Wow.....someone paid them to hate on Infiniti. Why? Because they bring out the economy version of the q50, that was not even around when Sebastian Vettel was the director of performance at Infiniti. That's like picking a Mercedes C250 and reviewing it against a BMW M or AMG from Mercedes. What a joke.
+Motordyne G35 it's a terrible car, lets be honest. worst infotainment in the business and thats crucial. the fit and finish is shit and the steering seems ridiculous, dangerous even. japanese cars are reliable, but otherwise miserable shitboxes that pale in comparison to the Germans and the Brits, and even sometimes the italians
After reviewing your channel, you don't even own a car. I've owned my infiniti for 11 years and it came with 300hp back in 2005, top of it's class in power. Car and Driver put it over BMW that year in it's class. Now Infiniti is still using the same power plant, but bumped up displacement to 3.7 or 333hp back in 2009, nothing has changed. So in that retrospect, Infiniti is falling beyond from being the class leader in power, for their class. But that is to change as they announced the twin turbo power plant with 400hp. I also own an E46 BMW, so I can compare, the G35 is faster.
+Motordyne G35 I didn't say a G35 isn't fast, just not up to par in other ways. I will say it has a nice exhaust note, and will likely be the most reliable option. And I do own a car, I just don't post videos about it lol. I won't claim to drive an E63 or anything, I have a GTI, and I'm also 17. So yeah.
I recently moved to the UK from the US, and I've noticed a trend in the UK. If it isn't German, it's the shittiest car on the planet. Infiniti has a huge market in the US, and the reviews in the US are the complete opposite of the UK reviews. Being an Infiniti fan, I own a Q50 in the UK, probably the only Infiniti in my city, a 100 mile radius even. I have a couple of colleagues that, unsurprisingly, drive BMWs, mercs, jags. I've let every single one drive the car, and the look on their faces after the drive is something I can't describe. It's a look of, "I've been told the car is Shit, but personally, I love it". Obviously I've driven their cars also, and, yes, the Germans know their stuff, but I think the definition of interior quality is different depending on the geographical location. Trying not to be biased, knocking on a BMW 320 M sports interior panels sounds more plasticy than in the Q50, yet, every UK Q50 says it doesn't compare to a BMW. Even my colleague BMW drivers comment on how much more comfortable the seats are, and the overall interior quality, which to them is "unexpected from a Japanese car maker". This experience of mine has taught me to not just base a decision or opinion on a car review. Get out and test drive a car for yourself and draw your own opinion. Watching this review is disgusting to me, especially since I've been watching 5th gear as young kid, kind of makes me doubt their credibility.
These three reviewed the car as a sports car on a track but very few people actually drive their car like this. Nissan make very reliable cars. And infiniti is no exception to that. The Ford Focus is the UK's number one selling car and that should really set alarm bells ringing.
I've just bought a Q70 after a stack of BMW and Mercs. This is far better than my Mercs, and marginally better than my old BMW 5. I don't drive back roads like a race track, and I use motorways a lot. I like the interior, the seats are comfortable, the suspension is smooth and grippy. The fuel economy is better than I expected, and performance is far better. Its a Nissan, but thats a good thing - at least it won't rust away like my Merc did
I've seen some horrible BMW interiors and if I'm not mistaken BMW has changed the name of their cars and even created new series almost on a whim... yet no one bitches about that. Double standards for Euro cars.
Victor Contreras I think you're confusing a brand everyone knows about (e.g. BMW), with one that few have even heard of (e.g. Infiniti). You can't get away with changing your name, if no one knows your models to start with.

@@edanxkr you're getting your information from this show? An infiniti is nothing like its being portrayed as here! Its fun, fast, comfortable and handles incredibly well
Exactly this model 2.2d is the best cars. 120.000 miles with minor issues. Interesting how much they get paid for this video. Thei even never was drive with touchscreen car . Probably with vouxhall astra 2016 😂
The 2.0t isn't exactly what I call sporting. It's not even Infiniti/Nissan's own effort; it's a Mercedes-derived M274 used in the C250 for crying out loud.
i have one, had for just under a year. Bought it used to replace my Merc C class. My wife loves it, the grand children love it. I think the germans could learn a lot from it. Just a good car.
Lol they reviewed a C class Benz with the same engine as this Infiniti. They said it was great during the C Class review and now because its not on a Benz it is somehow nothing special....
You do know manufacturers share engines and they do their own thing with them, same with f1 but one team can be amazing and one can be shite. Also, the original Zonda had an AMG but obviously the Zonda was superior.
