It’s been 6 whole months since the beginning of this production, and it’s been a wild ride ever since. We spent the first month and a half searching for costumes - that was an especially important piece of this video - then we made the storyboard and the script, taking creative liberty where we were free to, and then we spent a few weeks filming, searching for locations for certain scenes that couldn’t be green screened, and finding a place where we could film with a real horse. Well, we found everything we needed - and then it was time to edit and do sound design. Thanks SO MUCH to Frostiar for his amazing sound design, costume design, and acting, without him this video and the people in it would look and sound a lot less awesome. Also, special thanks to Maker Media Plus for sending us the Nightmare shield and the classic Minecraft shield, thanks to The Fazbear for modeling L’manberg for us - it would’ve looked way less authentic without his help - thanks to the nearly 50 people who sent in their voices, and thanks to Pepper Oaks Equestrian Center for allowing us to film with their horse, named Jake from State Farm. I still love that to no end.
Speaking of the voices - one voice didn't make it into the credits because of how late into the game it came along. That voice belonged to SkyDragon44 - thanks to him for sending it!
By the way - now that you’re this far down in the description, I think it’s time to mention something fun: only Frostiar and I were in this video. Other than the special thanks given above, nobody else took part in this video but us - that is, everyone was played by us, all the editing (literally all of it, my brain is about to fall out) was done by me, and every single bit of sound design was made by Frostiar. All the costumes are original and designed by Frostiar himself.

I like how in both this adaptation, and SAD-ist animation, Quackity loses his eye by a hit from below. Kinda creating little headcanon details.

Ok I know everyone is already talking about visuals but I just wanted to say a few things. First off, it’s amazing how well the actors translated block people from a video game into real life movements and emotions. Technoblade spinning the pickaxe like that creating almost after images of a circle on the screen. The way that quackity gets kicked through a curtain to censor his curse was hilarious. Small things like that really made this amazing.

This makes me realize just how epic Technoblade's character and persona really is. A madman who hears voices in his head, yet an unstoppable force in both mind and body who knows Sun Tzu's Art of War by heart and can single-handedly take on armies. The pacing, the lightning, the minor tweaks to combat dynamics and dialogue to make it more realistic and coherent, it all adds together. As much as I rooted for him, I also felt afraid of Technoblade by the end. I would pay good money for a full-length movie about Technoblade like this, not just to buy it, but to help fund its creation. Truly masterful work.
Thanks! Portraying Techno in live-action definitely did bring out the power and strength that is his character, which made him very fun to act out.
Not just Sun Tzu, in his Techno vs Dream analysis video he shows he’s memorised the details of a royal assassination attempt from the 3rd century. Assuming that wasn’t just a random piece of knowledge, it suggests he’s studied battle tactics from all across history.

Yeah, I almost didn't even click on it due to it being a fan film, but the opening hooked me right in. The rest of the film kept that up and I'm so impressed
One of my favorite things in this is the use of Techno’s voices. They really bring to light why he would give up everything for his horse. The whole project is so well thought out. Beautiful!
Okay, if there is on song in here that fits, it's Kill the Crown. It's SUCH an anarchist song that fits non other than the Blood God himself. Mad respect to you two, this must have taken forever and it payed off! This needs more views, honesty!

I realise, when techno said 'the voices' I have noticed, some super low voices saying like 'kill them' and 'blood for the blood god' Its amazing how there are so many small details there are and we didn't even notice, this is really well made!
I was expecting for chained-up techno to shout "PHIL WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU?" the moment he saw Philza, but they didn't include that in. A little bit disappointing, but overall, I think they did a great job on the acting. And the attention to details **chef's kiss**
This was so incredible that last fight scene between Quackity and Techno looked so incredibly realistic

I literally cannot describe how fucking incredible this actually is, I’m in awe. Not only were the costumes and props pretty much spot on, differentiating every character, but with ONLY TWO ACTORS??? That’s actually insane. Not to mention the fight scenes and the cinematography could not have been better. All the rendering with the backgrounds and to go as far as replicating l’manburg and techno’s home is beyond incredible. Being a dream smp short film, you went above and beyond to create this. This deserves so much more attention, keep it up!!

