727-100 is such a cool looking aircraft. The T-tail, high lift wing, 3 big ol' JT8D'S on the back. Makes today's ho-hum, twins-on-the-wings, everything looks the same cookie cutter jets look downright boring.
Hapag Lloyd started in the early 1970's with just 4 Boeing 727 at their home base at Hanover airport HAJ in Germany (where this movie was made). They were quite successful and even started charter and regular flights to JFK using the Airbus A310.
When I was 16 I did a professional internship as a aircraft mechanic at their home base.
Unfortunately they ceased operation in the late 1990's and sold the aircrafts to TUIfly.
Today there is just one aircraft still painted with the Hapag-Lloyd livery used for exclusive luxury cruise-flights with only a few first class seats.
Curiously, Hapag-Lloyd shipping containers and vessels are still everywhere. Shame their airline division couldn't expand to that level of reach.

What a plane! In the seventies, l flew in that acft. more times than I can count, mostly on Eastern Airlines.

I flew with this Hapag Lloyd aircraft in 1980 from Düsseldorf to Dakar ( via LPA) - Back then several companies would charter them for some real exotic routes such as to Mombasa, Sri Lanka or even to Brazil. I don`t know how they did it with the 727-100 but it required a few stops for refueling.