I have a Q50S Hybrid AWD. Its changed performance motoring for me. Can be driven sedately with the wife and kids, but once they are out the car very little stays with it with ts 0-62 in 5 seconds. For a 3.5 lt it also returns 37.5 MPG. I don't think that's too bad.
I have the same but not the AWD version - my only gripe is that there was never an estate version (Stagea equivalent) and that the rear seats can't fold down due to the battery. Otherwise it's as you say - extremely versatile and enjoyable!
This video was a huge disappointment Fifth Gear. I think we all expected a better review from you guys. This is the 4 cylinder and non sport package version of this car. Of course it's not that good. Try the regular 6 cylinder version with much more power with the sport package and your opinion would be different.
I own 2014 335i msport, and 2015 Infiniti Q50 sport. The build quality is very similar. The 335i handles better but the q50 handles great for a large car. I like it
It is quite alarming how the 'professional' reviewers seem to want to sabotage the car. I have a Q50 Hybrid. It is a fantastic car. Very comfortable, refined, looks great and it is bloody fast, really fast. The quality of the interior is way beyond any Ford. The materials are better than BMW and looks fab. The handling is great, maybe not quite as agile as a F30 330d which I owned before the Q50. 39 mpg when sticking to the speed limits. Not bad for 365hp! The auto braking is because the idiots tried tracking it with the safety shield turned on. I swear they do this on purpose. Deutchland uber alles!
Okay now for a real review from someone who actually owns a Q50. Near my house there is a street that has a bmw, mercedes, audi, lexus and infiniti dealership, and after trying out all of the models from the same class, i would definitely put the Q50 on top. I have the awd 3.7L and it is a beast, super fun to drive, infotainment system looks conplex but took me only about a day to fully master everything, bose speakers sound amazing. In general, its a 9/10 for me. The downsides i can give for my Q50 is the high fuel consumption (about 11.7L\100km) and the long boot up time of the onboard computer.
After this cheapest review of Q50 since 2014. I have to say time to cancel my subscription from a double standard program. This car is one of the most powerful sporty cars I have seen in natural V6 segment. and thats where Vettel has done it well. Unsubscribe
+Veyronp87 They do that a lot to certain cars. I remember especially that woman sabotaging a saab 9-5 in another video review similarly. Picking the weakest model (in terms of performance) and bashing its performance comparing it to the top model (performance wise) of the competitors among other things. I quickly grew annoyed at their channel because of that and especially the woman (vickie). Only come to see tiff drive something interesting sometimes lol
+Veyronp87 I agree with you. It's a shit review, you guy's points makes no sense, and you are obviously biased against infiniti. What the fuck do you british people knows about cars and specifically the infiniti brand?
One of the most "BIAS" channel ever... You wanna BURN money (regardless if you're rich or not), buy a German or Italian car; they have the worst reliability and too expensive parts PERIOD.
very fishy review..biased against infiniti...infiniti has better reliability than bmw, got superb handling..do ur homeworks..5th gear has become a trashy show
There is a button on the steering wheel, to switch off the lane keep assist and autonomous braking system. Yes, I switched the system off for better drive enjoyment. Don't forget, this is actually the equivalent of Nissan Skyline in Japan but inside.. It has the same 2.0 litre engine turbo from Mercedez Benz C250 (W204) together with its 7Gtronic 7 speed automatic transmission.
I like BMW more, but I've owned an Infiniti and they make very solid cars. My Infiniti runs like a clock and it's been 215k miles. I like the brand, and honestly I think their cars are sorely overlooked.
A typical UK review. A manufacturer makes a car that's good on the road and buyers are told by reviewers that they need something that is good on a track.
Why didn't they try the 400-horsepower V-8 version, the 380-horsepower all-wheel-drive hybrid version, or the 340-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 version? When the guy moved the steering wheel with no response, you could tell that the system had been set to the lowest possible setting. When the Q50 is set to the highest setting, it is insanely responsive. The whole reason Infiniti allows you to adjust the steering is because it is so damned responsive - engineers were afraid that people would be turning into corners too quickly because they are accustomed to the lag from mechanical (rack-and-pinion) steering. Next time these "critics" review a BMW or Audi, I'd wager that it won't be the entry-level model with the electronics all permanently locked in "economy mode." Watch ANY other track footage of the Q50, and you will see how this "review" is staged to put the Q50 in the worst light possible.
