Just finished this... the last scene nearly had me in tears as a grown man! It was fantastic, the only niggle for me was the pacing and a very short battle with the villain. There were so many surprises in this book which I'm a massive fan of!
My best estimate of the tone is that the books progress with the reader, the older Tiffany is, the older the reader has become (not helpful for newer readers but still) they're good books to read to deal with how bad reality can be, it all helps build a better reader as they get older, even if i was older that Tiffany throughout, similar to Susan as a character archetype
I just finished this yesterday and loved it, Wintersmith was a total miss for me but this lived up to its expectations. The ending was beautiful , oh and yeah 3:15 i was screaming :D
Great review. You manage to summarize the important points quite well in the short time. I agree that the relationships are dealt with quite well while also playing with our expectations. For me personally the Tiffany books did become a bit of a bible for me. It sounds weird about books with little blue drunk men shouting 'Crivens' all the time. But her constant struggle trough the books how to be a good person is very relatable and just so very human. So in situations I miss orientation and where to go next, a Tiffany book it is (rarely enough necessary luckily). Prachett alwys has some good thought on the topic
You have - inadvertently - caused me much confusion. I was certain I had this book but as I scan along the bookshelves it's no-where to be seen. More frantic searches have failed to uncover its hiding place and now I am doubting my own mind. This is the trouble when books come in many size formats; they have to be tucked in wherever they fit which is never in Author order.
Oh no! I too keep losing the larger hardback Discworld books because they don't fit on the shelf with the others and have to slot in where they fit... Hope you find it!
Sorry to miss you yesterday! But there will be plenty more :) And true, I think I know quite a lot about Discworld now, lol, but there are definitely those who know more!

Thank you! That's great that the Tiffany books are important to you, it's so good when you find books like that. :)
Reading this next, can't wait it's been so long since I read Wintersmith!
