I put this kit on my 2020 Silverado 2500HD and it wore out my pitman arm and idler arm within 10K miles. I spoke highly of this kit because it did drive tighter, now it’s done the opposite of what it was intended for. I have the Cognito 3” leveling kit and have no complaints there but I don’t know if the 20’s are different but it’s not something I’d recommend
@Chris Pugh They won’t tell me that but I did get my money back which is hardly the price for my repair. I know the place where I had it repaired at in Florida isn’t using that particular kit anymore, but they still do the cognito lifts which is fine.
@@bonecrrusherSS I second that! I installed this kit on my 06 Yukon 50K miles ago and I wheel it every summer! Still good and tight at 150K miles with the original front end. The kit is a little pricey but well worth it. I bought it from a member on GMFS forum.
@@bonecrrusherSS OK Thank you for your help and the info in the video. This will be my second idler arm also but I didn't install the last one. I have the same cognito support kit installed with new idler and pitman arm about 6 years ago and the idler is gone again. This time I will do it myself to save some money.
Did you have play in your steering wheel before this mod? I have replaced my steering gear box 8 times and with 2 brand new gear box not reman in my 03 Silverado. And had every suspension part replaced. And had 5 alignments but after all that i still have bad slop in steering wheel.
Yes probably 1-2" of slop in each direction. I replaced the tie rods, the steering shock, and the rest of the hardware under the truck - and it really cleaned up the looseness of the steering.
I had a 1988 2 wheel drive chevy that I replaced all the balljoints and idler pitman and tie rods...the truck drove better with the worn out parts..I replaced steering box and the idler couple times and couldn't figure out problem...then one day I was turning truck around in the driveway and the lower balljoint separated on drivers side...after I replaced it the truck drove perfect...so the new balljoint I installed the year before was defective and caused me a shit load of extra expense and that was why it was wandering on the road...it did steer a little sharper to one side also before I replaced defective balljoint

Is the 2020 a different design? That frame is like 2 generations newer.
@@bonecrrusherSS possibly, I have to take it up with Cognito this week to see what’s going on, I’m out $1900 for all the premature front end work
What did you use for your truck for steering problem?

Is there a way to just tighten up your pitman arm if it’s loose on the cognito lift???
Replace it?
How’s the pitman and idler arm holding up. Did you get any steering wheel play come back. Or is it still good and tight
It's still tight - I mean wayyy tighter then my 200k mile worn out steering feeling I used to have.
Thanks for the input imma try and get my hands on a kit before too much longer

Did you need to use a puller to remove the idler arm from the center link.
No - it popped out without issue. FYI though - I had replaced the idler a few years back so it is not factory original.

it does look like he may have left the old castle nuts on.
Did you remove the castle nuts completely and just use their silver shank nuts with a the locking washer?
You have to use their shank nuts....there are also 2 different shank nuts, one with a coarse thread and one for a fine thread.

Happen to know what size heims those are?
Unfortunately no - sold the truck.
Cool
Mines goes bad at the top of idle arm not bottom
Cool.
11:30 have you, in hindsight, considered that to be a result of misalignment from intervention?
That vibration went away - put 30k miles on this setup.
@@bonecrrusherSS do you feel like the cognito setup has preserved the steering whee response?
Center link.
Never touched it.