This community will never stop amazing me. A 20 minute long live action movie ABOUT A MINECRAFT ROLEPLAY?! That’s nuts! And it’s so awesome! The shots of L’manburg were so beautiful, like it had come to life. The actors did so well and executed this huge task beautifully. The special effects were beyond anything I’ve ever seen from anything like this. I was holding my breath during the anvil drop and fight scene, even though I already know how it ends. And Friend and Carl! It’s amazing that they got real animals! The set up of the potion brewing area in Techno’s house was really really cool. I think I’ll stop ranting now. This was a real treat to watch!

THIS IS INCREDIBLE!the amount of effort put into this is outstanding!
I’m not even five minutes in yet, however I was immersed-
I especially love how you have incorporated so many details about the characters- from the beginning in 3:03 we see that Ghostbur is transparent, which fits his character as I’m sure you can tell he’s a ghost. This tells the viewer that he isn’t alive compared to if he wasn’t transparent, and even if you were already a viewer of DSMP it still helps to identify whether he’s a ghost or not.
Then in 8:40 we see the crown falling from the perspective of the ground. This makes the crown seem more valuable compared to his other items,
and as a disclaimer please take this with a grain of salt *(I don’t know whether what I’m saying is accurate)*-
but it tells me as a viewer that Technoblade is ready to give up his pride to save his horse (which I’ve heard is his retirement plan so I guess it’s fair enough) despite being able to give in to the voices and murder the butcher army instead
Later we see in 8:48 that the voices whisper to Technoblade to keep his totem in his offhand. First of all, I’d like to take a moment to appreciate that it is EXTREMELY difficult to work when you must organise a large group- to the voices and those who have worked with the voices, you have done a phenomenal job. The voices are perfectly synchronised and stay in a low-whisper voice which must be difficult when there are multiple voices, I admire your efforts and teamwork and strive to learn from this!
And for the voices in DSMP it seems like they are parasites living on the host; Technoblade. They want to keep Technoblade alive in order to live, so they hiss and demand him to do things he probably doesn’t want to do. However surviving becomes tiring- soon they’ll crave something to entertain their boring lives, so they order him to slaughter others which makes them feel powerful, however this is just my interpretation (I’m not sure if this is accurate!!!)
I just couldn’t go without mentioning this- in 10:44 we see Phil (but as he is under house arrest he doesn’t have power over the butcher army). But without those wings, as a viewer I wouldn’t be able to tell if it was Phil as he is only a silhouette. And, bravo with the wings- they look so realistic and the animation is so smooth!!!
Secondly in 16:47, we see Technoblade disarm Quackity by using his surroundings showing how he’s much more experienced in fighting despite the gear he’s been dealt with, or how in 16:49 we see why Quackity has a scar running over his face, or in 18:45 he walks on his toes as humans walk with their soles on the ground (plantigrade) while pigs walk on their hooves!
Not to mention, I was astounded when I read that only Hero Destrin and Frostiar played the whole cast! And the effort as well as the patience put into the costumes too? I honestly feel like I don’t deserve to watch this film for free now ahhhh ;v;
As a conclusion- I don’t usually write this much to tell you the truth as I’m lazy, but seeing this masterpiece? I could never let myself leave the video if I didn’t show my appreciation, I don’t think I could even sleep if I didn’t! That’s how breathtaking it was. *Everyone involved in this film should be proud of themselves!!!* Bravo!!!

Man, I had some doubts about a live action vid, but this was absolutely fucking incredible. The setting was phenomenal, and the costumes blew me away! I loved the way techno's eyes moved. I can't believe there was only 2 people working on this. I watched Dune today, and this was way better lol. You and Frostiar are super talented and incredible.

