby daisy, pipe frame, roller wheels and any glider it’s kind of helping a bit but I want control over turns. I bump into walls or just fall of the map in places I’ve never fell before lol.

Speaking of item strats: I actually as good of a item smuggler in MK wii aganst bots. (The unfair ones) in working on 200 cc in deluxe with and without online. So thanks Manakalor or letting me copy that strategy!
One tip I have, if the CPU's are being annoying and making it harder for you go to a Vs race and set them to easy, or just go to time trials to practice.

Yes, brake while drifting. Do not let go of the A button. You’ll notice that the A and B button are right next to each other. Your thumb should be able to reach both. While your index finger is on the ZR button (drift button) your thumb should be pressing A and B.
