    Three amigos usually caused by ABS shuttle valve fault can mostly be fixed in 30mins with £60 wabco part with no disconnection of brake pipes, just lift it all up gently to get access to the little screws to change part, hope you fixed it all, good luck

      It is a good solution. It is labor intensive and somewhat involved. But it transforms how it drives that is for sure. But either way even if you want to stay with the rover engine platform there is some options out there as well to minimize some of the potential downfalls.

    I can't wait for the next video I got a 2000 discovery 2with a blown motor sitting there right now and I don't want to put another factory motor in it . I'm just not one for electrical but I did pay attention to your video you said that Ace would would do you a wiring harness so hopefully that will be plugging play for a little extra money I just did all the suspension on it before it blew up and I and I just can't get rid of it because I won't because I want to do an LS swapThe thing is too cool and I think it's been the Texas and California so it's pretty clean underneath

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  3 роки тому +1

      I think there is still a small amount of wiring you would have to do if ace does the wiring but far less than what we had to. The whole swap is time consuming but I think it is a worthwhile upgrade.

    New sub. Not a LR owner, but have a Grand Wagoneer that I recently dropped a 4.8 into. 275hp and about 285lb/ft torque. Double the hp over stock. Like you, I kept the stock transmission (727) and case (229, now swapped for a 242) so driveshafts were retained along with the speedo connections. No overdrive and 2.72 stock gearing. My mileage ranges from 15.5-20 depending on where I drive. The biggest issue is definitely aerodynamics (or lack thereof). A windy day or kayaks on the roof will kill any hope for better than 16-17mpg. Have about 5k on mine now.

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  2 роки тому

      That sounds like a nice setup, a little more modern, road friendly. Yes these boxes on wheels don’t help, but small price to pay for fun. Being able to put it in 2wd helps some, the the Land Rover transfer case is full time awd/4wd.

    Looking for a shop out here in west Texas to do this ACE swap for me. Thanks a ton for your videos tracking your process, I may work up the courage to just do it myself! All the other ACE swap videos on UA-cam don't go anywhere near into the depth you have on your swap. Awesome stuff! No problem. It is a bit of an undertaking but if you are somewhat mechanically inclined it is doable. @LostCauseRanch  3 роки тому

      Sounds good, so in line or maybe a little better than a stock Disco. We did 10ish in the Range Rover camper on the way back from Yellowstone but that’s not a good comparison being it has a camper hung on it and 5.13s haha.

  • @aaronjohnston6625
    @aaronjohnston6625 3 роки тому +4

    Nice summary, and glad to hear its running good. The used LS in mine also had a bad set of injectors and a bad PCV valve from sitting in the junkyard that had to get sorted after install. The old engine got around 11 mpg with the tires/rack/etc, 5.3 is closer to 15. I’ve heard of stock-ish LS Disco setups getting more than that. I think you are loosing a bit because of the tires, but maybe consider getting a tuner to optimize the tune for you. The Silverado 2wd tune is okay, but can be improved for the LR driving all the wheels all the time.

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  3 роки тому +1

      Nice to hear the 15. That’s kind of what I was thinking it might do. Yes, the large tires are definitely dragging the mileage down some. We run into various issues like the injectors and coils/sensors a fair amount on used engines, the yard like to pressure wash them off then stuff them on the shelf. Usually swap the electronics with what was on the car but we didn’t have that luxury since we were dumping the 4.6 out of it haha. How is your swap doing?

    • @aaronjohnston6625
      @aaronjohnston6625 3 роки тому +1

      @@LostCauseRanch I hear you on the used engines. Generally I’ve been pretty lucky. For the mpg, I’ve noticed if that because of the aerodynamics, especially after a lift, the mpg substantially decreases for every mph over 60. My 5.3 has been going for around 3 years now. Its a weekend car for me and I don’t drive it a ton, but since it was dialed in it’s been smooth sailing.

    • @LostCauseRanch

      That is something that is state by state. We have zero emissions testing in Iowa so no challenge on a swapped vehicle.
