  • We continue our trip from our last video and head to the Canadian Rockies to see if we can find RV campsites during the August long weekend. After finding all campgrounds full at Mt. Robson Provincial Park, we head to Jasper to try our luck. We also explain some RV camping options in Jasper, and travel south through the Kootenays. We also provide an important update on the current wildfire situation and travel restrictions in BC.

Your videos are always uplifting and in these worrisome times we thank you. We’ve made notes of the places you stayed on your week long trip, lots of great information. Please tell Finch we love his fluffy orange pyjamas!

We were at our cottage in Osoyoos during the forest fire there a few weeks ago. We watched them lay down that red line of fire retardant. The work they did there was just incredible and we were in awe of their skill and dedication. Footage from the last few days in Kelowna have reinforced for us how lucky we are to have such people protecting us and our properties in this beautiful province. ❤❤ Your spot in Wells Gray (in part 1 of this trip) was my favourite of this trip. Another lovely video. Thank you for sharing!!

Well said! They do amazing work! And yes we loved the spot in Wells Gray. That was our second time there. We were disappointed we couldn’t stay at Mt Robson …nice as well and the skies were clear. So glad you enjoyed!

We have smoke in the Puget Sound area today, not sure where it’s from. I’m glad you finally found some blue sky. Interesting mix of camping spots on this trip, from parking lots to that last beautiful spot with privacy. Good to see Finch enjoying himself so much.

It was also fun to find some spots for the future! And yes, Finch seemed to enjoy this trip through he definitely prefers the more quiet spots! We are actually camping in Victoria right now and are likely sharing the same smoke. Tomorrow should be better hopefully! Some positive signs in the Interior we hope as well.

Glad you had a great trip and the smoke wasn't too heavy where you were.

Thank you! In some ways the smoke added something to the trip…made the views different, though clear skies preferred!

Years ago I stayed at the Jasper overflow, no picnic tables, no fees, no sites, just a big open field in a valley between two mountains ... it was fantastic. It looks similar to where you stayed but not 100% sure.

Very similar, but we had the luxury of a picnic table and a pit toilet! Same wonderful views!

Great video. We camped at Lake Louise at the end of June and spent the day in Banff. We paid $47.00 to park all day downtown! There is free parking near the train station but our fashion conscious daughter had to be near the car so she could change outfits for dinner. Nancy

We just watched your second part of your journey through Wells Gray Park and Jasper. We really enjoyed the video. So much so, we are thinking of taking our Simplicity up to Wells Gray Park for a few days.

I just spent 11 days at Wilcox. Some days blue sky's, a few were smokey. I stayed 1 night at the icefield center just to try it out.
    Safe travels

We really enjoyed our previous stay at Wilcox as well! It didn’t get too hot, cooled at night and wonderful views!

Not sure if you ever seen , Settler Road goes from Kooteney park to Canal Flats . If you make it a nice slow 2 / 3 / 4 day drive . 1.5 hr in Honda Civic if so you wanted do it faster . there is no campgrounds, but there is lots of spots to camp for free .
Wish things were better here, I would have put a invite earlier this year . Maybe next summer🐾👣🌮🍺✌️🙏

You could have gone north and west from Jasper to Dawson Creek, run along the AlCan Highway (Muncho Lake, Liard Hot Springs) to just west of Watson Lake and turned south on #37 (Cassiar Highway) and on to Smithers, over to Prince George and down to just north of Cache Creek, turn west on # 99 which takes you through Lillooet, its now known as the Duffey Lake Road, still #99 tho. Then Pemberton, Whistler and the Sea to Sky. We've done that circle two or three times from our home on Vancouver Island and I'll do it another two or three!

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  11 місяців тому

Absolutely…but we wanted to get home in a few days. That is a wonderful area! 99 is a fun drive too, even in a van!

Finding camping sites can be a challenge at times. I enjoyed the video, hopefully the fires will end soon. The fire season hasn't been horrible here (Idaho) this year. I am heading up to Yellowstone this week, hopefully the crowds have thinned out some.

We believe this has been the worst fire season in BC on record, but with fall around the corner hopefully it will end soon for everyone. Challenging times. We are actually on Vancouver island and very smoky so far..and still quite busy. Likely the last week. Glad you enjoyed and wishing you safe travels!
