Thank you so much for this! I have been searching for an easy first sweater for my Studio 150 and this was perfect! Keep making these fantastic videos, they are extremely helpful!
Danielle, Thank you kindly for your generousity with sharing the generator and your very concise and clear video. You are such an inspiration to the machine knitting world. I made my swatches last night and ready to knit. I appreciate all your incredible work.
I just got my LK150 a few weeks ago! I very excited to try this sweater. As a plus size woman, I want to machine knit sweaters that fit just as I do with hand knitting. I first will probably be a frankensweater; I have lots of leftovers laying around.
@@LoveYourKnittingMachine I'm getting confused! It looks like you are ending on the left and putting the center and right side on hold. Then you are binding off left to right, place the right side sts on wy, place the left side sts on wy. But the written directions it says just the opposite. I've started over at least 5 times and finally get how to bind off. I just need to be sure I'm starting... or rather ending on the correct end.😕
Hi, 🤗, again, Love Your Knitting Machine, Oh, I only have a Flatbed Knitting Machine Without a Ribber. I would have To do the Ribbing after the Dress is finished at the end of work. Or is there an easier way of doing it? I'm New at my machine, too. Thank you for answering my question, too. Bye. Sincerely, Elsa R. From out in California
This is a very well made video for this! Your excel sheet that goes along with it is great too. My only question, especially regarding tension, how can you make this on the bond machine? There are faceplates you change out for tension and not a fancy dial. Any way possible to translate it?
Thank you! If I remember correctly you use key plate 3 for most things. So use that if it works with your yarn and then for the ribbing or hems use a smaller key plate. Probably 2 if it still works with your yarn. I have fond memories of working with the bond machine but can't say I actually miss it. 😬😆
Do you have a coffee account? Or website with things like patterns for sale? I love the simplicity of the sweater as I am just a beginner and I am always trying to do something above my skill level. I have just perfected a mitten pattern but had to say bad words to do it.
Hey there, thank you again for this great tutorial. As a total beginner, I was again able to follow 😊 I have 1 question though: Step 12 & 13 tell me to repeat the shaping pattern of the V 27 times, which makes 54 rows for the V. Afterwards, it tells me to go on until row 122 - so 68 further rows after the V is finished ("K to R 122. BO remaining stitches on WY")? As a result, the front is now of course way to long to match it with the back 😄 can you tell me what I understood wrong? I would have guessed that the pattern stops shortly after the V?
This video is great for the most part but is confusing when it comes to step 5 I was following along with the pattern and your video but got very confused and thought I was doing. Right then when I ran the carriage back to do the shoulders the whole thing fell off the machine. I’m gonna have to start all over sigh oh well guess this is a part of learning
Hi! I just bought a vintage Bond Incredible Sweater Machine. It had all the goodies except for the basic pattern book and it's nowhere to be found on the net. I'm hoping someone could help me figure out how to make some very basic women's/men's sweaters. P.S. I've also requested to join your FB Group. Thanks!
Hi i am new to knitting sweaters, i do not onderstand this part. I must knit 53 rows from arm markers to schouder top . To make the sleeves i must select 77 needles . So i have back 53 row/ stiches and front 53 row/stiches that is totaal of 106 and not 77. Do i have to skip some row/stiches to make it possible. Sorry long story i hope some one onderstand it.
You aren't really skipping some although you may. You can hang your center and ends(where row markers are) then hang the middles of those then the middle of those and continue in that fashion and it will all work out.
I've just had a machine brought for me, and I've never used one before, I need all the help I can get, it's so confusing and scares me to death . So, any help is good right now. Thank you.
There are a ton of UA-cam videos on how to use knitting machines. Just do a search. There are also some classes on Craftsy (a few) that are for knitting machines. It can be intimidating, but don't let it scare you.
