- We are stuck waiting on parts before we can assemble the rest of the engine components and get Mittens our Legacy GT build turn key ready, but we have other items we can focus now to insure when it comes time to tune nothing will be holding us back.
In this video, we upgrade our fuel pump and talk about one of the most overlooked parts of your fuel system that will leave you questioning why your car didn't make the power you thought it would when it's at the tuner.
Pt. 2 will be a walkthrough for the iWire Hardwire kit in our Legacy BP Chassis and will come out in the next day or two

Love the honesty in your videos, it’s like a normal person is doing a 2 hour job but it takes 8! Keep up the content each video is getting better! FYI massages the medical ones are great.
Appreciate it man 🙏🙏
Yeah theres always something thay gets in the way of things being quick and easy, no hiding the complications, those are the fun parts. I've done a lot, but definitely some things I don't mess with often, wiring is a huge one, so I've got to get over that 😅
Can't learn without doing it, so we've got to keep going 👌👌
The moment I said I hope the fuel controller is back there. I thought maybe he should have watched a UA-cam video or read some instructions 😂😂. Love it brother. Can’t wait to see the progress on part 2. Yoink 🐽🐽
I knew they were different, but started questioning myself. It was tucked up and I pulled it back and didn't see it at first and my heart sank a little 🤣 thanks man 😊
@@MatlasDI hey like I feel u on frustration. Im doing my steering rack bushings. Who just did a steering rack and video I watched. I got a 2011 STI. So u know who @Smeedia
@@drewthomas9741 haha. Yup yupp. They make a good difference one everything up there is tightened up. 👌👌
@@MatlasDI when I replace my pump I’m gonna go the hard wire kit. Well worth it.
Did not know there was a fuel pump control module. I watch your videos so I don’t have the read a manual haha. Best of luck with the install! 🤞
It's okay I'll read it for you 🤣 thanks dude!
YOINK! Glad mittens is getting some good love 😼 nice video
YOIIIINK! Yup yup, thanks dude! 😊
I am guilty of being one who over looked this… Great video as always man!
I left it out on my other car and had those issues up top chasing power. Was an unfortunate time 😂
Look at him go with the consistent content! Love it!
Let's goooo 👊👊
Hey, it’s Tanner’s buddy. Subscribed.
Yup yupp, thanks man 🙏
Will probably never wrench on my Subi, but love your vids. Keep it up brother.
It's cool, just wrench vicariously through me 😂 Thanks man 😊
RTFM. It'll get you every time.
Yoink.
🤣🤣 you can tell I watch a lot of LTT.
@@MatlasDI bro do you watch LTT?
@@jacobstephens8447 R. T. F. TO THE MUFLUFFIN M!
I’m liking the video tempo great video bud keep up the good work!
Thanks man 😊 🙏
I can't wait for the next videos. I have the exact same car and wiring kit.
Ooo it should definitely help out 👊👊 coming out tomorrow at noon 👌
“Read the f’ing manual” love it. 😂😂😂
It's hard to go against your ways sometimes.. but it must be done 🤣
I bought the FCP from iwire for my aus 02 wrx. Had some issue (turned out to me be) and iwire's customer service was awesome. Great bit of kit
Yeah the guys over there make some seriously nice products, and continue to innovate as they go 👌👌
Loving the content! RTFM!!!🤣
Read it
Read it twice.. 😂
Awesome stuff!
Thank you 😊
Great video thanks for upload
Thanks man 👌
Good information, good video as well
Thanks man. 😁
If IT has taught me anything its that documentation is your friend. Don't avoid it 🤣
Yes. Yes it is 🤣
I think you opted to not use that wire piece on Chewie's battery tray because you found it frustrating.
Taking apart the cargo area in the OB/Wagons is not fun, with those Side trim pieces I tried to YOINK them out and ruined them...Mine looked like a tornado for a while too haha
On chewie I had left things how it was because it worked, but it definitely wasn't the ideal setup. Now that it's installed it really wasn't horrible, but it does take a bit to do it cleanly. The trim pieces are very easy to break if you don't make sure to get everything out for sure. 🤣
Love the video 👍
Thanks 😊
Read the manual?! 🤔 Who does that 🤣
Anyway good catch on that. It saves a whole lotta headache later on down the road. Good job Matt 👍🏾
I don't ask directions and I don't read instructions.. but I made a rare exception for something that sends electrical current to explosive substances 🤣🤣🤣 I lost man points for sure 😂 Thanks Walter!
@@MatlasDI 🤣 like most men, we don't need a stupid paper telling us what to do or where to go... Buuuuut every now and then, we do take a sneak peak when no one is looking. Just to be sure 😁👍🏾

