    My husband used to visit Kentucky Alleyene with his father in the 80s, before it was a developed provincial site. Now we camp there every year. Hayne Point is always a favourite stop as well, just make sure you get on the right side of the lake or you'll be blown away!

      Haha, yes we have been there when windy, at least enough to shake the van. There is a good reason for the wind warning signs! It must have been wonderful to visit K-A when less developed. Very pretty area! Really enjoy the drive as well!

    Finch is like our little girl, curious but cautious. Another really nice video, the ducks synchronized swimming was so cute! Thanks Miki and Gordon for all the creative work that goes in to your channel.

      🙏 we really enjoyed the synchronized swimming as well…one of the funny things that likely happen often that we never usually see.

    Looks like it was a quiet, relaxing trip. I’ve always enjoyed fall travel and camping the most, without all the noise and heat you get in summer. I wonder if Finch will eventually get used to the furnace, especially if he figures out it’s providing all that cozy warmth that most cats crave. Next time I want to see the spider 😂.

      Yes, the fall can be a wonderful time to travel. Not too cold or too hot and not usually busy (sẃiẃs was an exception-very busy). Never thought about adding the spider to the video!

    We stayed here in June and all because I saw your video of when you stayed in the over flow part. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful lake front site for 2 nights and we swam and floated on the lake. Just stunning 😍

      It is very nice!! We did enjoy the overflow area though. No bugs this time of year (spiders excluded).

    Kentucky Lake used to be one of our favorites when we were younger. Our daughter and myself now require flush toilets when camping. Do you ever stop at The Rolling Pin in Hope for picnic supplies? They have vegetarian sausage rolls and the best butter tarts. Looks like you had a nice, relaxing trip. Nancy

      We were surprised that sẃiẃs had flush toilets (and sinks). Usually our only stop in Hope is for pie! But we will add the Rolling Pin as an option! We especially found Kentucky-Alleyne very quite and relaxing! And of course, after reading your comment we now have cravings for butter tarts!

    Great video as always Gordon and Miki! Those areas are beautiful. Would love to visit Haynes Point one day. I didn’t get the chance to go to Britton Creek for the samosas this year, but maybe next year. Kentucky-Alleyne is a beautiful spot. Safe travels!

      Haynes is very nice, but we really loved being able to get back to KA finally…and yes, you will have to wait now until next year for those Samosas! Appreciate you watching! 🚐

    Hi There, love your videos and we've been watching your "best of" in particular as we are now returning to Colorado after about a month in Canada. Thanks for all the tips. Too funny - I think we drove through Haynes Point campground, looking for a FCFS site the same day you were there. We didn't find anything and decided against the overflow spaces. But our Travato looked very similar to one of the vans in your video. Keep posting - we'll be back for round 2 in the Vancouver island area. Cheers.

      Thank you and safe travels home! It would have been fun if you had seen us and said hello at Haynes. You will enjoy Vancouver Island if you get to visit! 🚐

    Great video! We love the diversion from hwy 3… looks like a wonderful spot. We got the same furnace vent covers back in Aug, good choice. Hope to see you on the road this fall.

    Looks like another successful trip! We've never stayed at Kentucky-Alleyne but it looks very nice. The new screens for your van's furnace look great - did you make those or are they purpose-built?

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  11 місяців тому

      We quite like Kentucky- Alleyne, in part because the country around is so nice. The first time we were there it was a bit buggy, not an issue now of course. Screens were from Amazon, and are under $20 if we recall correctly.

    At 2:16 sign says "Strong Undertow" but why, so many, many miles inland from the sea, and no rushing river nearby?

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  11 місяців тому +1

      We wondered same. Lake does narrow, so may impact.