I had a brother machine at home, but it's hard to find a durable folded knitting table? Do you know where I can buy one since my existing one keep running when knit, thanks
Hey… Thanks a lot for your video, I’m wondering if this tutorial also works on the Knitting machine Brother KH860, or just in the one that uses that kind of yarn. Mine uses thread. It would be fantastic if you help me in learning how to use my machine. Thank you a lot again. Greeting from Colombia. Sincerely, Daniel
Hi, thank you for this video. It is hard to see exactly where you pick up the mock ribbing to hang at the end of a sleeve. I have to do mock ribbing as I have no ribber left and like your way, but as said, cannot see exactly how to pick up the mock ribbing to close up at the end of the sleeve. Thanks so much!
When you get to the row before your mock ribbing, I'd thread a string across all the stitches. Then you'll be able to better see to pick it up. It is terribly hard to see, I agree.
hi, I have a question. at 7min you move one stich to the right and then these 2 stitches together to the left. Is there a difference just the move the right one on the left to have these 2 on the same position? Is it just to hide the manipulation on the right side ? (I guess I understand while I was writing the question)
Absolutely! Socks, hats, scarves, blankets, mittens, pumpkins, skirts, cardigans... All kinds of projects. Did you have something specific you'd like to make?
I have only a standard gauge machine. But find if I use #3 weight yarn and skip every other needle I get a nice swatch, 6 stiches across by 14 down. What I need is a simple cardigan sweater pattern so I can move on from making socks which is why I bought this size gauge machine. Do you have any recommendations? Is this something you would like to tackle?
Absolutely! Just use our pattern generator from our webiste here www.loveyourknittingmachine.com/how-to-make-a-sweater-on-a-knitting-machine-with-pattern-video
Regarding your pattern generator, you used a couple of measuring terms I don't understand. What do you mean by "rib length," and "Top of rib to Underarm" ? Also, is the "neck drop" measurement perpendicular to the shoulders, or does it measure the long side of the triangle? Thank you!
Great questions! How long in inches of cm do you want you rib? That’s the rib length, some might call it ribbing width for the bottom of the sweater. Top of rib to underarm is from the ribbing we just mentioned to the underarm, where it will connect to the sleeve. The neck drop is perpendicular. Hope that helps. I’ll add a diagram to the pattern too. Thanks for helping make the pattern better 😊
What are your Russell levers set to when you do the shoulders? I watched the video and then looked at the pattern, and they seemed slightly different. I decided to follow the video, did the first shoulder and bound off the neckline, but then when I tried to do the second shoulder it dropped everything.
Did you not have the wool in the feeder maybe. That makes mine pop off. Or if you didnt lift the knob or whatever you do to disengage to go to the other side... I also had a different version in my insturction manual and the explaination and pictures were terrible for casting off it just said to repeat from step one but actually it isnt like step one cos theres an extra loop after the first stich. So confusing. My version you had to do like a casting on for the first row of the second side maybe yours needs that too.
That is so frustrating. It is likely because your yarn wasn’t seated correctly 😣 I usually keep the russell levels set for hold and just push back the needles I want to knit. I’m working on a new video that is a more in depth for binding off.
Ok noob question. How the absolute heck do you find a thread inside the roll to pull it out. I especially got the kind of roll that is like yours. But i ended up having to use the outside and its rolling around on the floor cos my machine has a skate thing for the feed and not a rasied up arm. Its a busch ideal. I also have to hold the wool at the start of each stitch so i cant just go back and forwards ..my aunt who used it as a child sid they didnt have to do that but if i dont hold it iit pops the first stich off. And the instructions say to hold it taut for the first stich too. But its kinda a pain. Any ideas.
Crazy, isn’t it?! One trick I use is … one side of the skein is the outside end and the other side has the end in the middle of the skein. I actually pull out a big glob of yarn and usually the end is there somewhere. Hope that helps.
Once again, I have lost the pattern generator for this sweater! Can someone let me know where to find it AGAIN? I have all the emails but I don't locate the pattern generator.

Yes, the videos are much more detailed.
Is there a way to mark the mock rib start so you can see the pick up row more easily?
You can string a piece of yarn through the stitches and remove later.
is it possible to commission a sweater from you?

When you say "let the swatch rest overnight", do you mean remain hanging in the needles or removed from the machine, washed and blocked?
Removed from the machine. You would wash and block it if you are using wool.