You guys did a very great job! The editing, the music , the cosplay and acting -outstanding! Idk why, but I focused on the little details such as:
The acting- the way Wilbur/Ghostbur jitters nervously, it rlly suits his behavior! For Technoblade, he stands almighty and strong, but when he got the news that ppl are gonna attack him, he starts acting rlly nervous and started biting his nails, I rlly like it :0 AND! When Tubbo fights Techno, he knew he was going to lose and was very scared, backing off Techno n all. and also, Dream is a very mysterious character, he didn't say anything just points it out. also Quackity's character gotta be my fave, at the end when he fights Techno, he knew he was going to lose but acted stubborn, costing one of his canon lives in the process.
The voices- the way they whisper at Techno when they saw Dream. And when they begged Techno to not take his weapons off and at the end when the voices laugh when seeing his secret place of weapons, and when Techno joined laughing along.
The bell in his room- i love it thank u for putting that in lmao
AND TECHNO HAS HOOVES?? LOVE THE DETAIL. ALSO is it just me, or Techno's pig mask's eyes changed shapes during different expressions??? or its just me lol

I think these are the people that should be given ways to make incredible CGI and movie directing so they can be the ones, or at least part of the ones, to make a DSMP movie or at least a show.

I could write several essays on the technical prowess and cinematography displayed here, especially considering this was a 2 man production (!!), but something that immediately jumped out to me was the scene with Philza on the balcony; it's such an emotionally-impactful bit of lore. Even though he was rendered in silhouette, the wing animation was so smooth and, even though making the wings symmetrical would surely have been easier to animate, the artist rendered one wing with the shattered feathers from the explosion on the 16th. That attention to detail for a 3 second cameo is the stamp that separates the good from the Great, and that attention is evident throughout the entire production.
Standing ovation, good sirs, you deserve it!!
I believe the story behind Phils wings getting destroyed in the 16th is that he once on stream said to Wilbur that now he can't fly, because some idiot blown them up. Then it got written in stone as canon by SAD-ist with her animatic "Dawn of 16th", where she drew Phil jumping in front of Wil to protect him from the explosion, and since fans have accepted that Phils wings got blown up then.

This has to be the most amazing Dream SMP related fan stuff i've seen so far, everything from the acting to CGI, it's all so amazing, the combat acting is for sure best part of this whole thing, it's very entertaiment to watch, and it's like professional level of acting, and the fact that i couldn't even tell that there were only 2 actors? Very outstanding work; The visuals are very pretty and appealing to the eye, aswell as setting a good atmosphere, which is a very important aspect since it helps giving emotion to the scene; and the little details are so nice, the fact that you can hear the voices in Techno's head from time to time is such a cool details which ties everything together, i bow down to this masterpiece, simply an incredible piece of media, i really hope more people get to watch this.
Guys, we need to make sure the CCs see this. THIS IS EPIC! I wish I could've watched it when it premiered, but I was very busy. It was worth the wait though! :D
i am SO impressed with the fight scenes; choreographing fights aren't easy, and especially translating them as well as you have, too! Great work, I'm so glad I've found this channel. It's really exciting to see what Live action DSMP could look like

Even without knowing the c!Techno, you know this guy ain't fucking around and now that he's been provoked, is going to come at you with all he got

Frostiar absolutely KILLED it with the body language. I mean that's Mandalorian-level expression there. The choreography, the flair - you did not pull out the stops on any of the fight scenes and the Q v Techno duel??? man?? you guys??? rocked???
and the shots - daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang. That angle with the crown being thrown is my favorite, right next to just about every angle from the hallway fight.
The sound design stole the show, easily. I had to keep pausing to marvel at the voices (literal chills every time they came up - it's one thing to know about them theoretically, another to HEAR THEM and I don't know how this is the first time we've heard them synthesized in the history of the fandom but I'm glad it was your guys.)

