Zvezda model kits are one of my favorite. They have detailed molding with very little to no flashings. The parts are a good fit. The kits are good for the beginner or the more advanced modiler. Also the price of the kits are reasonable. Keep up the good work at Zvezda.

Zvezda is one of my favorites.
    The reasons are:
    1) I like Dreadnought- and Pre- Dreadnought ships. Zvezda was the first producer, wich released a bigger number of them.
    2) No overpriced frills.
    3) Much better quality as earlier kits from eastern europe.
    4) An extensive assortment like older producers like Airfix.
    5) Also payable for younger people.

Blood, sweat, toil and tears. I was thinking to get some 1/72 soldiers, have you ever made some and if so, are they good?

    • @Don_Camillo
      @Don_Camillo 4 роки тому +2

@@mcsebster6605 : Not easy to handle if you never had painted figures. In 1/35 it's possible to paint the kilt of a Highlander in Clancolours. In 1/72 you got no chance for such work of Art. But i prefer 1/72 scale because you'll get the chance for building living dioramas in a bearable size, soldiers and tanks in combat, service on a fighter plane or bomber, or the crew on a sub, ptboat or corvette. And you got the biggest possibility to select figures. More than in other scales.

I really like Zvezda kits, great value for the money. Spent most of my modeling 'life' building US aviation subjects from WW2 to current so have only discovered them when i decided to dip a toe in the warsawpact aviation scene, and built some Zvezda 1/72 Hinds,Fulcrums and Flankers. Recently come over to the darkside and started building tanks/afv's for the first time in 20 years, currently have the Zvezda T-14 Armata on the bench around 30% complete and its a great kit for the RRP...tooling of the kit is up to the same standard as some more expensive kits I've purchased from Tamiya/Meng/Takom...also it was looking at YT reviews of Zvezda kits i found this channel...and subscribed so it can't be all that bad can it....

Zvezda for me is as follows: old ones....barge poles....Tigers, KT, Panther, well, they are old Dragon molds, quite good. Modern Armor, AWESOME! New German kits like the Panzer IV, also great. But them old ones, no no no, not even with a barge pole! ;) Great review there John!

Sarge, I'd always check the timeline on Scalemates website as even some of the old ones are another companies kit moulds. Some are good, some are bad.. Revell is another company that does the same. Their "new" Elefant kit is actually a 1960s Italeri kit :)

Thanks for the review, the only kit I built from Zvezda was the 1/72 PAK 50 fighter, it was simple and came with display stand and had couple of fit issues.

I'm a professional model ship builder, 24 years full time. The ship models by Zvezda are in my opinion some of the best on the market. The very small 1/350th scale ships are amazing. Being careful with the small parts you will have a nice little model ship. Add some paint and a few lines of rigging and you will be happy at how nice they are. I plan on contacting Zvezda to tell them how nice their product is. Very satisfying model, especially if your just getting into model making.

Great video John and just what I was looking for. The Zvezda kits that I have all look great and once some of the group builds are out of the way, I have a couple of kits to build. Actually I do have a Zvezda T-34 that I will be entering into a little group build that I have heard about LOL.
I love the value in the Zvezda kits and as you say it's up to the person doing the building, painting and weathering to make the kit great. Even the best kit in the world will look pants if you don't build it right or paint it badly or even go over the top with the weathering, so if you want a good result for any kit, then just build it, paint it and weather it right and you will have a result capable of winning not just "a prize", but First Prize in a Show!
Well done John and may you build many more,
    Joe
PS I hope that your tea did not go too cold on you while you were talking.

I have been putting a lot of thought into this one and I think I will end up doing two builds.
I think I will build a Zvesda T-34/76 or a Tamiya T-34/76, but I will also do a fun build involving T-34s, but with a twist??? Now I don't want to give the game away just yet, so I will not go into any more detail here, but it will be different!
I think the one fairly serious build and the other strange build should satisfy my fun seeking as well as my modelling side.
I think that once my Op Torch Group Build is out of the way, I will have more time to spend on the T-34 GB, so I will do a video update early in August. In the mean time back to painting Kubelwagens.
      Have fun,
      Joe

I'm in the middle of building my first kit (Zvezda 1/35 KV-2) and my first impression is that they have pretty nice detail, but mold quality varies a lot with some pieces having no imperfections, and other being covered in ejector pin marks, flash, misaligned molds, or just straight up warping.
The link and length tracks had no sag so I had to put some in myself, and the bottom of the chassis was bent out of shape so it was a pain getting it to fit.
There were also some images in the book that had mirrored pictures of parts.
I'll try one of their more recent kits when I finish this one to see if it's any different, but my general first impression is that they're alright but not great.

Interesting company. I've built a couple of their aircraft with mixed results. I bought a old SU 27 kit which only vaguely looked like a SU 27, almost no detail, raised panel lines, poor fit etc. Then I built a newer Yak 3 which was a super little kit. None of the faults of the older molds.

Zvezda is Star in Russian. The Latin “Stella, stellae” 1st Feminine, star. Two years of torture in a Catholic School Latin Class and you never forget your Latin. Whoever told you it was the Latin for Star would be dead within a minute of Room 7, Our Lady’s, Corby, Daisy Lynch’s Latin class. I survived, because I learned it under duress, but I’ve learned my Latin well. Now interestingly, Russian is not too dissimilar to Latin. It too, has no definite or indefinite articles (“the” or “a”) and it relies on declensions and conjugations just like Latin.
My Russian wife says the proper pronunciation is ZzzvayzDAR which has the emphasis on the DAR syllable.Sorry I misread their comment, they actually said “using Latin letters” my apologies.

Never touch another one ever! Think there terrible kits! Plastic looks cheap and I had to clean every single part of flash and had to fill in injection pin Mark's on all parts too! The fitment was terrible nothing lines up on mine but the work I put into the finished model it came out nice but it reminded me of my old building days having to sort every single part out before putting together! it's quite interesting that you say there nice kits and I saw in a comment someone said it's there favourite maufactor!