Hi. I has a STI 2013 and I’m going to use the same FUEL-PUMP that you are using. I want to buy the same wire kits you have for the pump. Can you please post the link where I can get it!
Thanks

Here you go man, just select vehicle and pump from the drop down. Like I show in the next video I used the bypass stud kit. 👌
I like.. :) ..what were you saying about voltage ... and how a STi isn't adequate??? Rnning a Walboro255 in my 05 STi.. with billet wheeled/ball bearing SF48... 93% duty cycle at 21.5 with TGV/Perrin Catted DP...
Thanks man!
So without a hardwire the stock sti fpcm outputs around 11.9 volts to the fuel pump. Smaller pumps it isn't a huge deal, but as you step up to bigger pumps like 300lph and above they need more voltage to operate the pump to its full output, so you would hardwire the pump to increase voltage to roughly that which the alternator is outputting. In each pumps info sent with them, it should tell you it's ideal operating voltage and amperage. I believe walbro rates their pumps at 12 volts, but they can increase output at 13.5 volts.
@@MatlasDI ahhhh ok.. I wasn't understanding that portion.. I guess the Walboro is about as max as it can handle then... trying to keep my car as stock as I can... I am doing a OEM+/JDM theme...so about 350wheel is about all I need.. :) GL with the rest of your build.. will be following along..
@@scoobysouth definitely nice to not have to change so much up. Thanks man 😊
Sexy ass hatch in the background... LOL! Love ya Matias! ...read the manual! LOL!
Need to bag mittens.. they must be same same. 😂
Give me your hat "word of the day" 😉
🤣 word has it I have over 100 of that same hat. Wear a new one each day.
Honestly hope I don't have to deal with this on the new car (if that goes through) until I need more power... Was going to do that on my wagon before she started to knock.. but, if the spec.b is in worse shape than the wagon, the wagon will stay on the road 😅
You can get away with easier methods of doing so, but this is about the best way you can do it. I'll have a walk-through. It's a little easier on sedans as well (you take out a lot less to get tk things) and if you aren't shooting for over 400 you may be able to get away with just running the pump at lower voltage, but it can definitely stop you from hitting your power goals and hold you back during tuning.
@@MatlasDI definitely! Same sort of deal with our headlights. The guage of wire from the factory is a real bottleneck for the OEM spec bulbs. Upgrading that helps with making them brighter with a 55 watt bulb. Speaking of, that would be another cool "how to!"
@@Awkward_Fox haven't ran into issues with lighting, but I normally run LEDs.
@@MatlasDI that's fair! LEDs are excellent for what they do! I swapped to HIDs right before my wagon died, and it was such a huge improvement on its own. But that has a ton of extra wiring. What LEDs did you install?
@@Awkward_Fox normally run the morimoto 2stroke kits which work pretty well when properly aligned. I haven't tried the 3.0 out yet, but they've made a lot of improvements. Been considering testing out the jdm blue bezel hids for the bp on mittens though and then building a set for chewie.
Where did you get that kit because I tried and they have been out of stock
I've had this one sitting for a while for either this or the outback, but I've heard they are now experiences distributor delays on certain parts.
😁👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Tom 😊
I wanna do the fuel pump on the Fozzy…
Doooo itttt. 👌👌
Hey put in a new fuel filter too since you need to remove the pump…👍
Definitely a good time to do so! This one is still in great shape as it was replaced right before I had bought the car (done by my old shop). 👌
@@MatlasDI Keep your videos coming…love it!
@@themr2guy thanks dude! Will do 😊
What brand is that battery box?
It's a Mele mini box. Really like them 👌
@@MatlasDI thanks! You don’t know how many times I searched Rele, Bele, and more combinations. What a hard logo to decipher!
@John Bateman yeah kind of goofy, they don't market themselves too much lol np dude 👌👌
Just curious. Who’s smarter. You or Tanner ? 🤪
I like to think we both have our areas of expertise 🤣 they compliment each other well, but we've definitely had times where each of us have told the other they're doing something dumb.. 😅
