    For those who failed to understand the message of the song, the song is not about belittling the country, but about:
    "The millions of people who had their history written for them, and how they felt they couldn't escape it. It's about being told what to do, about being told what to believe in - which is, in a nutshell, the story of America's youth."
    Bob Boilen

    • @isabellacondon2854
      @isabellacondon2854 8 років тому +94

      dude free speech isn't just an American thing like I'm an American but honestly why are americans so full of themselves for having the bare minimum of rights like cool we have "free speech" but we also live in a police state where protestors are arrested for exercising that right. on paper we have free speech but so does almost every other developed country we aren't special or better

    • @midobecker1
      @midobecker1 8 років тому +32

      I have never made such distinction. I am not bragging about America. I am just saying we have the freedom of speech in our country. Yes, we also live in a police state. Yes, we have a violence society and we have a bitter twisted idea about patriotism. But, I love my country as much as I appreciate other cultures because I have lived in other places. Yes, we have problems, but last time I check it is almost the same case for most europeans and other developed nations. By the way, you get arrested in most developed nations when you are protesting on the streets as well. I don't intend to glorify where I live, but I also know negativity is not the solution either. We can point out our problems but few dare to bring real solution to the problems.

    Listened to Disgraceland five times in a row last night, and I didn't even realize that until this morning when I woke up.
    North Ave. is currently my personal favorite off the album; the nagging melody (especially the ingenious guitar sounds) and lyrics just give off that funny nostalgic feeling for whatever reason. Bathroom Tile Blues is also extremely addictive. Very bluesy, obviously.
    Actually, every single track is fueled by exquisite vintage-sounding guitar hooks, infectiously catchy drum beats, and just gives off that overwhelmingly optimisitic rush of energy. Just pure and straight up rock and roll stripped down to its barest essentials and none of those intricate bullshit. It is designed for the average listener to JUST HAVE FUN, dance along and feel youthful.
    This is THE album to listen to if you want to kickstart your day with a pumped-up load of adrenaline rush and get rid of those blues.

    Sounds like a mixture of The Strokes, The Killers, and Against Me with a little Gaslight Anthem thrown in for good measure. Really great song. Simple riff, underplayed drums, and good execution. All the makings of a great song. Great job Orwells.

    00:00:22 Kid Danger: Who were these men, Eric, what the hell happened, bro?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! That seemed like a lotta protection to be givin’ a man who ran up some gamblin’ debts!
    Eric Gordon: Niko’s right, bro, at first it was just the debt then they found out Roman’s name so they connected him to him and what the hell happened at Hove Beach so Dimitri Rascalov was on his way to that warehouse, they wanted him to give him up and he would never...
    Kid Danger: Niko would know Roman wouldn't, Eric, I just thought these men were done with Dimitri when they got outta Hove Beach, bro, and both he and Bulgarin know how to hold a grudge!
    Eric Gordon: Y’know how to hold a grudge as well, Kid, Niko better not forget ‘bout that, pal!
    Kid Danger: He could never forget that, Eric!
    Eric Gordon: These men have to get outta Bohan, bro, maybe it’s time to go to Algonquin so they can disappear in Algonquin!
    Kid Danger: They sure can, bro, but ‘member, only for so long and these men will be found eventually no matter where they’d go so confrontation and or peace will be our choices at some point and Niko would know the option he’s just gonna be leanin’ toward!
    Eric Gordon: He’d go for anythin’ as long as he could be guaranteed safety, bro, that's all he’d want, crap!

    It seems like the people who have criticized the band are rock elitist's who hate any new band that came out after the 90's. If you're going to critique the band, give reasons. Don't call them poser kids simply because they play a simple style of rock.

    You better help the children

    You better count your blessings
    Kiss mom and pa
    You better burn that flag
    Cause it ain't against the law!
    You better pledge your allegiance
    You're not the only one
    Listen up forefathers
    I'm not your son
    You better save the country
    You better pass the flask
    You better join the army