I could most definitely say that this was worth the wait. The sheer amount of effort, passion, and work put into this can be seen in every single aspect of this project! I am absolutely blown away. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire time watching. I could write a full blown essay on how incredible this is honestly! The camera shots and movements along with the lighting is just downright phenomenal! It’s so realistic as well and the designs and costumes! Oh my goodness the costumes were just amazing! Every actor did such an incredible job portraying the story, they really made the entire thing look super fierce and every action seemed so genuine. They really brought the project to life along with the editing!
Editing was 👏 top 👏 tier, I cannot imagine how much all the editing took nonetheless the rest of the props, sets, and effects. The soundtrack and background music purely set the mood that the actors helped hold up. And I can’t not bring up the backgrounds either, it was so cool seeing everything at such a cinematic view with so much depth! The fight scenes? Where do I even start? The fight scenes were so well choreographed and the amount of energy you can see within the characters during the scenes is so true. They were really planned out and super intense!! The movements were all so smooth and well-executed. Absolutely incredible. It was amazing to see everything come together, I am absolutely astounded and to see every single background, costume, prop, sound effects to get merged into such an incredible and high quality project is extremely inspiring.
It is quite easy to say that I enjoyed every second of this and will definitely be coming back to visit this treasure very soon.

The acting was immaculate, and I was extremely overjoyed to see such effort to detail. Lovely work!
I didn't even cringe not in a single moment, this is legitimately nice short film. This is incredible, mesmerizing and beautiful!
A list of things from this that I love about this in no particular order:
visual effects - the green screen backgrounds were super cool!
sound design and soundtrack - Between the two of these the audio was amazing! Everything sounded so epic!
sets - the sets that weren't greenscreened were also super good looking. I love the interior of techno's cabin!
fight choreography
acting - I think it's super cool how there were only two people playing all the roles! I would never have known, you did a great job w/differentiating between the different characters' body language
costumes - the mixture of modern clothes and medieval things (quackity's paldron and belts in contrast to his striped tracksuit)
- the way tubbo's just out in the middle of the frozen wilderness in a t-shirt
the way they kept in little funny bits - "I'm rating this kidnapping 3 stars at best" techno's multiple "heh?!?!?"s
the voices - techno's voices were a super nice touch to have included.
the way the anvil falling and the totem resurrection scene was shot was amazing.
You really sold all the fight scenes!! Holy shit I just want to throw money at everyone involved, fantastic work

Even tho I've watched this technos stream like 20 times already I still feel like I am watching it for the first time. you just. I don't know what to say. The CGI, the acting, the costumes/cosplays? Holy f- you deserve at least 1M subs. And way more views. You're insane and I hope you'll continue with your guy's amazing work. Thank you for this incredible experience
This is something that is TRUELY incredible, The voices in techno’s head, The slight cross between real life and minecraft, everything is so well put together, The slight sound effects matched perfectly to the scene from minecraft to real life.
All actors match their characters perfectly.

This was like an intense movie. The editting, the costumes (the details is so amazingly perfect) and the acting like dude, you deserve their attention for them to watch this masterpiece.

Dudeeeee the fighting scene between Techno and Quackity was INSANE!!! I was genuinely intrigued as much as I was when I first watched the freaking VOD. I applaud thee.

How am I only seeing this now?! This is SO cool and so well done. The fighting choreography for the techno and quackity scene is so cool to watch and the techno costume? Literally perfect. This is so cool again, just wow.
I never like saying anything bad about others work. But I think that all the practical effects really help to sell the scenes, also I think having the masks on really help with the dialogue. THAT WAS AMAZING the sound was top notch amazing the explosion was awesome, the fights were awesome you picked the perfect location for the Technoblade vs Quackity battle, the whole thing is pretty EPIC sooo noice. (:

Holy shit this is amazing! I can't believe that I just stumbled upon this! I'm literally in awe, this is so underrated, somebody get the DSMP members in on this stuff!!! Somebody needs to grab the attention of Technoblade himself :D

Everything about this is fantastic. The cinematic decisions, the acting, the outfits, the sound design. The use of music and minecraft sounds were just YES and the Drama you really captured a vibe. the choreography for the final. Fight was SO GOOD and Hhhhhh yeah. This was cinema.

I keep rewinding to watch quackity turn to square up against an utterly intimidating Techno. The angry confident saunter is on point.
I have no words for this. This is one of the most impressive projects I've seen on UA-cam. You didn't have to put in all this effort but you did and it's just incredible! You guys have my respect for your creativity and dedication.