The guy driving the car is a former race driver who drove F1 cars. They are reviewing the car as a out right sports car. Infiniti makes reliable comfortable cars that are very nice to drive. The producers of the show seem to have misunderstood that part.
Why review the 2.0t? Of course it's not up to spec with a 335... Get the Q50s with a 3.7 and compare. I own the older model (G37) and I would agree that the interior isn't quite up to par...but the performance and looks (IMO) are in the ballpark and it's much cheaper. You'd have to pay 15K more for a BMW with the same kit as the G37 (heated/ventilated seats, dual zone climate, sport brakes, sat/nav, etc)
+jason starek I've owned a 2006 e90 330i and a 2008 e92 335xi coupe. My 2011 G37xs coupe sits right in the middle as for as "performance". It is a much better ride and feels nice to drive. However it is not comparable in the drive dynamics "handling" typical of a BMW. With that being said though, the Infiniti is miles better when throwing in the word reliability..
MAYA All good points. I do give the advantage to BMW on handling and interior materials. But they are also 25% more expensive at the same option level. That said...I'm probably going to trade my G37 in and upgrade to a 435...lol. I mean, it's still a BMW.
how can you make an honest review, when you are not impartial, objetive? infiniti q50 is one of the best cars right now. excellent fuel economy and performance.
LMAO........ I'm sorry Vicki but I would like to see a BMW 3-Series with a better interior then this car. MB and Audi might be little better but BMW 3-Series I don't think so.
At 2:04 you can see that the trim to the left of the Tune Folder button doesn't line up correctly. Also, this car weighs around 3,700 pounds and has 211 hp so I didn't expect them to like anything about the power delivery. That's not nearly enough power for the weight.
Why would you choose the smallest (economy version) for a track test? I've seen a lot of 3.7L G37/Q50/Q60 reviews over time and have never seen one bad review of the handling or power. I've had my '09 G37 for 8 years. Great performance and not one repair necessary. Not one. The only cars to upgrade from the Q50/60's 330 HP, 278 lb/ft performance without jumping up to M3 $$$$ are the 335i or big American muscle cars. The prices and reliability issues of either of those make the Infiniti a much better value. But hey, if you've got the disposable income for those repair bills then I couldn't blame you.
Yeah! It would be good if I could stick to the brand I'm familiar with but Holden has moved offshore from Australia to Germany & is getting Opel to build their cars so they don't support the local economy, it turns out that they would never give me a job !!!! I have been looking for a V8 option of the Infiniti Q50 but all they have now is the twin turbo 3 litre V6 engine, I'm not sure if they plan on bolting the 5.6 litre V8 engine back in next year. In Australia, what turned me off turbocharged vehicles is the cost of insurance & when I was under 25 years of age, they charge huge premiums to deter young & inexperienced drivers from buying a turbocharged vehicle so turbo was a dirty word in the late 1990's. This was before traction control,Holden bolted the turbocharged RB30 engine into the 1986 model VL Commodore ,the enginen was made by Nissan for Holden. Inexperienced drivers would drive it on a wet night, hit boost when driving around a corner then the car would lose traction then slamming sideways into a tree & because so many of them got written off,the insurance companies had to increase their premiums. I hope it's not the same with the Q50 as the premiums were cost prohibitive for me even when I was older than 25 !!!!
The Q50 corners amazingly. On the highway I can’t believe how it sticks to the ground in curves. I’ve had an M3 and taken it to the track. I love the Infinity. Besides how it sticks to the ground it has an amazing acceleration.
AWD or RWD? I have the RWD but both Q50 variations are tuned to understeer, which is different to most M3s (a bit more neutral). The Attesa 4WD is amazing at 'pulling' the car out of oversteer gradually/controllably (I had this on an older Skyline as well as a Stagea ARX), however this car doesn't really benefit from this unless driving like a hoon at low speeds on the street (read: burn-outs/powerslides mistaken as 'drifting').
+PedoBear it's a terrible car, lets be honest. worst infotainment in the business and thats crucial. the fit and finish is shit and the steering seems ridiculous, dangerous even. japanese cars are reliable, but otherwise miserable shitboxes that pale in comparison to the Germans and the Brits, and even sometimes the italians
Pretty bad review, as this was one of cheapest base models offered. This wasn't an AWD, or a 3.0T...I don't even think they put it in sports mode. The car itself has 28 modifiable steering options through its computer. Biased review?
Dear Infiniti, please give Fifth Gear the 3.7L or the Hybrid Q50 so that they can properly redo this review. Q50 owners like myself deserve a fair review from a reputable source like Fifth Gear.
6:19 is definitely a Ford Mondeo/Fusion interior. Thank God I don't need these 3 people's opinion about a car I like. The Q50 is an attractive car & the fit & finish is not poorly crafted either. Infiniti did a good job (yes there's room for improvement).
I've owned BMW's and Audi's... I am sorry but the reliability of these cars is sub par. So if your rich as f*ck or don't care about bringing in the sucker to get repaired more often then not, the Infiniti wins this segment.
Drive by wire, is that... special? Like, at all? My 2014 Fiat 500 has that, and I just assumed that it was sort of a base for city cars and such to make the steering lighter and easier to use
I have a q50. And it is the best car i have ever had. And my previeus car was an Audi A6 3.0 tdi quattro. But the repairs that i had on the Audi was too much. The infiniti is a very nice car to drive and very luxurieus
5th gears u bunch of Muppets! 2x standards and worse, you picked the base model to review! There are the hybrid model, the 3.7 v6 model and the 3.0 Turbo charged v6 which are all much better. No wonder you guys are so much worse than Top Gear even when they are without Clarkson, May and Hammond!
Wooow, I've seen bad reviews, terrible reviews... and then there's this. Fifth gear has made some terrible reviews but this one does it for me. Unsubscribing... If you're not interested in testing a car just don't do it. Don't make a stupid video bashing a car on things like "I prefer a BMW". You like german cars? Valid... Bashing a Japanese car just because you like Audi is just plain stupid.
Q50 best looking and performance sedan for its price period !! Nissan is the best performance brand for its price out there! Just look at GTR lamboo and ferrari killer
what bmq quality??? this guys are idiots, ive seen many many new bmws with broken engines, broken turbos, and interior quality even worse, texture and color of the doors panels and is falling on 1 year cars!
Most people in the UK and Europe will buy them new and if you have owned one you would know that if they are maintained correctly they are very good quality especially the interior although Audis is better

my father-in-law as had all new versions since 1996,only recently turned to mb, so i can say the interior is bad quality.
Fifth Gear logic: Let's get the most economical version with the smallest engine available and send it around the track comparing it to BMW's and Mercedes 3.0+ liter usually turbos. At least get the 3.7 liter, or the Q50s.

Don't forget, this is actually the equivalent of Nissan Skyline in Japan but inside.. It has the same 2.0 litre engine turbo from Mercedez Benz C250 (W204) together with its 7Gtronic 7 speed automatic transmission.
Try the 3.0L twin turbo Red Sport or the 3.5L hybrid with all the bells and whistles...that'll be an experience!
Zachary Zarko no of those engines exist in this car, they are 400hp 3.0tt V6, 360hp 3.5 hybrid, 300hp 3.0tt V6, or 2.0t 208hp 4 cyl
I never seen that BMW quality all the journalist are talking about.
No, the Infinity does not look like a Ford Fusion (Mondeo for those of you who are across the pond).
it is when they use the mondeo shots haha 0:21
They are testing the 2.0 turbo. I've been in the 350 hp version of this car and it's fantastic. I am waiting for the Couple version
Ford Mondeo interior at 0:20 ?
I mean, it's still a BMW.
jason starek now they have the 3.0tt with 400hp
Seemed a bit biased... Infiniti's are great. I can't believe the brand hasn't taken off in Europe.
Hey @Fifth Gear - You're showing the interior of a FORD from 0:20 - 0:23 and 6:17 - 6:20 - what were your editors thinking?
ford mondeo interior shot at 0:21
+Joey Ros holy shit
+Joey Ros OMG true, this Review sucked balls.
Joey Ros and again at 6:17
I really like the Q50, these guys just proves why i watch Top Gear.
What I find sad is, they do not seem to have any basic information about the market and the cars they are reviewing.
0:21 and 6:18 are the interior of the Mondeo/Fusion, not the Q50.
how can you make an honest review, when you are not impartial, objetive? infiniti q50 is one of the best cars right now. excellent fuel economy and performance.
LMAO........ I'm sorry Vicki but I would like to see a BMW 3-Series with a better interior then this car. MB and Audi might be little better but BMW 3-Series I don't think so.
very unprofessional review !
You tested the base model
I do like like these team tests but they don't go into enough detail for me and just needlessly thrash every car round the track.
Nice ford mondeo interior shot in there. :P 6:20
Should I buy a active hybrid bmw or a Q50 3.5L plz someone help me
At 2:04 you can see that the trim to the left of the Tune Folder button doesn't line up correctly. Also, this car weighs around 3,700 pounds and has 211 hp so I didn't expect them to like anything about the power delivery. That's not nearly enough power for the weight.
you all messed up, in the start of the video, the interior is a base model one and the review one is the top of the line
I didn't know reviews can get that bad.
did anyone notice at 0:21 they put a ford fusions interior instead of the infiniti's?
my next car..love infinity.
0:21 thats not the interior of the q50
I really heard that the steering is not the best, but it still is a great looking car though, inside and out.
Were the editors paying attention on this review? they showed the Ford Mondeo interior for the Infiniti.
They don't get a choice - it's whatever the importer/dealer has available to give them at that time
@@Lancia444 Mine is RWD. Good info, thanks.
well considering in japan this car has the legendary nissan skyline badge , i m sure its not that bad
They should have tested the 360 hp Q50s Hybrid or the 400 hp Q50s Red Sport and then do a review on those instead of a 2.0t.
Why do you show the interior of a ford with a manual trans?? And would you test the v6 at least or test the upcoming v6TT 3.0
If you wanted performance, why would you review the smallest and less powerful engine??
Billiamiscool drive by wire is fully electronic infiniti is the only car company in the world that has that
why not test the hybrid?
its a skyline
I have a q50. And it is the best car i have ever had. And my previeus car was an Audi A6 3.0 tdi quattro. But the repairs that i had on the Audi was too much. The infiniti is a very nice car to drive and very luxurieus
What does mondeo interior do on Infiniti video
Why, at 6:18, is there a shot of a Ford Mondeo's interior?
0:23 you can clearly see that it is a mondeo interior
Very bad review about Infintiis it is very good daily fun and reliable car sorry fifth gear u r not saying the truth
why were they showing the ford Taurus cabin at 0:20?
Impossible that car doesn't exist in the uk
Fly by wire steering is the most idiotic idea anyone ever came up with.
+derbigpr500 Since when it's even been legal? I thought that in Europe at least the steering wheel shoud be physically connected to front wheels
Fly by wire steering, don't see the point at all. It can't really even save fuel because the electic power steering has been invented.
Heikki Kuoppala base model does not have fly by wire. These reviewers didn’t know it.
drive by wire steering ? .. that handy if one of the sensor fails
Safe to say I made the right choice getting a 335i?
+6SpeedTA95 maybe check the iihs for the safety and say it again
+Rex Meng 3 series is pretty safe
get real engine 3.7
Umm not fair a comparison of a "BMW or Audi" when you choose a near base engine and package. The "sport" badge doesn't make it sport.
Ford interior shown at 6:18!
I Driving my Hybrid saving gas and knocking down some new turbo engines. Blast to drive having fun meanwhile is 10 years old. 2014
At 0:21 and 6:18 the interior footage is from a Ford Mondeo
Q50 best looking and performance sedan for its price period !! Nissan is the best performance brand for its price out there! Just look at GTR lamboo and ferrari killer
v6 hybrid?
what bmq quality??? this guys are idiots, ive seen many many new bmws with broken engines, broken turbos, and interior quality even worse, texture and color of the doors panels and is falling on 1 year cars!
Most people in the UK and Europe will buy them new and if you have owned one you would know that if they are maintained correctly they are very good quality especially the interior although Audis is better
my father-in-law as had all new versions since 1996,only recently turned to mb, so i can say the interior is bad quality.
These hosts biased towards European cars are so obvious.
And quality? Those German makes will be in a shop within 2 years of purchase. This won't/
+smasila that last part i true.
The interior shots are all from a mondeo PLEASE BE LIKE TOP GEAR!
Nice Ford Mondeo interior at 0:22
Fifth Gear logic: Let's get the most economical version with the smallest engine available and send it around the track comparing it to BMW's and Mercedes 3.0+ liter usually turbos. At least get the 3.7 liter, or the Q50s.
+Kcducttaper1 where did they compare it to 3.0+ litre bmw and mercedes? Most bmw and mercedes sold in britain are 2 litre economy versions.
How ironic people be complaining about touchscreens in 2016 and it's just a norm in 2021. No screens no buy lol
Have you considered taking the traction and trace control off. That car would have came to life.
The 3.7 Q50 is very quick, but the fbw steering feels so dead and is completely pointless. Get it without.
